RT News -- Russia's answer to CNN International, w/ twist

In a major, conservative midwestern US city, I'm watching cable news coverage of USS Liberty survivors at Arlington. Earlier, Ray McGovern was being interviewed on how the CIA probably abducted that Iranian scientist. The anchor, in DC, is American, and talks about the things that "we" do. It's completely surreal--few hints that it's Russian. Clever, and like a wake-up call.

Highly recommended. Makes Al-Jazeera look like Fox.

See this thread for an article link and specific discussion re: this.

RT, formerly known as Russia Today, is a news outlet owned by the Russian state... That the Russian government would have a program similar to Voice of America should come as a surprise to no one. However, the more curious question is why do they repeatedly shill for Alex Jones and We Are Change, while providing copious amounts of time for the fascistic American “Patriot” to voice its views?

I'm not so sure, geogeo, a friend who's pretty well informed about Russia tells me it's pretty tightly controlled by the Putin regime. And isn't Alex Jones featured in there now and again as an expert on American politics?

Max Keiser is on there for a regular show. I don't know the politics of the station but I agree with Max about 80% of the time.

Bye Ya'll!

I followed their coverage of the the recent subway bombings in Moscow with some interest. Unsurprisingly, it was like watching CNN in New York City.

That said, I do admit to occasionally, and with discretion, scanning RT for surface dirt on the western half of the global criminal empire. But do they really know what they are doing by (indiscriminately?) hosting both the views of Alex Jones (huh?) and someone with substance like Michael Hudson?

Max Keiser strikes me as more entertainment and catharsis than substance. Yellow journalism for discriminating(?) people?

They are probably using the CNN model of news reporting.

As to Max Keiser, I see him sort of as the Jon Stewart of Economy and Finance. I couldn't watch that stuff if dull economists dish it out.

Freedom of the Press means that Americans are free to choose their propaganda.

RussiaToday.ru did great reporting on the Russo/Georgia War, though I think the best was done by on the scene LiveJournal bloggers. Other MSM took their Moscow bombing coverage without crediting them. They are quite shy of criticizing the government directly, especially on video, but they will have plenty of articles and analysis that does. Russia isn't currently at war or desiring to rule the planet, and appears to bug the NWO in more ways than one so it's hard to tell what kind of mouthpiece RT and RTAmerica are until the need for coverups is higher. They are obviously Russophiles.

I like Lavelle's show, some hate it, and him, but I've grown fond of both and usually DL every show. Khrushchev's blog is an interesting view from a former Afghanistan warrior. About the rest I don't follow closely.

Online I do catch Tarpley, Jones, Madsen, McGovern, Schechter, Choussudovsky, Laughland, etc on RTAmerica. I think it's totally great to see those people on MSM. Are they ever on US MSM?

Jones does get semi-regularly interviewed (in "calm" [for him] mode) opposite Geraldo (more than ironic considering their spat in NYC where AJ and 911 Truthers interrupted their live show - with Geraldo basically implying they were 'fags' ala Larry Craig).

But yes, RT has not only featured Jones and Madsen regularly but also the young upstart Texan hip-hop artist and radioshow host Chris Geo:

But before criticizing RT too harshly, recall that they were one of the few to do an interview with Hank Albarelli:

Whoa, you have register grenade launchers now?!

Jones seems positively sedate once he realized his appearance wasn't to be a one-off, but I don't think he will ever step out of his mold.

Great Geo segment, forwarding. You're not going to see that on MSM anyone. Thanks, SMiles

Oh, and I wanted to edit my pervious post to say that I agreed that the Moscow bombing coverage was just like what I remember CNN, FOX coverage was like, in short, noxious.

So it's CNN meets CCTV meets Prison Planet meets Sorcha Faal....... That sounds about right!
