Just one more question - are there any states of mysticism or paranormal insight that don't involve delusion or mind-control, in your opinion?
Absolutely- I'm still fleshing out what that means for me personally, but this is be no means an either/or situation.

I often get confused by your choice of words, AD.
'Absolutely' would indicate that you know, with certainty, that some areas of mysticism or insight are not delusion or mind-control.
Then you caveat with - you're still 'fleshing it out'.
To demonstrate some kind of balance here - rather than just post everything that isn't kosher - what are the ones you believe may not be mind-control or delusion?

Do yoga and meditation really represent the fields of "mysticism and paranormal insight"? They are physical activities whose benefits can be rationally explained and are to some degree supported with science. Rather than mystical, they are merely unconventional from a western perspective.
As I understand, mysticism and paranormal insight represent a departure from intellectual reason and the scientific method as a means of acquiring knowledge about the nature of reality.
This touches upon what is most definitely a rift between people in society, and the "intelligentsia" in particular. Is there a means to acquire accurate knowledge about the nature of reality that is not derived from reason and the scientific method?

Your mileage may vary.
