Terror Drill Terrorizes Children

A drill involving a SWAT team at a Denver area elementary school subjected children as young as first grade to a traumatic and frighteningly realistic school shooter scenario involving simulated gunshots, explosions and loud alarms. Part of the Homeland Security-led Operation Mountain Guardian, it was only one part of a drill that took place at more than 10 locations, including Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, where local, state and federal agencies practiced relocating children and other potential victims, a contingency planned for real events, including terrorism or other emergencies.

While the SuperDome in New Orleans became a symbol of the nightmare of federal emergency control– blocking organic local relief efforts while ‘mismanaging’ its own actions– it is seen as a place of refuge for authorities in Denver under a scenario is planned with more than 100 agencies over more than 18 months. The plan to use sports stadiums is in keeping with H.R. 645, the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act and other related martial law plans. Infowars.com reporters traveled there Friday to cover the drill.

Kids All Over America Are Being Put On Buses And Sent To Alternate Locations During School Terror Drills

ImageAll over the United States, school children are being taken out of their classrooms, put on buses and sent to "alternate locations" during terror drills. These exercises are often called "evacuation drills" or "relocation drills" and they are more than a little disturbing.Sometimes parents are notified in advance where the kids are being taken and sometimes they are only told that the children are being taken to an "undisclosed location".In the years since 9/11 and the Columbine school shootings, there has been a concerted effort to make school emergency drills much more "realistic" and much more intense.Unfortunately, the fact that many of these drills are deeply traumatizing many children does not seem to bother too many people.Do we really need to have "active shooter" drills where men point guns at our kids and fire blanks at them?Do we really need to have "relocation drills" where kids are rapidly herded on to buses and told that they must surrender their cell phones because they will not be allowed to call anyone? Our schools more closely resemble prison camps every single day, and it is our children that are suffering because of it.

It is also important to keep in mind that much of the time these drills are not the fault of local school administrators.Often, these drills are being mandated at the state level. Our politicians have become obsessed with "school safety" in recent years, and apparently their idea of "school safety" involves deeply traumatizing our kids.

Earlier today I was doing some research and I came across a forum where a parent was describing a relocation drill that would soon be happening at a school in Oklahoma.Well, I went to public schools all my life and nothing like this ever happened when I was growing up, so I wanted to do a little digging to see if this was actually happening around the country or if it was just an Internet rumor.

Unfortunately, what I found out was quite disturbing.

It turns out that "relocation drills" are being conducted at schools from coast to coast.

For example, the following is an excerpt from a letter to parents about a relocation drill that took place in Woodhaven, Michigan....

Our school district continues to focus on the safety of staff, students, and our community. We have a detailed emergency plan so we can respond effectively to major catastrophes. We work closely with the fire and police departments from the City of Woodhaven and Brownstown Township to implement this plan. As part of these efforts, we are conducting a practice emergency drill on May 19th. It will begin at about 9:20 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. This practice drill will simulate a boiler explosion at Patrick Henry Middle School. We will evacuate all staff and students from PHMS, Erving Elementary School, and the Administration Building.

The Woodhaven and Brownstown Township Police and Fire Departments, DTE Energy, and staff from Wayne County RESA will help secure the buildings and monitor this practice drill. Erving Elementary staff and students will be evacuated by bus to Bates Elementary School, and PHMS students and staff will be evacuated by bus to Woodhaven High School.

But just putting kids on buses and taking them to other schools was not enough.During the drill, some students and school staff were instructed to pretend to be injured. In addition, parents were instructed not to call the school during the drill and children were instructed not to call their parents....

As part of the drill, we will pretend that some students and staff are injured. Pretend victims will be assessed and transported to nearby triage centers. Please be aware that Hall Road and Van Horn Road may be closed to traffic for all or part of this drill. There will be a number of emergency vehicles at PHMS and Erving Elementary School during the drill. Your cooperation is necessary for this practice drill to be successful. During drills and emergencies like the one we are planning:

• Please do not telephone the school. Telephone lines are needed for drill emergency communications.
• Impress upon your children the need to follow directions and take drills seriously.
• During an evacuation drill or a real emergency, students will be kept at their school or will be evacuated to another site. They will be released only to adults listed on their emergency contact form. Any adult picking up a student (reunification) will be required to show picture identification.
• Students and parents should not communicate by cell phones during the drill or emergency situation. Students need to be attentive to the instructions from school and safety personnel.

But at least in that drill parents knew where their children would be taken.

That was not the case during a recent relocation drill in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho....

Students at Lakeside School District walked out of their schools this morning to prepare for the worst case scenario. They were transferred by bus to an off-site location in less than a hour. But it was only a drill.

Their Bus Evacuation Drill started at 9 a.m. and students were transferred to their undisclosed emergency location and returned back to school.

“As you might expect, student safety is our first priority and security is tight even during a practice,” Karyn Stockdale, district clerk, said.

It was later revealed they were bussed to Benewah Wellness Center as their acting evacuation shelter.

It was "later revealed" where the "undisclosed emergency location" was?

I am sure a whole bunch of parents were thrilled when they heard about that.

What purpose is served by herding kids on to a bus and taking them to an undisclosed location?

School officials just seem to take these little "exercises" way too seriously.

For example, check out the tone in the following excerpt from a school newsletter from one school in Pennsylvania....

"As mentioned in a separate letter in our CB Electronic Envelope last Wednesday, our school will be involved in an Off-Site Relocation Drill. This practice opportunity will sharpen our skills and provide us with the chance to review important safety procedures in the event of an emergency. This Relocation Drill is scheduled for Friday, December 16, 2011. Here are some very important reminders for all parents and families:

SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!!!!!!

In every classroom, teachers will prepare students for this activity. To ensure that every child and adult arrives safely to the relocation site, no child will be released for any reason during this practice activity or real emergency. All parents are asked to review the detailed letter explaining the official steps for such drills and practice activities."

No child will be released for any reason?

What if there is a family emergency?

What if a child becomes very ill?

Our schools are becoming way too militarized. It really is quite frightening to see what is happening to us.

It takes a lot of effort to pack up all of the students and all of the staff at a school and ship them off to an alternate location.

The following is another example from one school in Iowa....

The second drill is planned for Thursday at 9:15 a.m. During the second drill officials will simulate a relocation of the entire EE-12 student body and staff by school buses.

For some schools, this kind of a drill has now become a regularly scheduled yearly activity.

The following is from a school handbook in Vermont....

Lockdown drills are practiced several times a year. In a Lockdown students remain quiet and undetectable behind a locked door. Students prepare for these drills and are supported by their teachers. Saint Albans City School practices, at least once a year, an emergency evacuation/relocation drill where we leave the school building and go to alternate sites.

Keep in mind that it says "at least once a year".That means that it could happen even more frequently if they want it to.

Some schools even have plans for students to be "housed temporarily" at alternative locations. The following is from a school website in California....

Evacuation Plan: Requires that all building occupants leave and go to an alternate location. Evacuation may mean only going outside and away from the building until an all-clear signal is given. In some circumstances, students and staff may need to be transported and housed temporarily in another location until the Go-Home Plan can be put into operation.

In some instances, parents are encouraged not to pick their children up at all in the event of a major emergency. The following is from an article in the Washington Post....

School administrators in the Washington area yesterday stepped up preparations for possible terrorism, and most school districts told parents that they would be prevented, or strongly discouraged, from picking up their children in the event of a biological or chemical attack.

So what measures would be taken to keep parents from getting to their children?

That is a frightening thing to think about.

But these "relocation drills" are not the only kind of drills that parents need to be aware of.

In many areas of the country, schools are holding "active shooter" drills where men in full military gear are pointing guns at children and firing blank rounds.

The following is one recent example that happened in Brecksville, Ohio....

The emergency drill at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High involved hundreds of students, including members of the Drama Club who portrayed wounded and panicked students.

Junior Ashley Elek said Chardon High School was on their minds as they went through the very realistic looking drill, in which many students were "killed" and "wounded."

In many areas of the country, there is not always advance notice of these "active shooter" drills.Sometimes students are told that there will be an "active shooter" drill and sometimes they are not.

Sometimes teachers do not even know that an "active shooter" drill is coming. When that happens, the results can be incredibly traumatic.

Just check out the following example from New Jersey....

About 50 teachers at a New Jersey school experienced a terrifying moment when a shooting rampage turned out to be a drill, but the teachers didn’t know it.

It happened Aug. 28 at the Phillipsburg New Jersey Early Learning Center.

A man burst into the library and started shooting. But the gun didn’t have any bullets, just blanks.

Teachers took cover under child-sized tables, crying and trembling.

“People are crying. The girl next to me is trembling and shaking. You heard people crying. You heard other people praying. It was pretty dramatic,” one teacher said.

Can you imagine?

Why would we ever want to put our children through that?

I think that some of these twisted sickos actually enjoy the thought of making little kids pee their pants.

In some cases, children are told during these "exercises" that a particular group of Americans is attacking the school.

For example, during a terror drill at a public school in Muskegon County, Michigan, students and teachers were told that "homeschoolers" were the ones attacking them....

"The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke."

In another case in New Jersey, students were told that the gunmen were from a group of "fundamentalist Christians" called "The New Crusaders"....

"Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the 'New Crusaders' who don't believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class."

What possible purpose do drills like those have?

Sadly, those running things keep wanting to make these kinds of drills as frequent as possible.

In New Jersey, new guidelines require that a "security drill" be held at public schools at least once a month.

As you can see from this document, an "evacuation to relocation site" drill is one of the kinds of drills that can be chosen to satisfy this requirement in New Jersey....

The following are examples of other security drills that schools can hold:

• Shelter-in-place; Reverse evacuation; Evacuation to relocation site; Testing of school’s notification system and procedures; Testing of school’s communication system and procedures; Tabletop exercise; and Full scale exercise.

When I was growing up, there was just one kind of emergency exercise. When the fire alarm sounded, we all trudged out to the football field. We stood around and talked for a few minutes and then we went back inside.

But the environment in U.S. public schools today is totally different. Our children are being forced to endure endless "relocation drills", "lockdown drills" and "active shooter drills".

These drills are just another reason why many parents have decided that it is time to pull their kids out of the government schools entirely.

Our public schools more closely resemble prison camps than they do institutions of learning.Millions of our kids are leaving high school dumb as a rock, but they do know what to do when the alarm goes off.

So what do you think about these drills? Please feel free to post a comment with your opinion below....

Well, as one commenter said, "Control the kids, and you control the parents", I mean, come on, that's hysterical talk, it not like they are rounding them up and taking them to stadiums or anything. Oh? Wait...

http://www.midlandsconnect.com/news/sto ... 3JNl9kqj5w
At some point during all of this, police got word of the possibility of a suspicious device on campus. They brought in teams to conduct a security sweep of the school. Around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, the State Law Enforcement Division helicopter landed at the school, delivering a bomb squad team from Columbia.

Immediately after the shooting, the students were evacuated from the school and gathered in the football stadium. No students were hurt.

We're told the student in custody is a juvenile, whose name is not being released.

“We don’t want our kids to know how we’re going to respond or what we’re going to do.” -Mark E. Kissel, chief of school police, Cherokee County (Ga.) Schools

Drills are also about ensuring students obey the nearest adult’s direction without question, Poland says.”The main point [of a drill] is to have it be a learning experience,” he says.

Texas high school teaches Nazi oppression by making students wear red arm bands, treated like Jewish prisoners
Wednesday, May 23, 2012 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) A former student at Perryton High School in Perryton, Texas, has filed a lawsuit against the school's district for injuries he allegedly suffered during a teacher-mandated reenactment of the Holocaust. According to the suit, Andrew Yara, now 19, suffered a partially dislocated hip, dehydration, and a series of seizures after being forced to carry around several heavy student on his back as part of the bizarre education experiment.

For a number of years now, Perryton High School has observed a two-day remembrance of the Holocaust known as "Red Ribbon Day," during which time students taking a world history class are taught the grim details of this sobering scourge on human history. But part of this educational experience includes dividing students up into groups of "Nazis" and "Jews," and forcing the "Jews" to withstand numerous forms of abuse from the "Nazis."

"(The Jews) must do everything school faculty or other students tell them to, including picking up other students' trash, being taken outside and sprayed with water hoses, bear-crawling across the hot track, carrying other students' books, and even carrying other students," says the complaint. "[A]ny student who did not do everything they were told were [sic] receive a failing grade.

Yara, who was one of the "Jews" forced to wear a red ribbon, subsequently became injured after a student who allegedly weighed nearly double Yara's own weight jumped on Yara's back and asked Yara to carry him around in between a class period. Yara says he was forced to carry three different students around during this passing period, and at one point had two students jump on his back at the same time.

When the second student jumped on Yara's back, Yara allegedly fell backwards and sustained numerous injuries to his body that sent "shocking, burning" pain down both of his legs from his pelvis. Yara says he suffered continued pain throughout the day in his lower back and legs, and later had to undergo expensive medical treatment. He also later passed out at work and had to be rushed to the emergency room.

Yara and his parents say the school showed "deliberate indifference" to Yara's constitutional rights throughout "Red Ribbon Week," and they are seeking damages for violations of Yara's right to bodily integrity under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. They also cited Yara's right to be free from excessive force under the Fourth Amendment as part of the suit, which is also asking the school district to cover the costs associated with Yara's medical bills.

CBS News/ January 29, 2013, 12:44 PM
Illinois school drill to include shooting blanks in hallway

Parents are upset over a school shooting drill planned in the Chicago suburbs that simulates the sound of gunfire, CBS Chicago reports.

Jay Sargeant, principal of Cary-Grove High School, said in an email to parents that students will participate in a "code red" drill on Wednesday. It will include somebody shooting blanks from a gun in the hallway "in an effort to provide our teachers and students some familiarity with the sound of gunfire."

School spokesman Jeff Puma said the small number of parents who have contacted the school are evenly split for and against the drill.

Parents who are against it say a "code red" drill is probably necessary, but the simulation of gunfire takes it too far and may upset some children.

Parent Sharon Miller called it absurd.

"If you need to run a drill, you can run a drill," Miller told WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya. "They run fire drills all the time, but they don't run up and down the hallway with a flamethrower."

Puma, the school spokesperson, says Cary-Grove High School has worked closely with local police on the drill plans.

"It was their recommendation that we do this in order to create the knowledge necessary to keep our students safe in an active crisis situation," he said.

Cary Grove Drill To Include Shooting Blanks In Hallways (Audio/Video)
January 29, 2013 9:49 AM

UPDATED: 1/29/2013 – 4:30 p.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A school shooting drill planned for tomorrow in the far northwestern suburbs has many parents upset.
play pause

* Cary Grove Drill Upsets Parents
* WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya

According to a letter from Cary-Grove High School principal Jay Sargeant, there will be a code red drill at the school on Wednesday.

It will include somebody shooting blanks from a gun in the hallway “in an effort to provide our teachers and students some familiarity with the sound of gunfire.”

CBS 2’s Derrick Blakley reports, during the drill, teachers will keep students in their rooms, lock their doors, and draw their curtains. Police will sweep the building, while someone will fire two shots – blanks – from a starter pistol.

Cary Police Chief Steven Casstevens said, “From the school’s request, they want to let the students know what the sound of gunshot might be, should that occur in their school.”

But any gunfire at a school – even blanks – had some parents and students shaking their heads.

Parent Kassy Pinter said, “It’s probably necessary to have the ‘code red’ drill, but not really necessary to shoot the blanks in the hallway.”

Parent Sharon Miller said the way Cary Grove has planned the code red drill is absurd and also thinks it’s not necessary to shoot blanks in the hallway.

“If you need to run a drill, you run a drill,” she told WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya. “They run fire drills all the time, but they don’t run up and down the hallway with a flamethrower.”

Parents were also concerned about some students getting too upset during the exercise.

Pinter and Miller both also pointed out that not all guns sound alike, ranging from a light popping sound to a loud bang.

The parents were also concerned about the notification letter from the school. Pinter said she did not receive it in her email. Miller said she’s the only one of the parents she knows who has received it.

Some in the school community endorse the idea.

Substitute teacher Debbie Gummerson said, “Let’s put the kids through some training, and maybe we could save some lives that way, should something ever happen.”

Parent Dina Coutre said, “Nowadays it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

School spokesman Jeff Puma said the small number of parents who have contacted the school are evenly split for and against the drill. He said another notification will be going out today, and teachers will discuss the drill plans with students during classes.

Puma said the school has worked closely with the Cary Police Department on the drill plans.

“It was their recommendation that we do this in order to create the knowledge necessary to keep our students safe in an active crisis situation,” Puma said.

Pinter and Miller also said they don’t like the way police recommend students to be “sitting ducks” in their classrooms if there’s a shooter in their school.

They said they’d always taught their children to find a way out of the school if they’re not near where the shooting is going on–to run out a door or climb out a window.

Puma said, “I don’t believe there would be any school that would tell you to do that, and that’s coming from police and emergency management officials.”

Last year, Community High School District 155 also used simulated gunshots at another emergency drill at Crystal Lake South High School, but only faculty and staff were present, not students.

The full email:

Dear parents:

At Cary-Grove and across District 155, we make your child’s safety our number one priority each day. As a parent, I can assure you that we understand our responsibility to return your child safely at the end of each day. While we take many preventative steps to keep our building secure, we also practice our response should a crisis arise. Some examples include meetings with first responders, a comprehensive crisis response plan, and simulations. We are planning a code red simulation on Wednesday, January 30. We feel it is important to explain the simulation to you in advance so that you and your child might be able to better understand what will take place on Wednesday.

The simulation will take approximately 15-20 minutes, during which time teachers will secure their rooms, draw curtains, and keep their students from traveling throughout the building. Please note that we will be firing blanks in the hallway in an effort to provide our teachers and students some familiarity with the sound of gunfire. Our school resource officer and other members of the Cary Police Department will assist us in sweeping the building to ensure that all students are in a secure location during the drill. At the conclusion of the drill, we will take some time to process what occurred and then we will return to our normal classroom routine.

I encourage you to discuss the drill with your student both before it happens and after. These drills help our students and staff to be prepared should a crisis occur, but it may cause some students to have an emotional reaction. In those cases, your voice may provide reassurances of the drill’s importance. Additionally, we have trained social workers on staff who can speak directly with your child should he or she need added support.

Should you have any questions, please contact me or any member of the Cary-Grove’s administrative team. Together, we can keep our school a safe place for your child to learn and grow.

Sincerely,

Jay Sargeant
Principal

That is beyond fucked up. If shit like this becomes popular, um, homeschooling anyone? This shit is off the rails. Children need to socialize ON THEIR OWN.

Again, being made to think thoughts we weren't thinking before. Progress in this regard is in full flourish.

HALFWAY -- Two masked men wearing hoodies and wielding handguns burst into the Pine Eagle Charter School in this tiny rural community on Friday. Students were at home for an in-service day, so the gunmen headed into a meeting room full of teachers and opened fire.

Someone figured out in a few seconds that the bullets were not drawing blood because they were blanks and the exercise was a drill, designed to test Pine Eagle's preparation for an assault by "active shooters" who were, in reality, members of the school staff. But those few seconds left everybody plenty scared.

Principal Cammie DeCastro said it became clear very quickly just how many of the school's 15 teachers would have survived. The answer: "Not many," she said.

Elementary teacher Morgan Gover, 31, said only two teachers would have lived to tell the tale. She admitted being scared, and also acknowledged she would have been among the casualties, having taken several fake direct hits from the shooters.

"I'll tell you, the whole situation was horrible," she said. "I got a couple in the front and a couple in the back."

The surprised staff had received training from the Union County Sheriff's Office on active shooter scenarios. They had been told they had some options, such as not rushing out of their classrooms when gunfire erupted, and locking and barricading their doors.

They weren't expecting a drill like this, and they were caught by surprise when the two men entered and began firing.

"There was some commotion," DeCastro said.

The goal of the drill was to learn how people would react, so better emergency plans could be made, she said.

It was a wake-up for many of the teachers.

"It was shocking," said elementary teacher Dollie Beck, 54.

Surprisingly, the drill made Beck aware that she would not have recognized the sounds of gunfire. "I would have blown it off as kids' sounds in the hall," she said.

The drill has since prompted her to keep her classroom door locked and to think of windows as escape routes, she said. But the biggest insight for her was the reminder that she is in charge of the youngsters in her classroom, and would have to remain calm in an emergency.

"Emotion begets emotion," she said.

Gover said before the drill, she was comfortable she had a plan to deal with such a situation. What she learned was, her plan wasn't much good. "It heightened my awareness about what's around me," she said.

Halfway, population 288, is the eastern Oregon ranching town that became world-famous 13 years ago as the globe's first "Internet city." The city council changed Halfway's name to Half.com in return for $73,000 from a Philadelphia-based Internet bazaar of the same name that sold books, CDs, movies and the like on-line at half price.

The town got its old name back a year later when the on-line bazaar was sold to eBay. Now Halfway is back in the real world, where people sometimes enter schools and open fire.

DeCastro has heard some criticisms of the drill from townsfolk, but is convinced it was valuable. "For us not to know how we were going to respond is leaving us open," she said.

Beck and Gover agree.

"I'm in charge of a pile of kids," said Gover. "It made me analyze as a teacher what my role is for these babies."

The district's Safety Committee and the School Board now will critically evaluate policies and procedures and decide what to do next, said DeCastro.

Armed teachers is one possible outcome, she said. Or the district may get armed and trained volunteers from the community to watch over the school in shifts, she said. Tougher doors and better locks are other options.

Gover said the teachers tend to favor having one or two armed teachers in the building at all times.

"We are so remote," Gover said, "we are going to have to take care of ourselves."

But thinking about active shooter scenarios is hard, she said.

"We are tender-hearted people who give hugs all day. We don't think like that."
Don't believe anything they say.
And at the same time,
Don't believe that they say anything without a reason.

they were caught by surprise when the two men entered and began firing.
