U.S. Nuclear Weapons Have Been Compromised by Unidentified Aerial Objects
Ex-military men say unknown intruders have monitored
and even tampered with American nuclear missiles
Group to call on U.S. Government to reveal the facts
Witness testimony from more than 120 former or retired military personnel points to an ongoing and alarming intervention by unidentified aerial objects at nuclear weapons sites, as recently as 2003. In some cases, several nuclear missiles simultaneously and inexplicably malfunctioned while a disc-shaped object silently hovered nearby. Six former U.S. Air Force officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence about these events at the National Press Club and urge the government to publicly confirm their reality.
One of them, ICBM launch officer Captain Robert Salas, was on duty during one missile disruption incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base and was ordered to never discuss it. Another participant, retired Col. Charles Halt, observed a disc-shaped object directing beams of light down into the RAF Bentwaters airbase in England and heard on the radio that they landed in the nuclear weapons storage area. Both men will provide stunning details about these events, and reveal how the U.S. military responded.
Captain Salas notes, “The U.S. Air Force is lying about the national security implications of unidentified aerial objects at nuclear bases and we can prove it.” Col. Halt adds, “I believe that the security services of both the United States and the United Kingdom have attempted—both then and now—to subvert the significance of what occurred at RAF Bentwaters by the use of well-practiced methods of disinformation.”
The group of witnesses and a leading researcher, who has brought them together for the first time, will discuss the national security implications of these and other alarmingly similar incidents and will urge the government to reveal all information about them. This is a public-awareness issue.
Declassified U.S. government documents, to be distributed at the event, now substantiate the reality of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites extending back to 1948. The press conference will also address present-day concerns about the abuse of government secrecy as well as the ongoing threat of nuclear weapons.

As stated in the other thread about this, it's terribly awesome to see Dr. Steven Greer's name nowhere on this. His Project Camelot interview freaked me out, like I thought he was about to shapeshift at any moment kind of freaked out. Not that my reality tunnel has a lane for lizard overlords per se but they aren't sufficiently prohibited from it so as to cause ease while watching people like him and the Queen.

I haven't felt right about Greer since seeing this research on his associations, and I haven't known what to make of the Disclosure Project ever since. They were saying the same things we'd read about from the likes of Timothy Good and Stan Friedman, which anybody could do, but a guy who is friends with Lawrence Rockefeller actually did, for whatever that's worth. Not that Camelot did themselves any favors, but perhaps they both jumped the shark of credibility once they collided with Greer on that interview. A camera lens bathed in mysteriously-well-funded opinion leaders.

But anyway, does this UFO-USAF-Nuke story, the synchronous premiere of Teh Ev3nt, and appointment of the official U.N. ambassador to off-world beings collectively mean anything to anybody else, or just me? The "hits" seem to be getting both more frequent and more significant with each passing crest of the wave, almost as thought they're building up a standing wave towards something.

I remember reading increasingly about the Taliban and OBL in MSM sources beginning around April 2001.

Just to jump across another inferential chasm for the fun of it, how would you convince your friends, family and neighbors that the invasion is being faked? Is there any point?

How do you convince your friends, family and neighbors the invasion has already happened, many many years ago? We have met the enemy , hard to recognize when they look just like us.

Ok sure, could have said that before 9/11. What about inoculating our loved ones against a specific psyop which seems to be picking up momentum?

I don't think it is possible nor is it our job.

Reality Uncovered has presented some alternative background information on the events surrounding the Echo Flight malfunction that some here may find of interest.

I'm admittedly a bit doubtful that real disclosure will originate with retired air force guys with books to sell.

Is it possible to find out who is running PR for this event? Surely somebody was typing up releases and emailing journalists about this.

That was interesting. At least there seemed to be an underlying anti-nuke message to the whole thing, which I can accept in a positive light. Nothing too shocking in terms of new information, though. Has anyone got a link to the whole of the Marchetti paper referenced by Hastings?

How the CIA Views the UFO Phenomenon
by Victor Marchetti
SECOND LOOK, Vol. 1, No. 7, May '79

There are many myths, few facts, and much speculation about what the CIA knows of the UFO phenomenon. These, combined with the public's distrust of the clandestine agency, have led to a strong popular belief that the CIA is at the center of a government-wide conspiracy to cover-up the truth about UFOs. It usually follows that the cover-up is designed to keep us ignorant, or at least confused and doubtful, about contacts or visitations by intelligent beings from outer space. Thus, if we only knew what the CIA knows, and is covering up, we would be better able to understand and deal with aliens. And that would be a good thing.

I do not know from my own firsthand experience if there are UFOs. I have never seen one. Nor have I seen conclusive, empirical, or physical evidence that they really exist. But, I do know that the CIA and U.S. Government have been concerned over the UFO phenomenon for many years and that their attempts, both past and recent, to discount the significance of the phenomenon and to explain away the apparent lack of official interest in it have all the earmarkings of a classic intelligence cover-up.

My theory is that we have, indeed, been contacted--perhaps even visited-- by extraterrestrial beings, and that the U.S. Government, in collusion with other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public. The purpose of the international conspiracy is to maintain a workable stability among the nations of the world and for them, in turn, to retain institutional control over their respective populations. Thus, for these governments to admit there are beings from outer space attempting to contact us, beings with mentalities and technological capabilities obviously far superior to ours, could, once fully perceived by the average person, erode the foundations of the Earth's traditional power structure. Political and legal systems, religions, economic and social institutions could all soon become meaningless in the mind of the public. The national oligarchical establishments, even civilization as we know it, could collapse into anarchy. Such extreme conclusions are not necessarily valid, but they probably accurately reflect the fears of the "ruling class" of the major nations, whose leaders (particularly those in the intelligence business) have always advocated excessive governmental secrecy as being necessary to preserve "national security." The real reason for such secrecy is, of course, to keep the public uninformed, misinformed, and, therefore, malleable.

During my years in the CIA, UFOs were not a subject of common discussion. But neither were they treated in a disdainful or derisive manner, especially not by the agency's scientists. Instead, the topic was rarely discussed at internal meetings. It seemed to fall into the category of " very sensitive activities," e.g., drug and mind-control operations, domestic spying, and other illegal actions. People simply did not talk about the UFO phenomenon.

There were, however, rumors at high levels of the CIA.....rumors of unexplained sightings by qualified observers, of strange signals being received by the National Security Agency (the US Government's electronic intercept and communications intelligence collector), and even of little gray men whose ships had crashed, or had been shot down, being kept "on ice" by the Air Force at FTD (Foreign Technology Division) at Wright- Patterson AF Base in Dayton, Ohio. And there was the odd case of the lady from Maine who, while in a hypnotic trance, had allegedly communicated with a starship.

Most of these rumors, I found to be unimpressive....except for the strange signals from outer space being received by NSA. Perhaps that was because I had once been an NSA officer. Or perhaps it was because I had frequent contact with that agency while serving with the CIA, and the little I learned of the signals was treated with extreme caution even by SIGINT standards.

But let us assume that there have been contacts by intelligent beings from beyond the Earth. How would the CIA and US Government respond to such a phenomenon?

I don't think it is possible nor is it our job.

Really?! I'm with McKenna on innoculating ourselves (and our friends, family, loved ones and fellow humanity) against the high-water mark of belief / expectation of salvation from the UFOs. It's what I've been doing ever since reading Vallee's 1979 MESSENGERS OF DECEPTION and hearing McKenna's "Definitive UFO Tape", "Truth Hallucinations" audiobook (and the Missing Chapter of the print edition) etc.

The Missing Chapters of TRUE HALLUCINATIONS

Chapters 20 and 21 from the talking book True Hallucinations by Terence McKenna.
Chapter 20: The Oversoul as Saucer

...

There is building in global society an increasingly intense expectation of the intervention into human history by UFOs. It is very similar in tone to the buildup of messianic expectation in the Hellenistic world in the several centuries preceding the birth of Christ. The leaders of Roman society may have been caught off guard by the appearance of Christ, but they had no one to blame but themselves since milllions of people in the ancient world were expectantly awaiting some kind of messiah. So today, science and govenment koo-koo the idea of world contact with the UFOs, while the contact cults grow ever larger and more insistent that contact is about to occur.

Imagine, therefore, what you may never have seriously imagined before. Imagine what would happen if the UFOs were to appear. Imagine a spaceship of the close encounters of the third kind variety suddenly appearing in orbit around the Earth. Television and mass media would carry its image to every man, woman and child on the planet. Governments would be paralyzed. Science would be helpless to explain where it came from or how it got here. Millenarian hysteria would break out everywhere. The UFO would be hailed as savior and denounced as antichrist. The end of the world would appear imminent, and all this would occur before the contact was more than a visual image. Then the UFO would begin its revelation. Vast displays of beneficent power can be expected. Perhaps it would mysteriously neutralize all weapons of mass destruction, or it might use some sort of ray to cure all terrestrial cancer. Whatever it does one may be sure that its actions will be impressive. Its actions will convert millions to the UFO religion in a space of hours. Indeed, its actions will be specifically designed to overwhelm us with the reality of its power and presence. That will close the first stage of the revelation.

The second stage will be the teachings. Telepathically imparted, the specifics of the teachings cannot be anticipated, but they will urge love, voluntary simplicity, concern for one another, renunciation of war, perhaps renunciation of the destructive application of science. Whatever the teachings, the UFO will promise immense reward to those who follow them and dire consequences for those who do not. And the teachings will be delivered in so poetically perfect a way, so rich in understanding and appealing nuances that no one will doubt their origin in a being wise and good and immensely superior to ourselves. The delivery of the teachings will set the stage for the third and last and most shocking phase of the revelation: the departure.

The saucer, promising vaguely to return, will simply disappear. The entire process could take less than a month. If this seems a short time recall that the entire public career of Christ lasted only three years. Christ's career occured in a world where information could move no faster than a horse's gallup. Yet three years in one small part of the world was all that was necessary to launch a world religion that was vital for 1500 years. In a world of electronic communication the impact of the saucer's arrival, miracles, teaching and departure would be incalculable - even if it all occured within a month. The saucer would leave in its wake a science utterly unable to provide any answers to the important questions concerning what had gone on. The vast majority of people would be fanatical converts to the teachings of the saucer, and any institution in opposition to those teachings could expect to be swept away almost overnight. The departure of the UFO would create a sense of abandonment, the agony of which could be expected to echo in the human psyche for centuries. The only panacea would be the religion of the saucer, the religion left behind. Science would be discredited and soon abandoned in favor of a thousand or more years of exegesis of the saucerian message. Is it not a familiar pattern in the light of our discussion of Christ and Rome?

What will never be said in the wake of such an event and so must be said now while there is still time for all of the above to occur and yet still be deception. A benign deception designed to save us from our advanced science and infantile ethics, but a deception nevertheless. The saucer, no matter how alien it appears, no matter how advanced its demonstrations of power, is NOT a vehicle from some other star system, it is the oversoul of humanity up to its oldest trick. If one knows this one can live through the revelation and the destruction of our scientific world and yet evade the immense power of this most powerful of all transference phenomenon and thereby maintain the integrity of one's own soul and spirit. Remember, I am not a debunker of flying saucers or a defender of science, I am a contactee, and this book is the painstakingly told story of my own involvement with the UFOs. I am one of those Vallee has pinpointed as being a carrier of ideas that pave the way for the scenario I have just described. Yet from it all I have learned that there is no religious revelation more satisfying than the hard won fruits of simple understanding. And there is no liberation to compare with freeing oneself from the illusions and delusions of the age in which one lives.

I reach these conclusions through my use and familiarity with psilocybin and other psychedelic drugs. They immerse their user in the world of the oversoul and make one privileged to at least a part of its mechanics of operation. They allow a private dialogue with the oversoul that is outside the context of the struggle between science and revelation that leaves no choice between the alienation of the rationalist and the tired formulas of the fanatic believer. Psychedelic drugs hold out the possibility of healing the breach between science and morality at the level of the individual, thus freeing one to evolve independent of the chaos and transformation the UFOs may soon bring to humanity.

Vallee's recent book 'Messengers of Deception' vibrates with fear of the unconscious and alienation from the matrix of the larger psyche out of which rational thought has emerged. He fears the destruction of rationalism and scientific thought, yet never once does he mention the potential world wrecking crisis that the undirected development of science and technology has brought into being. He paints himself as an open-minded investigator of UFOs, yet never questions the motives of the retired and unnamed intelligence officers in which he places so much faith. It is impossible that the CIA is unaware of the social impact belief in UFOs is having? If they were unaware of it before then surely the recent writings of Vallee himself must have alerted them to the potential challenge UFO beliefs pose to orthodox institutions. Based on Vallee's own ideas of an informational struggle between rational and irrational elements, how was he able to ignore the possibility that the mutilations which he is so eager to connect with UFOs are nothing more that a govenment agency's clumsy attempt to discredit the genuine UFO phenomenon? It is a typical method of the intelligence community to discredit human groups it opposes by faking atrocities in such a way that they appear to have been committed by the group whose discrediting is sought. Vallee gives examples of this but never suspects that some government agency might be using this technique to impede the transfer of loyalties from political institutions to the UFOs. He mentions the proximity of animal mutilations to high-security government installations but never suggests this might be because such installations are the source of these mutilations. Few UFO sightings involve confusion among witnesses over whether or not what they saw was a UFO or a helicopter. Yet in the animal mutilation cases many witnesses insist a helicopter was involved. Vallee is at pains to say no physical evidence of a UFO has ever been collected. Yet later he passes over the fact that a quite ordinary surgical scalpel was found at one cattle mutilation site. It seems possible to me that some people in government have read Vallee and are familiar with his theories regarding UFOs as a factor introducing shifts in belief systems and institutional loyalties on a global scale. Without knowing what UFOs really are these persons and agencies have launched smokescreen operations designed to cast doubt on the motives and harmlessness of UFOs and so to retard or halt the shift of loyalties and beliefs now reaching epidemic proportions. I suspect that Vallee's book may be the opening shot in a media war whose purpose will be to connect the occult, right-wing fanatacism, and animal mutilations to the UFO, all in an effort to cast doubt on the vast power and benign intent of the saucer phenomenon. Vallee's title 'Messengers of Deception' bears a curious resemblance to J. Edgar Hoover's 'Masters of Deceit'. There the boogey man was communism. In Vallee's book we are told the new boogey man is UFO phenomenon. Who chose the title for Vallee's book? Was it Vallee or the mysterious major who was so helpful in guiding Vallee down these new avenues of speculation? I believe that Vallee whether wittingly or unwittingly is himself a messenger of deception and has become the spearhead of a conscious effort to sow even deeper confusion in society regarding UFOs.

We might say it is an effort foredoomed to failure. The collective overmind of our species is the source of the UFO and its designs cannot be deflected or turned aside. Its viewpoint is one of thousands of years and its means visionary and charismatic belief systems which act to restore the balance between understanding of and reverence for the universe is a message more powerful than any offered by the profane materialist societies that have grown so foolish as to imagine themselves the stewards of human destiny. Humanity alone and each of us individualy is the steward of human destiny. This is the real meaning of the UFOs and the experiment at La Chorrera.

...

I believe that the transpersonal component of the human psyche is not distinct from matter and that therefore it can literally do anything. It is not subject to the will of any individual. It has a will and an understanding that is orders of magnitude more sophisticated than any one of the individuals who compose it as cells compose a body. It has a plan, glimpsed by individuals only as vision or religious hierophany. Nevertheless, the plan is unfolding. There will be many more UFO sightings, many more close contacts. Our belief systems are undergoing accelerated evolution via increased input from the other. Somewhere ahead of us there is a critical barrier where we will at last have enough data to obtain an integrating insight into the riddle of humanity's relation to the UFO. I believe that as this happens the childhood of our species will pass away and when this is done we will be free to use the staggering understanding that humankind and the UFO are one.

And I think McKenna, Vallee, myself and others (heck, even Steven Greer with his "When Disclosure Serves Secrecy" white paper pre and post 911) have gotten word out about the possible Grand UFO Deception scenarios:

Henry Kissinger - 1991 Bilderberger conference, Evians, France.

Greetings UFOlks,

It's more than a little ironic for me to be "defending" Greer on
this issue as I was never a fan of his until he published this
white paper (and a different pre 911 version I believe) where
he warned about the spin the Government, Military, Industrial
Complex/Intelligence Community might put on their eventual
release of "the truth" about UFOs as alien technology.

However, I have always agreed with Greer's detractors that his
mixing multiple issues (each deserving their own focus, IMO)
into his attempts at getting the Government to acknowledge "the
reality of UFOs", ultimately sabotages those efforts.

But as for this issue of Shadowy Cabals and UFO Deceptions ...
there is more to it than some on this List seem willing to
acknowledge.

Firstly, I think it should be pointed out that this same article
by Greer appeared on this list back in June 2002: Cosmic
Deception: Let The Citizen Beware

http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/upd ... -010.shtml

And a transcript of his discussion of this topic with Art Bell
can be found here

http://www.disclosureproject.org/artbelljune172002.htm

Secondly, this issue of the actual and potential human hand in
misusing UFO mimicry technologies and techniques is well
established by researchers like Jacques Vallee and other
authors. See his 1979 Messengers of Deception, 1975 Invisible
College but more recently in his 1991 book Revelations and his
1996 novel Fastwalker. (excerpt/citation 1 below)

Thirdly, upon which fronts might our listers object to the
various "Manufactured Enemy" hypotheses, whether they relate to
Staged Alien Invasions, British "Martian" Strategems or 911
Parapolitical Fact? The individual accusations within Greer's
declaration? Or Greer himself? Apparently it is simply on Greer
himself as much of what he discusses in this article is
legitimate and of much concern.

... on the very issue of whether groups of humans have ever
considered manufacturing enemies:

Within the ParaUfological realms...

In Vallee's 1979 MoD he cites the declassified info in the
excellent book on WWII disinformation machinery, Bodyguard of
Lies, that describes the massive "double cross" efforts of the
LCS, London Controlling Section (referred to by the Brits as the
"Martians") that facilitated the allied victory. He speculates
about these same Psy-Op tactics and technologies continuing
their disinformation efforts after the war - only this time to
prevent another World War by uniting humanity against a common
enemy. Vallee goes on to document the common military tactic and
meme of manufacturing an enemy in order to rally populations for
into a unified force, whether it be to start a war with the
perceived enemy or to prevent a war by uniting countries against
a common outside threat, be it "Terrorism" or
"Extraterrestrials". He cites several late 1940s era science
fiction novels dealing with the theme of using an
extraterrestrial threat to unite the world. He cites the
infamous Report From Iron Mountain hoax which outlines an
allegedly tongue-in-cheek thesis for why war is the best way to
ensure economic stability and how the invention of threats, be
they extraterrestrial or ecological, would be necessary.

Report From Iron Mountain

http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/iron.html (excerpt/citation 2 below)

Within the ParaPolitical realms...

There are countless examples of the use of scapegoating to
accomplish the rallying of the people against an enemy, this
idea is commonly referred to as Strategies of Tension and
Hegelian Dialectic, Problem Reaction Solution. Some examples:

Most recently we have had horrific documentary evidence of our
own Government's Military Industrial/Intelligence Complex
intention and willingness to kill its own American citizens and
blame it on the Cubans as a pretext for war. Sound far-fetched?
This was reported by James Bamford in his 2000/2001 NYT best-
seller, Body of Secrets that revealed the existence of the
Operation Northwoods documents wherein the Joint Chiefs of staff
plotted to do just about everything that has "coincidentally"
come to pass on and since 911; destroying airliners, killing the
Americans onboard, sniper attacks in DC, destruction of
America's premier spacecraft, and other staged terror attacks.

The authenticity of the Operation Northwoods document has not

Finally, at the very least we know that the Air Force HAS used the veil
of ridicule associated with the UFO subject and the tools of
disinformation to keep hidden certain black budget activities secret;
examples would be the Air Force labeling sightings of the then secret
U2 spy plane as actual UFOs and the infamous case of Paul Bennewitz
being driven into madness at the hands of AFOSI officers and ufologist
Bill Moore.

Nuff said for now.

1 - Jacques Vallee on UFO Deception Theory

From an interview in Jonathan Vankin's 70 Greatest Conspiracies

The military may be experimenting with psychological warfare
techniques, as the Germans did in World War I, when they
projected images of the Virgin Mary on banks of smoke in an
effort to spook the French into saying their Rosaries instead of
killing Germans. Vallee also thinks that sham UFO reports might
be used as cover for tests of new military stealth technology.

But the most troubling "deception theory" Vallee poses is that
from time to time, the target of UFO hoaxes might be the general
public, or a segment thereof.

"In some cases," he says, "the community of ufologists may
simply be used in a sociological experiment because they are a
convenient group of people to test, to see how they react to
different rumors."

Sounds a bit improbable, but Vallee's research into the growth
of UFO "contactee" cults is suggests that such manipulation
occurs. In his book, Messengers of Deception, Vallee explored
the rise of a new kind of religious movement throughout the
world: the UFO Messiah cults, in which believers await the
coming of bubble-headed saviors in saucers. You can find these
groups in Europe and the Americas, in increasing numbers.

60GCAT: So there might be military applications for this
technology of deception?

Vallee: Our gods have always come from the sky. And how would a
god come from the sky today? He would come down in some kind of
space ship. He couldn't just appear out of the clouds, I mean,
that won't work. Although in World War I the Germans were using
psychological warfare by projecting photographs, slides, along
French lines. And I'm sure the French were doing the same thing
to the Germans. And there are very sophisticated devices now
being used in psychological warfare to create holograms, to
create visions to influence people.

Jacques Vallee on the Human Misuse of UFOs for Deception and
Mass Control

"I believe there is a machinery of mass manipulation behind the
UFO phenomenon. It aims at social and political goals by
diverting attention from some human problems and by providing a
potential release for tensions caused by others. The contactees
are part of that machinery. They are helping to create a new
form of belief: an expectation of actual contact among large
parts of the public. In turn this expectation makes millions of
people hope for the imminentrealization of that age-old dream:
salvation from above, surrender to the greater power of some
wise navigators of the cosmos. . . . However, if you take the
trouble to join me in the analysis of the modern UFO myth, you
will see human beings under the control of a strange force that
is bending them in absurd ways, forcing them to play a role in a
bizarre game of deception. This role may be very important if
changing social conditions make it desirable to focus the
attention of the public on the distant stars while obsolete
human institutions are wiped out and rebuilt in new ways. Is
this the deeper meaning of the UFO `deception'? Are the
manipulators, in the final analysis, nothing more than a group
of humans who have mastered a very advanced form of power? . . .
Let me summarize my conclusions thus far. UFOs are real. They
are an application of psychotronic technology; that is, they are
physical devices used to affect human consciousness. They may
not be from outer space; they may, in fact, be terrestrial-based
manipulating devices. Their purpose may be to achieve social
changes on this planet." Jacques Vallee, from Messengers of
Deception

Simon Harvey-Wilson on Vallee's book Revelations and French UFO
Deceptions

Cergy-Pontoise. Even if various government are involved in UFO
deception, their motives and methods may vary considerably. The
apparent abduction of Franck Fontaine at Cergy-Pontoise on the
outskirts of Paris in November 1979 is a good example. The story
is quite complex and is described in several UFO books (Evans,
1984). Franck and a couple of his friends were loading their
car with clothes to sell on their stall in a market about sixty
kilometres away. They had got up before dawn and, while the
others brought the clothes down from their flat, Franck remained
in the car to stop it stalling. They then saw a brilliantly
shining UFO and several smaller lights near the car and, after
some confusion, Franck was found to be missing. The incident was
reported to the police and received nation-wide publicity. One
week later Franck reappeared near where he had disappeared and
was amazed to discover that he had been missing for so long.
Most books that mention it leave the case open, however in
Jacques Vallee's book Revelations: Alien Contact and Human
Deception (1991, p.149) we get quite a different story. Vallee
quotes an unnamed official from French Air Force headquarters
who, in November 1980, admitted that the Cergy-Pontoise
abduction had actually been carried out by the French government
in order to observe the reactions and behaviour of the police,
media, scientific investigators and the public. The abduction
had been authorised by a member of the French cabinet and no
more than fifteen people knew what had happened. Franck Fontaine
had been grabbed, kept drugged in a secure place for a week and
then returned to where he had been abducted without knowing what
had really happened to him. Vallee advises that, to eliminate
such official deception in future, abductees should be promptly
checked for syringe marks and given blood and urine tests to
check for any knockout drugs. If Vallee's report is true, we
have the ironic situation of a leading Western government trying
to fool the public into thinking that UFO abductions do exist,
rather that their usual denials. The question that ufologists
may need to ask themselves now, is whether other countries carry
out similar fake abductions to assess public reactions, and if
so, how often do they do it? UFOs, Disinformation and Deception

2 - Report From Iron Mountain

The report included a number of recommendations that the
government should follow just in case peace did break out. For
instance, it suggested that a number of expensive institutions
be created that would mimic the economic function of a war, such
as: "(a) A comprehensive social-welfare program, directed toward
maximum improvement of general conditions of human life. (b) A
giant open-end space research program, aimed at unreachable
targets. (c) A permanent, ritualized, ultra-elaborate
disarmament inspection system, and variant of such a system."

The report also recommended that the government invent
"alternate enemies." For instance, it could mobilize the
population by scaring them with reports of extraterrestrial
threats, massive global environmental pollution, or "an
omnipresent, virtually omnipotent international police force."
Alternatively, the population could be roused by "socially
oriented blood games" done "in the manner of the Spanish
Inquisition and the witch trials of other periods."

3 - 911: What Aren't We Being Told? Analysis by John Judge
January 2002

"The planning for "terrorist attacks" and the domestic and
international response has been going on for nearly 30 years
now, with rising levels of sophistication and demand for
control. . . .

There were many things that could have been done differently in
the last 30 years to end war, terrorism and violence worldwide.
The United States not only failed to do them, it often did the
opposite. But building a military/intelligence/security
apparatus as the sole response possible or desireable insures
much more profit, social control and ultimate concentration of
power than the path that might lead to real security and peace.
Those wishing the latter were rarely consulted by the planners.

At some point, did all this preparatory thinking come to be
self-fulfilling prophecy awaiting only it's triggering incident?
We have many other examples of this same apparatus both
encouraging and standing aside for other violent actions that
became the excuse for repressive responses. In Europe it is
known as a "strategy of tension" that ultimately puts the hired
guns in charge of the ranch."

4 - Relevance of Antonio Negri to the Anti-Globalization
Movement

What's missing from the usual biographies of Toni Negri is the
charge that it took him far too long to come to the now commonly
accepted conclusions that 1) the terrorist campaign inaugurated
by the bombing of the Piazza Fontana in Milano on 12 December
1969 wasn't the work of either the far-left (the anarchists) or
the far-right (the fascists), but the Italian secret services;
and 2) this campaign -- now called "the strategy of tension" --
wasn't undertaken to destabilize or topple the government, but
to provide a pretext for its most reactionary elements to
strengthen themselves against an increasingly strong and
effective working class movement. The situationist Gianfranco
Sanguinetti came to these conclusions as early as 19 December
1969, when he published the extraordinary tract Is the Reichstag
Burning? In the following years, as State-sponsored terrorism
against targets in Italy became more common and more obvious,
Sanguinetti returned to the subject a couple of times: first in
The True Report on the Last Chance to Save Capitalism in Italy
(published in July 1975 and reprinted many times afterwards),
and then again in Remedy to Everything (also known as On
Terrorism and the State), which was published in Italy in 1979
and in France in 1980. Relentlessly persecuted by the Italian
government for his writings, Sanguinetti was vindicated in 1982,
when the so-called P2 scandal brought to light documents that
irrefutably proved that the Italian government had indeed been
employing "the strategy of tension" since the end of the 1960s
and through-out the 1970s. http://www.notbored.org/negri.html

5 - Threats to Democracy: The Radical Right in Italy After the
War, Chapters 4 thru 6

This book represents the first systematic research by a social
scientist on the radical right-wing movements in Italy since
1945. During the heyday of right-wing violence between 1969 and
1980, street aggressions, attacks, and murders were commonplace.
These bloody episodes were assumed to be the work of fanatical
bands of "political soldiers" and urban warriors loosely
controlled by secret services and other covert groups, which
used them as part of a "strategy of tension" pursued in domestic
and international circles. Franco Ferraresi here acknowledges
that these rightist groups were in fact permitted a certain
amount of freedom, and even in some cases actually aided, in the
hope that revulsion at terrorist tactics would have the effect
of mobilizing public opinion in favor of existing political
arrangements. However, he also studies the extent to which they
operated as autonomous units, while he carefully considers the
political heritage, the doctrines, and the ideology that
motivated them.

With the decline of violent activity on both extremes of the
political spectrum in the early 1980s, the theory and practice
so comprehensively discussed by Ferraresi seemed to have entered
a dormant stage. Ferraresi, however, places in context the
recent resurgence of neo-fascist forces in Italy, and of the so-
called New Right throughout Europe, together with the rise of
fundamentalism in many parts of the world.

7 - Mae Brussell on the Strategy of Tension

Transcribed excerpt (by the ever-active Brian Redman of
Conspiracy Nation fame) from a broadcast by Dave Emory on KFJC
radio in Los Altos Hills, California. In this show, Emory
discusses the 1987 book, The Ultimate Evil, journalist Maury
Terry's investigation of the Son of Sam murders.

Mae Brussell has been pointing out, for a number of years, her
thesis -- which has endured, by the way, a lot of scorn at the
hands of many people -- that in fact all of these serial killers
were, in fact, a form of agent provocateur. What this is,
basically, according to Mae's thesis (and it appears to be borne
out in terrifying fashion and degree by this particular book) is
that this is a type of application of the "strategy of tension".
That is you take a society and you unleash all of these
horrendous screwball killers -- or killers we're told are
screwballs -- it has the effect of driving the political
spectrum to the "right". People want "law and order". They want
stronger laws, more cops, more jails, quicker capital
punishment. And in general, it predisposes them to accepting the
incredible. It's just, "Well with all those 'nuts' out there,
you never know who's gonna do what." So, if 900 people "commit
suicide" in the jungle under preposterous circumstances, or if
"lone nuts" come foreward and begin killing politicians, it...
there's a context in which that occurs.

But again, this is a way of driving people to the "right". These
horrible killings, these apparent screwballs running all over
the place, just gives the impression of a society that is
decaying. "What we need is 'law and order.'" "We need a
Fuehrer." "We need someone to set this right." We need.......

9 - Operation Northwoods documents obtained via FOIA

April 30, 2001 - Pentagon Proposed Pretexts for Cuba Invasion in
1962

In his new expose of the National Security Agency entitled Body
of Secrets, author James Bamford highlights a set of proposals
on Cuba by the Joint Chiefs of Staff codenamed OPERATION
NORTHWOODS. This document, titled "Justification for U.S.
Military Intervention in Cuba" was provided by the JCS to
Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara on March 13, 1962, as the
key component of Northwoods. Written in response to a request
from the Chief of the Cuba Project, Col. Edward Lansdale, the
Top Secret memorandum describes U.S. plans to covertly engineer
various pretexts that would justify a U.S. invasion of Cuba.
These proposals - part of a secret anti-Castro program known as
Operation Mongoose - included staging the assassinations of
Cubans living in the United States, developing a fake "Communist
Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities
and even in Washington," including "sink[ing] a boatload of
Cuban refugees (real or simulated)," faking a Cuban airforce
attack on a civilian jetliner, and concocting a "Remember the
Maine" incident by blowing up a U.S. ship in Cuban waters and
then blaming the incident on Cuban sabotage. Bamford himself
writes that Operation Northwoods "may be the most corrupt plan
ever created by the U.S. government." Chairman, Joint Chiefs of

11 - Counterfeit Foe - The Ultimate Hegelian Dialectic by Paul
Joseph Watson

Military-industrial psy-ops has considered such programs before

Let's delve into the evidence of how technological deception has
been considered before, as a means of misleading populations.
The Kennedy era, anti-Castro covert action plan Operation
Mongoose was designed to destabilize Cuban society and turn it
against Fidel Castro. Under the umbrella of this strategy was a
program dubbed 'Elimination by Illumination.' It is found in the
Congressional Record, in "Alleged Assassination Plots Involving
Foreign Leaders, Interim Report of the Select Committee to Study
Government Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities,"
November 20, 1975. The plan was developed by an American
Intelligence military psy-op specialist named Edward Lansdale.

The operation was to have an American Submarine surface inside
Havana harbor at night and project a movie of a Jesus-like
figure on the underside of the low-lying clouds that form over
the harbor at night. A plane with muffled motors was to have
circled just above the clouds while another operative with a
loudspeaker exhorted the Cubans below to overthrow "Godless
Communism."

The plan was never put into action but was seriously considered
and, as stated, remains in the Congressional Record to this day.

An almost exact replica of this proposal came to light in a June
2000 Sydney Morning Herald report.

In 1991 during the Gulf War, top brass of the US Air Force drew
up plans to project a giant holographic image of Allah over
Baghdad. The scale of the project dictated a mirror several
kilometres across up in space. However, a more practical method
was suggested. When warm air lies on top of cold air, the
difference in density is enough to bend light. At higher
altitudes, a mirage can make whole landscapes appear in the sky.
An artificial mirage could in theory be made by heating the
atmosphere with radio waves or microwaves. The USAF then had the
problem of making the image appear to speak. They postulated, "a
pulse stream, an internal acoustic field of 5- 15KHz can be
created which is audible. Thus it may be possible to 'talk' to
adversaries in a way which would be most disturbing to them."
