So...Was Rove Expecting A DIFFERENT Outcome?

I agree that there seemed to be more to Rove's little performance Tuesday night on Fox than mere denial and sour grapes. And while I haven't heard anyone outside of RI say it out loud, I now wonder
if Rove was given a "guarantee" by some that certain swing state's precincts(particularly in Ohio) could be flipped if need be to give Romney that "Squeaker".

What role was Karl Rove playing when he heatedly contradicted Fox News?

Was he acting as the man who oversaw the most expensive advertising assault on a sitting president in history, unable to face his own wounded pride? The fund-raiser who had persuaded wealthy conservatives to give hundreds of millions of dollars and now had a lot of explaining to do? Or the former political strategist for George W. Bush, who saw firsthand how a botched network call could alter the course of a presidential contest?

Mr. Rove insists that the ghosts of 2000 prompted him to act.

“I had a concern about premature calls, and in this instance, the concern was shared by my Fox colleague Joe Trippi,” Mr. Rove said Wednesday, referring to the Democratic strategist and Fox contributor who ran Howard Dean’s presidential campaign in 2004.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/08/us/po ... .html?_r=0

Beyond ironic Rove would mention that.

We hear "of its two candidates of the same system and illusion", "they both work for the same camps". I don't think so. These people didn't look like they were laying down, ala the pathetic Bob Dole campaign.
These guys seemed to truly be all set to "win" this thing.
If I was Rove, I'd be pretty worried about pissing off quite a lot of billionares he convinced to give him hundreds of millions
http://www.businessweek.com/printer/art ... fundraiser

He also detailed plans for Senate and House races, and joked, “We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!”

Haha, all fun and games right Rove?

In 2004, in Ohio a Top GOP strategist who worked on the internet was set to testify in Election tampering in Ohio, but mysteriously died in a plane crash.

Mike Connell who was the IT Chief consultant who worked for Karl Rove asked for protective custody from the US government because he feared for his life.

The facts are that Connell was experienced in flying, but crashed his plane in Akron Ohio a day before he was to testify on the vote count and detail how Karl Rove’s email files were on the same server and went missing.

Read more: http://www.politicolnews.com/the-karl-r ... z2C41Y5cSH

He told his family and friends he was being threatened by Rove.

http://www.politicolnews.com/the-karl-r ... -cover-up/

So while you have idiots like Chuck Todd saying talk of vote fraud is "birther garbage", I think more and more people know what's up.
And somehow, like 2004, it all comes back to Ohio.

Just WHAT did Rove know?

And were the powers that be for the GOP in the end scared to "pull the lever", knowing it'd be way too obvious and there'd be riots in the street and a renewed awake public?
"Karl Rove. American Crossroads. We are Anonymous. We are watching you. We know that you will attempt to rig the election of Mitt Romney to your favor. We will watch as your merry band of conspirators try to achieve this overthrow of the United States government.

"We see that you have taken steps to ensure that this election race is a close race, so you can step in and rig the numbers to elect your candidate, and then claim because it was a tight race, that your candidate was able to narrowly squeak ahead and win.

"We want you to know that we are watching you, waiting for you to make the mistake of thinking you can rig this election to your favor. We want you to know that if we catch you, we will turn over all of this data to the appropriate officials in the hopes that you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are watching and monitoring all of your servers. We are watching traffic on each of them for anything suspicious. You will not get away with any fraud without consequences.

The stunned reactions of the candidates and their wives on election night seem to tell the story of a group of people who honestly couldn't believe they would lose.

Romney was stoic as he talked to the president, an aide said, but his wife Ann cried. Running mate Paul Ryan seemed genuinely shocked, the adviser said. Ryan's wife Janna also was shaken and cried softly.

Both wives crying, Paul Ryan doing the deer in the headlights dance - I think they expected the Democratic turnout to be much lower than it turned out to be, and their privileged expectations set the tone to the last minute.

Rove's hedging and panic on Fox was, as I read it, entirely similar to a man who has bet more than he can afford to lose and can't bring himself to come to terms with the sad reality of the play of the cards. Of course he was expecting a different outcome. Hundreds of millions of dollars different.

Big GOP donors see small return on investment

Among the biggest losers on Tuesday was conservative strategist Karl Rove, and not just because his side lost. The Fox News analyst, who questioned his network's decision to call the election for President Obama on air after earlier incorrectly predicting a Romney victory, also has to reckon with the reality that his big-spending super PAC, American Crossroads, got almost no return on the more than $100 million it spent to influence the election.

A study by the Sunlight Foundation found that just 1.29 percent of the nearly $104 million it spent in the general election ended with the desired result. In addition to spending $85 million to defeat Mr. Obama and $6.5 million to support Mitt Romney, the group spent millions more opposing Democratic Senate candidates Bill Nelson in Florida, Jon Tester in Montana, Joe Donnelly in Indiana, Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, and Tim Kaine in Virginia - all of whom won. The only candidates it supported who won were Republicans Deb Fisher in Nebraska and Dean Heller in Nevada, who the group spent a combined $1.3 million to support.

The return for American Crossroads' sister group, Crossroads GPS, was not much better. Crossroads GPS, which keeps its donors secret, saw a 14 percent return on the $70 million it spent. Another conservative outside group, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, saw just a 6.9 percent return on its $33 million in spending. The National Rifle Association's return on its nearly $12 million in spending: 0.81 percent.

The poor performance by Rove's groups had Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York mocking the longtime Republican strategist, who was hailed as "Bush's Brain" for helping engineer George W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 victories. "If Crossroads was the business and Karl Rove was the CEO, he'd be fired for getting a poor return for his investors," Schumer told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast Thursday morning, according to Politico. He went on to speculate that Crossroads won't be "as much of a player two years from now" as a result.

Karl Rove Loses Election After Being Checkmated By Cyber Sleuths?

By CL - Posted on 15 November 2012

Last month, we offered a million dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who rigged a federal election on November 6th. We urged computer experts to contact us with information about any election manipulation of the tabulation results. http://www.velvetrevolution.us/newVR/in ... ?q=node/37

We Received A Letter

On November 12th, we received a letter from “The Protectors,” apparently a group of white hat cyber sleuths, mentioning our reward and stating that two months ago, they began monitoring the “digital traffic of one Karl Rove, a disrespecter of the Rule of Law, knowing that he claimed to be Kingmaker while grifting vast wealth from barons who gladly handed him gold to anoint another King while looking the other way.” http://www.velvetrevolution.us/images/A ... Letter.pdf

“The Protectors” said that they had identified the digital structure of Rove’s operation and of ORCA, a Republican get out the vote software application. After finding open “doors” in the systems, they created a “password protected firewall” called “The Great Oz,” and installed it on servers that Rove planned to use on election night to re-route and change election results “from three states.”

The letter indicated that “ORCA Killer” was launched at 10am EST and “The Great Oz” at 8pm EST on November 6th. “The Protectors” watched as ORCA crashed and failed throughout Election Day. They watched as Rove’s computer techs tried 105 times to penetrate “The Great Oz” using different means and passwords.

Finally, they issued the following warning to Mr. Rove: don’t do it again or they would turn over the evidence to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

We are not in a position to vouch for the contents of this letter anymore than we can vouch for the video by Anonymous warning Karl Rove not to rig the election. However, we can analyze that content under the prism of Mr. Rove’s history and facts over the past few weeks. We do so in the hope that this will lead to an investigation of Mr. Rove’s entire operation ala General David Petraeus. In that spirit, we provided this information to the FBI prior to publication, and followed up after publication. For years, we have campaigned for a complete investigation of Mr. Rove. http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/ And we have provided extensive legal memos and evidence to the FBI to support such an investigation. See e.g., http://protectourelections.org/index.php?q=docs We urge others who have information to about election tampering or other criminal violations by Mr. Rove, including violations of campaign finance laws, to provide that evidence to the FBI. We also urge people who gave money to Mr. Rove and his organizations to contact the FBI if they were misled, promised things that did not happen, or were otherwise defrauded.

Rove’s Background And Election Night Meltdown

Karl Rove has a history of rigging elections going back several decades, including in 2004 when he orchestrated a man-in-the-middle attack to change the votes from Ohio. See e.g., http://www.projectcensored.org/top-stor ... ion-thief/

In 2012, Mr. Rove’s SuperPacs raised and spent hundreds of millions on behalf of GOP candidates. He courted billionaires and promised them that his candidates would win.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... fundraiser

Days before the 2012 election, Mr. Rove predicted a strong Romney win. http://foxnewsinsider.com/2012/11/06/ka ... bamas-253/ His spinners lionized him in articles that portrayed him as invincible. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012 ... raig-unger

On election night, Mr. Rove worked the three states that held the key to the election – Ohio, Florida and Virginia. But when he tried to access the Ohio election website, he kept getting error messages.
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/11/ ... ion-night/

Finally, immediately after Ohio was called for President Obama around 11:30 EST, Mr. Rove appeared on FOX News to dispute the call, saying the election there is far from settled and the call was “premature.”

Fox News’s Chris Wallace said the Romney campaign does "not believe Ohio is in the Obama camp,” noting that he got an email from a top Romney aide who said the campaign disagrees with the network’s call. He then asked Rove if he believed Ohio has been settled.

“No, I don’t,” Rove said.

“I think this is premature,” he added. “We’ve got a quarter of the vote. Now remember, here is the thing about Ohio. A third of the vote or more is cast early and is won overwhelmingly by the Democrats. It’s counted first and then you count the election day and the question is, by the time you finish counting the election day does it overcome that early advantage that Democrats have built up in early voting, particularly in Cuyahoga County.”

Rove said the network needs to be “careful about calling things when we have like 991 votes separating the two candidates and a quarter of the vote yet to count. Even if they have made it on the basis of select precincts, I’d be very cautious about intruding in this process. http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/201 ... 48745.html

The Failure Of ORCA On Election Day

The Rove/Romney coalition created Project Orca, which was supposed to enable poll watchers to record voter names on their smart phones, by listening for names as voters checked in. This would give the campaign real-time turnout data, so they could redirect GOTV resources throughout the day where it was most needed. They recruited 37,000 swing state volunteers for this. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... s-Own-Vote

According to various sources, however, ORCA totally failed on Election Day: PIN numbers and passwords did not work, reset tools failed, customer support was ineffective and unavailable, Comcast shut down access for fear of a DDOS attack, and the system crashed and had trouble re-booting. “At one point during Election Day, the system had malfunctioned so badly that desperate volunteers wondered if the program had been hacked.” Id. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/201 ... ger-1.html http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-hab ... 49098.html

Anonymous Warned Rove Prior To The Election

Two weeks prior to the November 6th election, the hactivist group Anonymous posted a video warning Karl Rove not to rig the election. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98frqrKFnQ8

They told Mr. Rove that he was being watched and that if he attempted to rig the election, he would be stopped. That video went viral in just days.

The Letter From “The Protectors”

The letter we received just days after the election ties together all the information set forth above about the digital difficulties faced by Karl Rove and the GOP on November 6th.

· Karl Rove’s digital architecture surrounding the election was identified and compromised by cyber sleuths in a way that denied him the ability to manipulate election results;

· Project Orca was not secure and had numerous flaws that were exploited to ensure failure;

· Karl Rove was focused on three states—Ohio, Virginia and Florida;

· “Orca Killer” was launched early in the day resulting in failures starting in the morning;

· “The Great Oz” was launched at 8pm, just as polls closed on the East Coast;

· The Ohio Secretary of State results were inaccessible to Mr. Rove after 8pm;

· Mr. Rove disputed the call for Ohio, and told FOX News that it was “premature” as he kept trying to access the results;

· Mr. Rove, Mitt Romney, the GOP, its billionaires, and its talking heads were all “convinced” up to the last minute that Mr. Romney would win, some even saying “by a landslide;”

· Prior to the election, Anonymous warned Mr. Rove that it had identified his digital structure and was watching for any manipulations;

· Mr. Romney and the GOP leadership were “shell shocked” when President Obama won the election.

The Upshot Of All This

Apparently, “The Protectors” were able to completely thwart Karl Rove’s attempts to manipulate this election by employing a firewall to stop man-in-the-middle tabulation attacks and improper transfers of tabulation data. Moreover, apparently, they were able to pinpoint and exploit flaws and structural weaknesses in Project Orca that caused a cascading of problems and subsequent catastrophic failure. Apparently, there was some connection between Mr. Rove and Project Orca, and they were probably both plugged into the same voter database.

Lessons Learned And Our Position

At VR, we have spent the past decade exposing flaws in the election process, especially the use of electronic voting, secret software and cyber attacks on tabulation systems. Princeton computer scientists, http://nomorestolenelections.org/news/s ... ked?page=9 Argonne Laboratories experts, http://www.salon.com/2011/09/27/votinghack/ GOP insiders http://www.velvetrevolution.us/images/S ... 091708.pdf and even the CIA http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2009/03/24/6 ... ecure.html have shown that electronic election manipulation is both possible and occurring.

Based on our experience and the supporting evidence, we take the letter from “The Protectors” at face value. Karl Rove had the means, motive, experience and opportunity to do whatever it took to win the election for his clients. If he, in fact, intended to use improper and illegal means to digitally manipulate the election, and white hat cyber sleuths who stopped it discovered that, then that is a good thing. We hope that those cyber sleuths will provide that evidence to the FBI, post it publicly or send it to us to do so.

One thing that is not clear from the letter is the relationship between the cyber manipulation and Project Orca. Were they both part of Karl Rove’s scheme? Were they using the overlapping servers or databases? Did “The Great Oz” automatically cause problems for Project Orca? Did Mr. Rove plan to use the data from “Project Orca” to help the cyber manipulation scheme succeed? We would like to know the answers to these questions so we can more fully understand the legal and moral implications of “Orca Killer.”

As far as lessons learned, we are hopeful that those who have been skeptical and opposed to greater security in elections will now get on board in a bipartisan manner to, as President Obama said, “fix” the broken election system. We are hopeful that billionaires, SuperPacs and politicians will see, as governments in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere have seen, that a few dedicated cyber sleuths can protect democracy from corrupt power brokers by thwarting electoral crimes. We are hopeful that everyone will see Karl Rove for what he is – a scammer who can’t win without cheating and manipulating election results.

LULz indeed, or something akin to fan fiction. A great story, if you will. This is Wayne Madsen level conspiracy stuff. Very entertaining nonetheless.

You can rest assured of that much -- better yet, we got some of the footage on Youtube!

Not enough for my own consolation but still a silver lining.

Probably because you're completely reversing the scale of difficulty there. No offense to our eloquent resident Greek, but back in his motherland they're just getting done with the 1980's over there. Karl Rove is an actively paranoid deep state operator with decades of experience doing nothing but covering up dirty tricks. The Greek Finance Ministry is a bunch of old people drawing pensions and blinking in bewilderment at everything that's happened for the past 10 years.

After 2004, you think Rove didn't quadruple down on security? He had to fucking kill someone over that last leak, you can bet he's at least as familiar with IT security, real deal IT security, as anyone in Anonymous. I don't think I'm overstating the case -- I can understand anyone hating on Turd Blossom, but don't pretend he's not brilliant at what he does.

....OR RATHER, WHAT HE DID. EL YOU EL ZEE.

Whoever said he was the Ernst Rohm of the neoconservatives, I could kiss you. Such a great insight / metaphor.

Rove only thinks he's deep state. "They" would easily throw his butt over the boat, if only they didn't need him to appease a little slice of the Bush faithful demo.

Why Rove Failed to Deliver Ohio on Election Day: What Happened in Ohio This Time Around
Friday, 16 November 2012 11:11
By Bob Fitrakis, The Free Press | News Analysis

Was the "fix" in on Election Day in Ohio? The questions surrounding Election Day activities in Ohio and Karl Rove's now-infamous meltdown on Fox TV election night are causing a buzz in the election integrity movement.
Of course we do not know for sure what happened in Ohio – but we do know the circumstances were eerily similar to election tampering techniques the Free Press discovered after the 2004 election.
One major similarity was Rove's insistence to his colleagues on Fox News that the media consortium's exit polls were wrong in Ohio. This is the same claim he made in 2004 concerning Ohio and 2000 in Florida.
Curiously, the Ohio Secretary of State's vote tabulation website went down at 11:13pm, as reported by Free Press election protection website monitors, and mentioned by Rove on the news. This was one minute earlier than the time on election night 2004 -- when Ohio votes were outsourced to Chattanooga, Tennessee -- and then the vote flipped for Bush. This isn't just a Free Press claim, but is well-documented by Vanity Fair Contributing Editor Craig Unger in his book Boss Rove.
This time, the Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) vote tabulation site went down as on election night as well.
In his rant on Fox, Rove argued that Fox News should not confirm Ohio for Obama until votes came in from the southwest Ohio GOP strongholds of Delaware, Butler and Warren counties and suburban Cincinnati. It was after the crash of the secretary of state's site in 2004 that improbable vote totals came in from Republican counties in southwest Ohio – particularly Butler, Clermont, and Warren counties. These three counties provided more than Bush's entire Ohio victory margin of 119,000.
Earlier in the day, I filed suit in both federal and state courts seeking to remove uncertified and untested "experimental" software patches from county vote tabulators in at least 25 Ohio counties. Election Systems & Software (ES&S) installed the last minute software on county tabulators linked to the secretary of state's office. Coincidentally, Warren and Cuyahoga counties were two of the counties targeted with the software patch.
When the Free Press investigated Bush's implausible 2004 victory in Ohio, we discovered ES&S and Triad technicians had placed similar last-minute unauthorized patches on tabulators in an estimated 44 Ohio counties.
All the counties that Rove mentioned on Fox News had irregularities and funny numbers in 2004.
This time, the Fox exit poll number crunchers simply refused to listen to Rove, and well they should not have. While Rove was claiming that the outstanding vote in Hamilton County (Cincinnati), which went to Obama in 2008, should break 60%-40% for Romney –- the exit polls showed 55% for Obama. Obama actually gained 5% of the vote in Hamilton County after Rove made his absurd prediction. The outstanding vote was not in the white suburban areas which had voted early and without long lines, but rather in the African American urban districts where lines were long.
As Rove raved on the air about the races being separated by only "911 votes" or "991" votes, Fox News put the stats up on a split screen next to him showing Obama up by 30,000 votes. Much like the famed anti-Communist demagogue of the Cold War era, Joe McCarthy, who couldn't keep his numbers straight regarding how many secret Communists had infiltrated the State Department, Rove's numbers seemed equally absurd.
As Rove babbled with improbable and impossible vote total numbers predicting a Romney comeback, Fox News split the screen and showed "Race Called" for Obama. The Fox News anchor repeatedly told Rove his numbers were not what the exit polls reflected. You expected her next line to be "At long last, Mr. Rove, have you no decency, sir?
So why didn't Rove's guy Romney win Ohio as Bush did in '04? All the voter suppression tactics and usual dirty tricks seemed to be in place. Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted was the new Blackwell and Romney the new Bush, but Rove proved to be the same old Rove –- operating from his 2004 election theft playbook.
This time, after Columbus Free Press articles appeared about voting machines tied to Romney and scurrilous software patches installed on Ohio tabulators, 60,000 people emailed the U.S. Department of Justice with a change.org petition requesting an investigation of Ohio. Justice Department personnel as well as FBI agents were on the ground on Election Day in Ohio looking not only for voter suppression but also for electronic election tampering.
Election protection activists blanketed the state with a visible Video the Vote project that was based out of Columbus and also included Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Although the judges in the software patch cases denied the temporary restraining orders, the cases are still open. However, the story of the Free Press lawsuit was announced the day before Election Day, was picked up by the Associated Press, and appeared in more than 500 newspapers. Just prior to Election Day, the best reporting in Ohio was ironically coming from Channel 19 -- Fox News in Cincinnati. Also, at 12:23am on Election Day morning, Forbes.com posted one of the greatest anti-vote tampering deterrent articles in U.S. history. Essentially, they outlined the shaky electronic voting technology and how it might be used to tamper with votes in the United States' foremost swing state. On the page, linked above, Forbes links to the Channel 19 Fox News report.
Under the glare of intense light activated from law enforcement, media and election protection activists, no one seemed willing to tamper this time with Ohio's vote totals – despite the unrelenting magical numerology of Rove. This time, reality and fact-based numbers prevailed.
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

This probably has a lot to do with the Orca snafu:

Which consultants built Romney's "Project Orca?" None of them
Romney staff, volunteers coded key app on the cheap.

No offense to our eloquent resident Greek, but back in his motherland they're just getting done with the 1980's over there. The Greek Finance Ministry is a bunch of old people drawing pensions and blinking in bewilderment at everything that's happened for the past 10 years.

Why in the world do you think this would offend me? You just keep callin' me elegant, erm, elephant, I'll be happy. It's sort of my motherland, if not my birthplace, and I've had enough dealings with the bureaucracy there to confirm your reasonably accurate assessment.
