this brings to mind a quote from Bob Woodward's "Obama's Wars" . . .

CIA director Leon Panetta shrewdly observed to other cabinet members involved in the Afghan review that “no Democratic president can go against military advice, especially if he asked for it.”

Yeah seriously. And if he said it would Woody report it? Nopers, but then he probably didn't need to say it. As to the shakeup: I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic because if Panetta is right, then Obama solved that little problem didn't he? Depending on who Panetta actually thinks is his boss of course. But he always seemed like one of the better bad guys to me and if he manages to survive the long knives that Les Aspen apparently didn't I think he may surprise us in a good way, or at least, it's possible.
