The Richard Engel Kidnapping Fake - MoA Scooped MSM By 28 Month

The veil is lifting a bit over the slew of the "bad Assad" propaganda stories that built the case for the war on Syria. The New York Times reports today: NBC News Alters Account of Correspondent’s Kidnapping in Syria

NBC News on Wednesday revised its account of the 2012 kidnapping of its chief foreign correspondent, Richard Engel, saying it was likely that Mr. Engel and his reporting team had been abducted by a Sunni militant group, not forces affiliated with the government of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria.

Moon of Alabama questioned the original Richard Engel story at that time and found that the whole "kidnapping" and "rescue" was likely a completely staged event:

Professor As'ad AbuKhalil, the Angry Arab, has reason to not believe that story and has indications that these were not Assad loyalists but FSA insurgents playing the role of Assad loyalists for a fake media stunt.

There is now new evidence that this was indeed a fake event and that, whatever Richard Engel may believe, he and the people with him (which included one ever unnamed "British engineer" who is more likely some special operations guy) were not in the hands of Shabiha but in the hand of well known experienced video fakers.

We had earlier looked at the fake citizen journalist Khaled Abu Salah who created and distributed fake videos about "Assad atrocities" sponsored by the shady para-government organization Avaaz. He was, as we documented, involved in the Richard Engels stunt. This led us to ask:

How come that this known serial producer of fake videos is involved in a murky kidnapping case that looks like a propaganda set up for "western" media consumption?

Further:

> Who smuggled Richard Engel into Syria? Was it Avaaz?
> Did "Danny" and Khaled Abu Salah knew that he was coming?
> Did they prepare the kidnapping and the liberation of Richard Engel?

Some of the answers may be found if Richard Engel explains how he came to meet Khaled Abu Salah for this interview. Engel should urgently answer that question.

Engel still does not come clean on this issue. His new account of the fake kidnapping only comes, as HuffPo writes,

.. after new information surfaced suggesting he may have been misled about the identities of his captors, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The New York Times had recently started a new investigation about the case and only that has led Engel to "revisit" the issue that is to cover his old lies with new ones.

Two years ago it was clear to the Angry Arab and to me that the Engel account was very wrong from start to end. How is that now, more than two years later, "new information"?

The alleged "Shabiah" show of the "kidnapped" Engel was clearly fake and the "rescue" by the fake journalist pointed to a bigger plot.

Engel's lies continue. He now admits that the dead "he had seen" were not seen by him at all.

In his Vanity Fair article, Mr. Engel described one of his captors lying dead. In his statement Wednesday, he acknowledged that he did not see bodies during the rescue.

Engel still speaks of dead kidnappers and a firefight during which he was "rescued". But the NYT found a witness that lets one seriously doubt this:

Thaer al-Sheib, another local man connected with the rebel movement who sought the NBC team, said that on the day of the release “we heard some random shots for less than a minute coming from the direction of the farm.” He said that Abu Ayman, the rebel commander credited with freeing the team, is related by marriage to Mr. Ajouj, and that he staged the rescue.

So Engel still does not say how he was really "rescued" and how he immediately thereafter came to sit down with the video and news faker Khaled Abu Saleh.

Neither has NBC's Richard Engel come clean on this nor have the NYT or HuffPo really dug out the back story.

That back story would reveal that "western" secret services, with the help of para-government organizations and some paid Syrian "revolutionaries", created false stories and videos about the "bad Assad regime". That back story would show that "western" journalists from outlets like NBC, the NYT and HuffPo willing took part in and propagandized those scams even when those were obvious lies.

An Egyptian newspaper once publicly identified me as the C.I.A. station chief in Cairo. It seemed so stupid at the time. I was only 24, a little young to be a station chief, and, of course, I was never with the C.I.A.

Of course! The very idea is absurd! That quote is from the article where he lied about seeing a dead kidnapper and perhaps lied about everything else as well.

I am compelled to add that, as a longtime student of these dark arts and their history, putting a 24 year old with zero practical experience or context in charge of something like that is exactly the kind of shit Langley is known for.

Loyalty is their currency, not competence.

Engel's father is G$, Riverside prep to Stanford to CNN. Such specimens are never subtle about their grooming, and indeed, the notion that rival intelligence agencies would even need to stoop to guessing in terms of who's who is absurd. That spy vs. spy shit is entertainment for rubes & marks.

OpSec is about protecting information from the domestic population, not the kayfabe enemy.

The whole Engle story never quite added up...

On the captors of Richard Engel: the plot thickens

So who kidnapped Mr. Richard Engel? A knowledgeable Western journalist sent me this:

"there is a Shiite village in Idlib called Fu'a, and every time a journalist gets kidnapped in Idlib at first the opposition activists blame Shiites or even Alawites (!) as happened three weeks ago with a different group. ِِِAnyway Fu'a is surrounded by armed opposition supporters, so its unlikely its men could just drive around as is described in the official account, and they would probably not say they were shiites let along brag about their alleged training (and there is no way they got revolutionary guard training) then this video came out:

and it has since been removed, what it showed is Engel and his team in a bare room saying who they are, on the walls in green spray paint are written fresh looking pro Assad graffiti like al Assad or we will burn the country, and something about dhulfiqar which is obviously Shiite it seems very much like a setup, like the kidnappers wanted him to think he was taken by Shiites and if he was taken by Shiites or regime loyalists he would not have been released so quickly so its a bullshit story
maybe A....

i think they took down the video because Engel is made to say something anti-American

PS here is the video"

PPS Now this is me, Angry Arab. I looked at the video and it is so clearly a set up and the slogans are so clearly fake and they intend to show that they were clearly Shi`ites and that they are savages. If this one is believable, I am posing as a dentist.

PPPS Of course, I am not saying that Engel was in on this plot. I think that they were really kidnapped but that the kidnappers of the Free Syrian Army typically lied to them about their identity, which has happened before.

Media Manipulation, War Propaganda: NBC’s Fake Syrian Kidnapping Story

“Syria is one of the biggest propaganda schemes of our time. When the dust settles, if it does, it will be revealed”
- Professor AbuKhalil

“Journalists are never real journalists if they are agents of power no matter how they disguise that role.”
- John Pilger

As bad as those ‘war theater’ lies by Brian Williams and Bill O’Reilly are, this howler by NBC and their ‘trusted’ reporter Richard Engel – is much worse by far.

Keen to help Washington in its all-out campaign for regime change in Syria, we can now see very clearly – to what lengths major US media outlets are were willing to go, by using a completely contrived situation to publicly demonize the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

Let’s be clear. We’re not just talking about mere spin here. Broadcast executives knowingly facilitated the concocting of a false narrative which just happened to fit perfectly into Washington’s own neatly arranged foreign policy objectives at that very moment…

Back in December 2012, Engel claimed he was kidnapped along with four other journalists while traveling inside Syria by “pro-Assad Shi’ite forces”. Engel went on to claim how his “pro-Assad” captors brutally tortured reporters and even killed their ‘Free Syrian Army’ rebel chaperone, before eventually being “rescued” by other rebels. Engel did endless rounds in the US media retelling his sensational tale, skillfully crafting a narrative of suffering at the hands of the evil and merciless “Syrian government”, and “Iranian-aligned Shi’ite forces”...

SPOOKS NOTE: For those versed in the art of grifting and professional con artistry, this type of Kansas City Shuffle scam would require that at least one member of the kidnap victims’ party be in on the con, so as to ensure that the rest of group stayed in line and didn’t do anything stupid during the staged operation.

Without a doubt, this is a prime example of the CIA’s Operation Mockingbird in action – from beginning to end – a purely fake story, created and designed to cajole both public and also mainstream media opinion over towards the US State Department’s stated goal of regime change in Syria...

MOCKING BIRD IN ACTION: Anderson Cooper and British operative ‘Syrian Danny’

For any readers who may doubt the existence of Operation Mockingbird, or that top US media outlets are working in full coordination with entities like the US State Department and the CIA – this story should put those doubts to rest.

Verdict: NBC, along with the other media majors, have been caught promoting another war overseas. They did it in Iraq, they’ve done it with Syria, and they’re also doing it with the Ukraine.

Most of what we see and hear from our ‘trusted’ media is fake…

Look it up in the morning. I brought it up before, but look for clips of last night's Daily Show and Jon Stewart destroying Judith Miller.

Oh. Here appears to be a fairly good link:

As bad as Judith Miller is she's just a symptom of the larger problem. The game is rigged. It's about spinning narratives .. not reporting news. Of course the Daily Show, On the Media, Reliable Sources ..
The rest of the US mainstream media mockingbirds will not touch this story in the same way they did with egomaniacs Brian Williams and Bill O’Reilly. In classic ‘WWF’ fashion, CNN’s ‘hard-hitting ‘senior’ political correspondent and host of “Reliable Sources” (yes, that’s the actual title of the show), Brian Stelter, spent weeks lamenting over NBC’s Williams and chasing FOX’s O’Reilly, which achieved nothing in the end other than making Stetler appear “tough” on FOX. Will the ‘hard-hitting’ Stetler dare touch the Engel story with even a portion of the theatrical zeal he unleashed on O’Reilly?

Probably will not. Firstly, because if he did, it would open up CNN to criticism for doing the exact same scam (perpetrated by the network against its audience) when it proudly paraded its prized ‘Syrian Opposition’ figure, named Danny Dayem, aka ‘Syrian Danny’ (strangely, he speaks with a noticeable London accent), who has since disappeared from public view. Danny was CNN’s go-to guy, a self-described “opposition activist”making regular appearances via satellite and even in-studio, with Anderson Cooper and others – lobbying for the US and NATO to ‘join in’ by arming, or intervening to help him and his merry band of upstart“moderate rebels” aka the ‘Free Syria Army’. It was all going swimmingly well, until video was leaked which showed Danny operating out of make-shift sound studio somewhere in Syria (or Turkey?) complete with fake gun and mortar fire audio sound effects, coordinating with CNN producers on the other line – in essence creating fake ‘on the ground’ news reports from behind the lines. CNN should have lost its broadcast license for this, just as NBC should too, but it pretty evident that regulations do not apply to major media outlets...

For any readers who may doubt the existence of Operation Mockingbird, or that top US media outlets are working in full coordination with entities like the US State Department and the CIA – this story should put those doubts to rest...

will never go there or it's game over.

Tying into a couple of other threads (Harley Guy & NPR Lincoln) there was an interesting interview on NPR following the Copenhagen shooting a few months ago .. The 'witness' being interviewed came off well rehearsed like Harley Guy. He somehow had gleaned that the shooter had become 'radicalized' by the Charlie Hebdo case .. npr had it's narrative in a tidy little witness interview.
