"Despite their rhetoric, the libertarian, patriot, and constitutionalist movements are little more than ideological cover for a return to the bad old days of the Gilded Age."

I was kicking myself for initially supporting Ron Paul during his campaign when I finally realised this.

I hate going with the simplest explanation that for me explains ALL of his behavior, but he was a self-promoting niche market gangster back when people thought he was for real, and he remains exactly that now that he's finally shot himself enough times in the foot that most of his former followers think of him as the controlled opposition.

It's always been about gratifying his ego and pushing product. He is a ham actor and attention whore who found a successful schtick. No need to assume he has a spookworld handler telling him what to do, though there's also no need to rule it out, of course. It's just speculative. Anyway, to me there's no necessary moral distinction that makes the hired disruptors worse than those who disrupt as their personal destiny. The damage he's caused is just as great, either way.

I think it's a mistake to overestimate the damage Foghorn Leghorn has caused, or even to worry much about it at all. Fact is (as you yourself know better than most), even the most rational and unhysterical sceptics of the Official Yarn can easily be depicted as ranting idiots, crackpots or worse, and in fact nearly always are so depicted.

One very recent case in point:

Christopher Hitchens attacks Gore Vidal for being a 'crackpot'

Former protégé takes America's great man of letters to task for adopting 9/11 conspiracy theories

By Kate Youde

Independent, Sunday, 7 February 2010

Nafeez Ahmed replies in the same edition, typically long-windedly:

Hitchens Has No Clothes: A response to ‘Vidal Loco’

I wish they had asked you instead, Jack. Though I like Ahmed, and though he does manage to make some good points, a reply to Hitchens surely has to be a lot sharper than that, in both senses of the word.

What Ahmed calls "Hitchens's contempt for reality..." is mostly predicated on getting wasted at 7am every day.

In some respect it doesn't matter who's cutting the cheque. so long as the cheque's being cashed.

You think he gets up that early? Maybe, to pee, but at that time he'd be more likely going to bed.

MacC, the damage Jones has done is not restricted to his being an obnoxious clown whom the "debunkers" can falsely associate with all skeptical claims about 9/11, even the ones he doesn't share. That's a very small part of it.

Vidal is a great mind and Hitchens is a known hatchet man, so when he gets the Hitchens smear, it's easy to see through it. But Vidal could hardly be said to have been a leader of the former 9/11 truth movement. Jones, unfortunately, could legitimately be called a leader, perhaps the most prominent one. His followers often overwhelm the rest of the 9/11 skeptics, in volume and too often in numbers. He taught what became the dominant style: the loud, male, right-wing, self-centered and generally fact-free heroic posture of We Are Change, which became the dominant group. (Believe it or not, that was in reaction to me. To oversimplify, Luke started WAC because he thought I was boring, which sometimes I was.) Nowadays WAC is a teabag site, go and look.

When a Hitchens launches nasty attacks by association or ridicule on Vidal, they're not actually true and easily refuted. He does some damage of course because labeling works so well, but it's not like he could buttress his nonsense with logic or facts, so there are limits to it.

When I say Alex Jones promotes racism, a rabid homophobia, fake survivalism, quack cures, a fictional view of the ruling class and its practices (the "New World Order"), flag-waving nationalism, celebrity worship, libertarian "get off my property" economics, bad religion and bizarre Obama-centered woo in the mode of Beck and Orly Taitz; and when I say he has associated all of these successfully with 9/11 truth, which to him was nothing more than his horse to ride into a new niche on the left, and that he managed to do this with some unfortunate collaboration from good people who knew better but thought he was a necessary ally, tainting them in the process and sowing discouragement within the former movement, do you care to dispute these facts as false?

It's funny, I was just reading a great critique of Alex Jones over at a forum I found linked via the DU 9/11 dungeon. The pieces aren't 'done' as the author admits, but it is a great start, with some good analysis and the links to back it up. (Moreover, I enjoyed the tone of the piece, no talk of shill this or shill that--) I'm tempted to just paste the whole thing in here since it looks like one of those ad-sponsored free forums that tend to disappear, but I don't want to derail the original thread. Here's a select few quotes; there are three parts to it:

Part I Alex Jones in Context

Lee Harvey Coogan @ ReopenKennedyCase forum wrote:Jones on the other hand maintains an agnostic Libertarian position which labels the left and right debate as a meaningless tool utilised by the elites as a form of social control. George Bush, was once his cash cow but now that Obama is on the scene Jones is on air constantly berating Obama’s ‘socialism’ and his govt run healthcare plans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9-mbOHIwKo) Yet, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, a genuine socialist (and a person who generally enjoys the support of Prison Planet) has extensive government funded healthcare programs running throughout his own country. Jones ideological perspective shows its first cracks here. He seems to ignore the fact that the very people advocating Chavez’s overthrow are the same type of groups lobbying against US healthcare reform as enacted by Obama.

CONSPIRIHIPOCRISY.
1) Jones's championing of the right to bare arms is an interesting example of what I term conspirihypocrisy, as he and many of his advocates rail against the evils of the secret government yet fail to see that the very masters of war (The Military Industrial Complex and gun manufacturers) they decry also have massive shares in the very weapons and munitions companies he and his citizen militia fans utilise. Indeed the weapons they are armed with often come directly from military surplus (http://www.scribd.com/doc/18414637/Equi ... itia-Group).

Part 2: Alex Jones On The Kennedy Assassination. (I found this one the most damning & interesting in some ways, and it goes into Jones' right hand man, Paul Joseph Watson...)

...it’s apparent that Jones had never even bothered to even turn a page of Marr's book before discussing the topic with him. Instead, Jones literally seemed to be one of the "I've watched JFK and become an instant expert" fraternity.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnOyOFj_n4w). Jones kicked off proceedings by absurdly stating that Kennedy was very much an Eastern establishment 'Blue blood'. To which Marr's replied to the contrary and gave him a run down of Kennedy's family background (http://www.youtube.co /watch?v=U1eI2_NricM) How on earth anyone
could think of JFK a 2nd generation Irish Catholic as being a waspish member of the Eastern establishment is beyond me. (http://www.annrachelmarlowe.com/2005/08 ... od-values/}

Alex Jones Part 3: Kennedy Assassination, Bohemian Grove and Conclusion.
Carl Ogelsby a well respected commentator and researcher in the Assassination community said in the 1992 documentary ‘Beyond JFK; The Question of Conspiracy’

“We must be careful of running into the ether of our own
imaginations”

And, of course, for more hard questions about Alex Jones, see 8bitagent's thread "Confessions of a former Alex Jones fan"

Re: Controlled Opposition: Hard Questions About Alex Jones

Postby JackRiddler » Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:57 pm

wombat, you're very kind, thanks!

Secrets, that's a very good analysis of Jones and of the culture that breeds such prophets. I love it when a writer can't spell but is good anyway, because he's smart and confident in what he has to say. The section taking apart Watson's book is really funny.

Choice cuts:

Were Jones alive in the 60’s when Kennedy was President, I imagine he and his ilk would have railed against the President for reigning in the US steel industry and protested his involvement with the socialistic United Nations and would have criticised Kennedy for being soft on communism. Don’t fool yourself, he would have.

What distresses me though is that people automatically assume that just because you are interested in the field of political research that Jones has enmeshed himself in that you follow his lead and you concur with idiots like David Icke. I don't want Jones, Paul Watson, Icke or John Hankey representing me on any opinion full stop. Nor hopefully will you, after reading this piece.

The world is run on a lethal and complex mixture of timing, ideology and money. To go any more in depth would further bore the reader whom I congratulate for venturing this far. I guess all I can hope for is that this helps people understand why I feel Jones and his kind are a significant problem in our area of concern (that being the Kennedy assassination). I shudder to think that people prefer Jones to John Pilger, Lisa Pease, Jim DiEugenio, Michael Moore (for his faults) Jon Ronson, Naomi Kline, Louis Theroux, John Sweeney, and Len Osanic amongst numerous others and as a research community we really need to tell these wannabe’s enough is enough.

The most worrying aspect about Jones from what I have picked up in discussions with his advocates of is that they seem to decry anything that they dont understand as manipulation. History, is seen as some sort of force or tool of the powers that be to suppress and confuse the public (which gives Jones flock an excuse to ignore or butcher it to fit their own themes). History, has been butchered in the past, we all know that. But that does not make it's study irrelevant. Its through proper study of it's disembowlment that we learn and grow.

As we have seen in the beginning, the same thing goes for Jones and his hypocritical anti ideology stance. He does not understand political thought, hence he berates any body who does, while he blatantly rips off left wing academics, journalists and authors.

Bump. Sum moar luv 4 Alex, re: his possible backing/funding/financial capabilities/assets. Tread carefully. I broke the link because "zionist" and Jeff Rense come up too much for my liking but there may be some solid info wrapped in the neonazi shit. The "high powered" firm used by Seagram's heirs and AJ alike has a whopping 6 people and takes credit cards, so please, keep that in mind.

http://www.lawyers.com/Texas/Austin/Schurig,-Jetel,-Beckett-and-Tackett-2188075-f.html

http colon slash slash www dot alexjonesmachine dot com slash betlev dot htm

Short form: AJ has some serious high-powered attorney. Sold a lot of DVDs, apparently.

Bhavani Lev is actually Holly B. Lev, she changed her name. Well, I guess it depends where she is and what she's doing as to which name she uses. On the Organic India website her profile says, "It was the summer of 1996 when Holly B. Lev, an American traveller, came to India in search for answers to the void she felt in her life. Hailing from a wealthy family of Virginia,..." and "In the villages surrounding Kukrail, Bhavani (her Indian name) is an enigma."

This is all very interesting, especially when one understands to whom the "wealthy family of Virginia" refers.

In a 2007 article entitled "Organic Growth" the author descibes Lev as, "Holly Bronfman-Lev, an entrepreneur who, he said, gave up a privileged lifestyle to devote her time to bettering the lives of Indian farmers." That sounds very nice, a generous thing to do...but, wait a minute...did he say Bronfman?

The author goes on..."(she is the daughter of Edgar Bronfman (Sr.), former chairman and owner of the Seagram's Company)." Yep, he said Bronfman alright! Good golly, Holly!

...

So enough about Mrs. Lev...this gets me wondering...Elizabeth Schurig is Holly's lawyer and Elizabeth Schurig is Alex and Kelly Jones' lawyer. HUH? Why do the Joneses have the same attorney as little 'ol Holly Bronfman-Lev? Schurig probably doesn't give many discounts, I mean once you're working for the Bronfmans, I doubt there's a sliding scale to accomodate less wealthy clients, but I could be wrong. Jones begs for money all the time. Does the money bomb money help pay for Jones' high priced Bronfman lawyer? Hmmmm?

And how does Elizabeth feel representing someone who globally rails against the Federal Reserve and it's evil ways; while she's helping Holly B. manage things? Maybe Elizabeth just doesn't listen to the show or watch any of the videos. She's probably too busy. Whatever. Let's look at those documents in Texas again.

According to Texas records, when Free Speech Systems was born Nov. 16, 2007, the address of the owners (Alex and Kelly Jones) was listed on Dogwood Creek Drive. It is in quite a fancy neighborhood once you see past the wall. In fact, the Travis County Appraisal District has the house owned by "JONES E & K NICHOLS", deeded August 30, 2007, with a current value of $725,965.00. Gee Alex, I guess you sold a few more DVD's than I thought.

But wait, on January 3, 2008, Ms. Schurig assisted the Joneses again in respect to Free Speech Systems and filed a "Certificate of Correction" which deleted Kelly Jones at the Dogwood address as a manager of Free Speech systems, and changed Alex's Jones' address to 910 West Mary St. Curious.

But wait again, Ms. Schurig did the same thing to Jones Productions LLC formed Nov.14, 2007. On Jan. 3, 2008, she filed a correction; but there she changed Alex's address to 100 Congress Ave., 22nd floor.

Wait a minute, I know where that building is; it's down by the "Bat Bridge." It's the location of Schurig Jetel Beckett Tackett, Ms. Elizabeth's office. So now Alex's corporate address is a Bronfman's lawyer's address?

Let's look at those other Jones-owned companies.

How about Prison Planet TV LLC? That entity was born Nov. 15, 2007 and shows the "manager" to be Magnolia Holdings Limited Partnership at the 100 Congress, 22nd floor address. But wait, on Jan. 7, 2008, busy little Elizabeth corrected the Certificate of Formation by altering the "Governing Authority" to become Alex Jones, at the 100 Congress, 22nd floor address. Curiouser and curioser.

Let's look at Jones Report LLC which was formed on Nov. 15, 2007 with Magnolia Holdings LP as the governing authority. On Jan. 3, 2008, busy, busy Elizabeth filed yet another Certificate of Correction which altered the Governing Authority to be Alex Jones....at the 100 Congress, 22nd floor address.

How about Infowars LLC? It was formed Nov. 15, 2007 as well, and on Jan. 7, 2008, yet another Certificate of Correction was filed, altering the "Governing Authority" to become Alex Jones, at the 100 Congress, 22nd floor address.

So, what I'm seeing here is:

* David Sewell taking care of business until summer or fall of 2007.

* Alex and Kelly getting a fine house on August 30, 2007.

* Elizabeth Schurig, with obvious connections to the Bronfmans, is now taking care of business for the Joneses and setting up several Jones companies mid November 2007.

* Elizabeth Schurig stepping in and getting busy "correcting" company documents the first week of the new year 2008; taking Mrs. Kelly off of everything, and changing addresses. (Which makes me wonder in what authority did Kelly make the statement in Chris Arnold's report that she is an owner/manager?)

* The only company formed by Jones that has not been "corrected" by Schurig is A. Emric Productions formed May 10, 2007. David Sewell is listed as organizer on the document.

Alex Jones is of course currently the target of a campaign to get him to push the "ZOG" view of world conspiracy. Here as one example of that is the commentary accompanying a Youtube video recently put up to criticize/pressure him:

Hmm, I wonder who that could be...

As Alex Jones continues to fall, other fake patriot leaders like Allan Watt will eventually start to admit the discovered shill is Alex Jones. They are all vying for his spot as patriot leader. They are not telling us for our benefit. This is simply a power shift among the fake patriot leaders. Mainly among the radio show hosts.

Alex Jones Jewish Connections

1.) He has a Jewish wife named Kelly Rebeca Nichols.

2.) He has three(3) Jewish children with his wife Kelly Rebecca Nichols.

3.) He and his wife and children are all eligible for Israeli citizenship under Israels Law of Return.

4.) He has at least nineteen(19) Jewish sponsors and advertizers that financially support his radio show and websites.

5.) He has a Jewish lawyer named Elizabeth M. Schurig who is also the lawyer for Holly Lev Bronfman, Edgar Bronfmans sister, meaning that there are only two degrees of separation between Alex Jones and the Bronfman family. The Bronfman family is one of the most powerful Jewish Zionist families in the world.

6.) His flagship radio station, KLBJ AM, in Austin, Texas, is owned by Emmis Communications, a media conglomerate based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The founder, president, CEO, and chairman of Emmis Communications is a dual Israeli citizen Zionist Jew named Jeffrey H. Smulyan.

7.) His radio show is broadcast on Sirius XM satellite radio. The chairman of Sirius XM Radio is a Jew named Eddy W. Hartenstein. The CEO of Sirius XM Radio is a Jew named Mel Karmazin. The President and Chief Content Officer of Sirius XM Radio is a Jew named Scott Greenstein. Of the six(6) executive officers of Sirius XM Radio, five(5) are Jews.

8.) Alex Jones' best friend, raunchy comedian Joe Rogan

9.) 911truth.org founder John Gray is a known associate of Mossad agent and arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. Khashoggi has owned companies with very similar names to the Genesis Communications Network (GCN). Kissing cousins at the very least.

10.) Alex Jones incessant talk of long dead Nazis running the New World Order. He says Zionists are actually Teutonic Germans.
