^^^ haha! My best friend in my teens was from Norway, his family came over when he was nine. I always liked hearing about life in Norway, and I probably got my idyllic picture of it from him. His parents and sibling were all very nice (his mother spoke almost no English). Today he's an American environmental scientist.

There's always this fine Norwegian (on one of either of the sides that have "good people") who knows who counts on Earth:

Anders Behring Breivik

Image

Fjotolf Hansen,[6] born Anders Behring Breivik (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈɑnːəʂ ˈbeːriŋ ˈbræiviːk] (About this sound listen);[7] in 13 February 1979, is a Norwegian far-right terrorist[8] who committed the 2011 Norway attacks. On 22 July 2011 he killed eight people by detonating a van bomb amid Regjeringskvartalet in Oslo, then shot dead 69 participants of a Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp on the island of Utøya.[9][10] In August 2012 he was convicted of mass murder, causing a fatal explosion, and terrorism.[11][12]

On the day of the attacks, Breivik electronically distributed a compendium of texts entitled 2083: A European Declaration of Independence, describing his militant ideology.[13][14][15][16] In them, he lays out a worldview encompassing opposition to Islam and blaming feminism for creating a European "cultural suicide".[17][18] The texts call Islam and "Cultural Marxism" the enemy and advocate the deportation of all Muslims from Europe based on the model of the Beneš decrees, while also claiming that feminism exists to destroy European culture.[19][20] Breivik wrote that his main motive for the atrocities was to market his manifesto.[21]

Two teams of court-appointed forensic psychiatrists examined Breivik before his trial. The first report diagnosed Breivik as having paranoid schizophrenia.[22] A second psychiatric evaluation was commissioned following widespread criticism of the first.[23] The second evaluation was published a week before the trial; it concluded that Breivik was not psychotic during the attacks nor during the evaluation.[24] He was instead diagnosed as having narcissistic personality disorder.[25] His trial began on 16 April 2012, with closing arguments made on 22 June 2012.[26] On 24 August 2012, Oslo District Court delivered its verdict, finding Breivik sane and guilty of murdering 77 people. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison, in a form of preventive detention that required a minimum of 10 years incarceration and the possibility of one or more extensions for as long as he is deemed a danger to society. This is the maximum penalty in Norway.[27] Breivik announced that he did not recognize the legitimacy of the court and therefore did not accept its decision—he claims he "cannot" appeal because this would legitimize the authority of the Oslo District Court.[28][29]

While imprisoned, Breivik has identified himself as a fascist[30] and a national socialist,[31] saying he previously exploited counterjihadist rhetoric in order to protect ethno-nationalists.[32] In 2015, he said that he has never personally identified as a Christian, and called his religion Odinism.[31][33] In 2016, in a four-day civil trial Breivik sued Norwegian Correctional Service, over his solitary confinement and the general conditions of imprisonment. Breivik claimed that his solitary confinement violated his human rights and asserted that he had been subjected to degrading treatment. The verdict, in which the government was found to have breached Article 3 of the Human Rights Convention, was appealed;[34][35] a trial in Court of Appeal started on 10 January 2017.[36][37] On 1 March 2017, the Court of Appeals ruled that solitary confinement did not violate Breivik's rights.[38] In June 2017, Norway's Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeals.

I was going to bold some of that shit. But Jesus, it's wikipedia. You know what I would have bolded.

Dump is mere fertilizer for the seed of utter chaos which has been sown.

*This all could have been orchestrated for this "news cycle" by the way. Everything that has happened up to now since like the "Fire and Fury" book came out. All of it. ALL OF IT.*

While true, as far as we know. So what? Even if something of positive response happens, it will be for a reason that isn't the one you think it is at the time you react. The ghost of Bernays lurks.

There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

‘Sh*thole’ Comments Spark Global Furor

President Donald Trump’s comments about “shithole countries” have set off a global furor and put American and foreign diplomats in the hot seat.

State Department officials were reportedly scrambling Friday to give diplomats guidance on how to affirm the United States’ commitment to their host countries, CNN reported.

The Botswana government summoned its U.S. ambassador “to clarify whether Botswana is regarded as a “shithole” country,” The Washington Post reported.

And Haitian ambassador Paul Altidor told MSNBC that Haiti believes Trump was “either misinformed or miseducated about Haiti and its people.”

Both Altidor and the government of Botswana released statements condemning the comments and asking U.S. officials for a formal explanation of the remarks.

Nicholas Burns, a widely respected former top diplomat, tweeted:

Trump reportedly made the comments during a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers discussing immigration reform.

In addition, U.S. Ambassador to Panama John Feeley announced his resignation on Thursday, hours before The New York Times and The Washington Post reported on Trump’s “shithole” remarks, according to reports from a local Panama newspaper. The career diplomat told the State Department that he no longer feels that he is able to serve under Trump, Reuters reported.

“As a junior foreign service officer, I signed an oath to serve faithfully the president and his administration in an apolitical fashion, even when I might not agree with certain policies,” Feeley, a former aide to Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, said in a resignation letter shared with Reuters. “My instructors made clear that if I believed I could not do that, I would be honor bound to resign. That time has come.”

Feeley will continue to serve in his Panama post until March 9, Reuters reported.

Other foreign officials like Hugo Martinez of El Salvador and representatives of the African National Congress are seeking an official response from U.S. authorities regarding Trump’s comments.

Is Mr. Trump Nuts?
By THE EDITORIAL BOARDJAN. 10, 2018

Credit Jordan Awan
Is Donald Trump mentally fit to be president of the United States? It’s an understandable question, and it’s also beside the point.

Understandable because Mr. Trump’s behavior in office — impulsive, erratic, dishonest, childish, crude — is so alarming, and so far from what Americans expect in their chief executive, that it cries out for a deeper explanation.

It’s beside the point not because a president’s mental capacity doesn’t matter, nor because we should blindly accept our leaders’ declarations of their own stability, let alone genius. Rather, we don’t need a medical degree or a psychiatric diagnosis to tell us what is wrong with Mr. Trump. It’s obvious to anyone who listens to him speak, reads his tweets and sees the effects of his behavior — on the presidency, on the nation and its most important institutions, and on the integrity of the global order.

Presidents should not, for instance, taunt the leaders of hostile nations with demeaning nicknames and boasts about the size of their “nuclear button.” They should not tweet out videos depicting them violently assaulting their political opponents. They should not fire the F.B.I. director to derail an investigation into their own campaign’s possible collusion with a foreign government to swing the election. And, of course, they shouldn’t have to find themselves talking to reporters to insist that they’re mentally stable.

This behavior may be evidence of some underlying disorder, or it may not. Who knows? Mr. Trump hasn’t undergone a mental-health evaluation, at least not one made public. But even if his behavior were diagnosed as an illness, what would that tell us that we don’t already know? Plenty of people with mental disorders or disabilities function at high levels of society. Conversely, if Mr. Trump were found to have no diagnosable illness, he would be no more fit for the office he holds than he is today.

Thoughts on Shithole and Racist Xenophobia At the Heart of Trumpism

Josh Marshall
on January 9, 2018 in Washington, DC.

Let me take a moment to speak up for the word “shithole” which is seeing its reputation damaged by association with Donald Trump. We went to this dive bar. It was a total shithole. That town? Total shithole, never want to go there again. It’s a dump. Closer to President Trump’s ugly usage, Trump wouldn’t be the only American to call a poor or underdeveloped country a shithole. That’s not okay. But my point here is that there’s nothing inherently wrong with the word – nothing more than any other not for polite conversation swear word. And even this ugly usage doesn’t capture the essence of Trump’s meaning. The context and import of President Trump’s remarks are not simply that the countries are “shitholes.” It’s much more than that. It’s that we don’t want people from those countries because the awfulness of the countries attaches to the people themselves. Speaking of whole classes of people, specifically people of color, as basically garbage – is not only disgusting but entirely of a piece with the campaign President Trump ran in 2016 and the policies he is implementing as President today.

There are many examples in history of politicians who have moved the country forward in policy terms toward greater rights, inclusion, and equality but who nonetheless harbored various racist beliefs, used racist language or were simply racists. You can say that makes them hypocrites. A more generous and in many cases more accurate take is that we can’t always control or amend our ingrained impulses and prejudices. We all have prejudices which compromise us. Every single one of us. But the instinctive and ingrained is not the entirety of who we are. We also have the ability to see beyond our own limitations, shortcomings, and acculturation to see what is fair, what is right and what the future can and should be.

With President Trump, using the most denigrating language to say we don’t want immigrants from African or African diaspora countries but want white people instead is clearly and ably captured in his policies. Scare immigrants off, work the internals of the immigration system to expel a few hundred thousand Haitians here, a few hundred thousand Salvadorans there. Listen to President Trump, his key advisors and key congressional supporters and the issue is often dressed up as a matter of ‘culture’. Too many immigrants from different cultures will overwhelm and wipe out the America we know. Here President Trump, along with Steve King and the rest of the more or less open racists on Capitol Hill is just making the point explicit. They want to keep the US a majority white and culturally homogenous country. That is Stephen Miller’s core policy agenda. He remains one of Trump’s closest advisors. It is simply keep America as white as possible.

This is also what’s behind a ‘merit-based’ immigration policy and an end to ‘chain-migration’. On its face, the idea of a merit-based policy doesn’t sound so crazy. We certainly want the best scientists and engineers and doctors and entrepreneurs to come to America. But we already do that. A big part of the immigration system is geared around doing just that. Maybe we should do more of that – though there are obvious downsides to importing say computer programmers when we have a lot of native-born Americans who want jobs as programmers too. But the key point is that if your whole immigration system is based on “merit” you’re going to exclude a ton of people from countries where the kinds of advanced degrees, training and wealth that constitute “merit” in this sense just aren’t available. Overwhelmingly those will be countries that are poor and don’t have white people.

Trumpism is ethnic-nationalism, rightist ethnic nationalism, specifically white ethnic nationalism. That’s been crystal clear from day one with the talk about Mexico sending its rapists and murderers to America, with the hyper-politicization of crimes committed by immigrants and especially undocumented immigrants. There are more than 10 million undocumented immigrants in the country. Obviously, a percentage of them will commit crimes, even heinous crimes, though there’s substantial evidence that immigrants commit less crime than the native-born. It isn’t about crime. It’s a form of racialized incitement.

The heart of Trumpism has always been fueled by panic over the decline of white privilege and a rapidly changing demography in which whites are no longer the overwhelming majority of Americans and in a few decades likely won’t be a majority at all. (The uncertainty is not so much numerical as taking into account the fluid definition of whiteness itself.) This need to yell “stop!”, to turn back the tide to an earlier America is the beating heart of Trumpism.

In the shithole remarks we see it very unadorned: why do we want more low-quality non-white people? To Trump, it is an obvious and urgent question. Arguments about cultural assimilation are often prettied-up in right-leaning policy journals as concern that too rapid immigration doesn’t give enough time for assimilation and thus threatens social stability. That may be true at extremely high levels of immigration, though here in New York City we have a massive immigrant population (documented and undocumented) and we seem to do fine as the safest big city in the country. But with shithole you get to the heart of it which isn’t these prettified, intellectualized theories but rather a voice of contempt and dehumanization about people who – let’s just say it – aren’t white.

“They are taking over” is the backdrop of Trumpism. The shithole comments make that crystal clear. It’s not just exclusion but a palpable dehumanizing contempt. The words only matter in as much as they illustrate the ugliness of what is currently happening and that is real and much more important than mere words. Trump administration policy means to and is in the process of, implementing the “shithole” mindset which is to say get rid of as many “outsiders” as we can and keep new ones from coming in.

This morning BuzzFeed published a lengthy expose into Trump’s money laundering operations, which included this passage near the end: “The Haitian government claimed in the 1980s that ousted dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier laundered stolen treasury funds when he bought Trump Tower apartment 54-K for $446,875 in August 1983. Duvalier used a Panama shell company called Lasa Trade and Finance to buy the apartment in cash. Trump signed the deed of sale.” (link). It’s likely that BuzzFeed would have called Trump’s White House before publishing this story to get him to comment on it.

Trump’s history of breaking decorum with remarks on race, ethnicity
by VIVIAN SALAMA and HALLIE JACKSON

A career intelligence analyst who is an expert in hostage policy stood before President Donald Trump in the Oval Office last fall to brief him on the impending release of a family long held in Pakistan under uncertain circumstances.

It was her first time meeting the president, and when she was done briefing, he had a question for her.

"Where are you from?" the president asked, according to two officials with direct knowledge of the exchange.

New York, she replied.

Trump was unsatisfied and asked again, the officials said. Referring to the president's hometown, she offered that she, too, was from Manhattan. But that's not what the president was after.

He wanted to know where "your people" are from, according to the officials, who spoke under condition of anonymity due to the nature of the internal discussions.

After the analyst revealed that her parents are Korean, Trump turned to an adviser in the room and seemed to suggest her ethnicity should determine her career path, asking why the "pretty Korean lady" isn't negotiating with North Korea on his administration's behalf, the officials said.

Lawyer paid $130k to silence adult-film star over sexual encounter with Trump: report
Image

Avery Anapol01/12/18 03:20 PM EST
A lawyer for President Trump reportedly arranged a six-figure payment to a former adult-film star to keep her from discussing a sexual encounter with Trump, according to a new report Friday.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Cohen, an attorney for the Trump Organization at the time and now Trump’s personal lawyer, arranged for Stephanie Clifford, known in the industry as Stormy Daniels, to receive $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement one month before the 2016 election.

Clifford has privately alleged to sources interviewed by the Journal that she and Trump had a consensual sexual encounter in 2006, the year after he and Melania Trump were married. Clifford was 27 years old at the time of the alleged encounter in Lake Tahoe.

A White House official declined to comment to the Wall Street Journal about the payment, but said that the allegations of the interaction between Trump and Clifford were “old, recycled reports, which were published and strongly denied prior to the election.”

Cohen told the Wall Street Journal in a statement that Trump “once again vehemently denies” the encounter, but did not comment on the alleged $130,00 payment.

“This is now the second time that you are raising outlandish allegations against my client,” Cohen said in the statement. “You have attempted to perpetuate this false narrative for over a year; a narrative that has been consistently denied by all parties since at least 2011.”

Cohen sent the paper a statement signed by “Stormy Daniels” denying the sexual encounter with Trump and saying that hush money rumors are “completely false.”

Clifford did not comment directly to the Wall Street Journal, and Clifford’s lawyer declined to comment on the matter.

The payment was allegedly made around the time that the “Access Hollywood” tape surfaced, in which Trump made a comment about grabbing women “by the p----.”

Sexual harassment and assault allegations against Trump from more than a dozen women surfaced during the campaign, and again during the rise of the #MeToo movement. Trump has repeatedly denied the allegations, and the official White House position is that the women are lying.

Did Donald Trump cheat on his wife Melania while she was pregnant with their child?
A source spoke with Nik Richie of TheDirty.com saying that he did.
The following excerpt is taken from TheDirty.com
THE DIRTY ARMY: “Nik, are you ready for war? I commend you on your recent story about Ashton Kutcher cheating on Demi Moore, but we have a bigger douche bag to fry. His name is Donald Trump.

This man ruined my girlfriend’s marriage. Donald Trump is the scum of the earth! Not only did he break up my friend’s marriage, but he also cheated on Melania Trump as she was pregnant with his child. My friend had sex with Donald after one of his golfing events and he lured her to multiple hotels rooms after that. My friend wants to speak with you directly because she is in fear that Donald Trump will ruin her life more than he already has. She is pretty well known and if Donald Trump or his people are reading this, code word: “Dancing With The Stars”. Nik be ready to be a household name and Donald be ready to get a divorce, unless Melania Trump has ZERO pride like Demi Moore.“

Nik Richie then calls out Donald Trump saying:
“In media there are heroes and there are cowards. The cowards become friends with the enemy for personal gain and the heroes save others from the sickos of the world who hide behind their money and power. Mr. Donald Trump, as a man please come forward with honesty. I know you cheated on your wife with Stephanie Gregory Clifford aka Stormy Daniels and now the world knows. I will be detailing the events and locations so choose your words wisely.- nik“

What do you guy’s think? Is Donald Trump a cheater? Do you think he will admit his wrong doings if he is?
Many thanks to Nik Richie for releasing the story.

Porn Star: Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels Invited Me to Their Hotel Room

‘I ended up with Donald in his hotel room. Picture him chasing me around his hotel room in his tighty-whities,’ Stormy Daniels told fellow porn star Alana Evans.

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Cohen, the longtime lawyer for President Donald J. Trump, arranged a $130,000 hush payment to porn star Stormy Daniels one month prior to the 2016 presidential election.

According to the Journal, the payment was made “as part of an agreement that precluded her from publicly discussing an alleged sexual encounter with Mr. Trump.” Daniels (given name: Stephanie Clifford) had reportedly been in talks with both ABC’s Good Morning America and the parent company of the National Enquirer about going public with the allegations, with the latter dangling a $150,000 offer to the ex-adult film actress.

The Daily Beast had also been in protracted talks with Daniels about arranging an interview after three sources—including fellow porn star Alana Evans—told The Daily Beast that Daniels and Trump were involved. She ultimately backed out on Nov. 3, just five days before the 2016 election.

Cohen on Friday did not address the alleged payout to Daniels but provided the following statement to The Daily Beast: “These rumors have circulated time and again since 2011. President Trump once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels.” The attorney also provided a letter dated Jan. 10, 2018, allegedly signed by Daniels, that denied any “sexual and/or romantic affair” with Trump or the receipt of any “hush money” from Trump.

Daniels’ story would have come on the heels of the porn star Jessica Drake coming forward in late October 2016 to accuse Trump of kissing her without consent and offering her $10,000 in exchange for sex in 2006. Then, on Nov. 4, 2016, the Journal unearthed documents revealing that the Trump-friendly rag National Enquirer had shelled out $150,000 to Playboy centerfold Karen McDougal for a tell-all about her alleged 10-month affair with The Donald from 2006 to 2007. They never ran the piece.

“Stormy calls me... with Donald [Trump] and I can hear him, and he’s talking through the phone to me saying, ‘Oh come on Alana, let’s have some fun! Let’s have some fun! Come to the party, we’re waiting for you.’”

— Alana Evans

If Drake and McDougal are to be believed, their encounters with Trump took place in the months after Melania gave birth to the Trumps’ youngest son, Barron, in March 2006.

According to three sources with knowledge of the matter, Trump also engaged in a curious relationship during this period with another porn star: Stormy Daniels.

Daniels met Trump at the same event Drake claims she did: the July 2006 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at the Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada. Trump took part in the A-list golf tourney, competing alongside the likes of NFL QBs Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees. Daniels was on-site working a gifting suite, doling out merch and greeting guests as a representative of her adult company Wicked Pictures, alongside Drake. She had by then established herself as a big name in the XXX biz, even making a brief appearance as herself in the 2005 Judd Apatow hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Trump posed for a photo with Daniels at the event, which she later posted to her MySpace page.

According to fellow porn star Alana Evans—who was not only Daniels’ neighbor and close friend at the time, but also happened to be staying in the area—Daniels confided in her that she and Trump were more than just friends.

“It was the second day of our trip, we were in a hotel with a tattoo parlor, and the hotel had huge windows so you could see people outside. When I saw Stormy, I was like WTF? I opened the door, called out to her, and she joined me while [my colleague] got a tattoo,” recalls Evans. “Stormy said she met Donald Trump and then tells me about the golf tournament and how she’s supposed to hang out with him later that night, and she invited me. Stormy said Donald knew exactly who she was and wanted to meet her.”

Later that evening after returning to her hotel room, Evans said Daniels kept calling, asking her to come join the party. But Evans wasn’t interested and made up reasons not to go.

“Stormy calls me four or five times, by the last two phone calls she’s with Donald [Trump] and I can hear him, and he’s talking through the phone to me saying, ‘Oh come on Alana, let’s have some fun! Let’s have some fun! Come to the party, we’re waiting for you.’ And I was like, ‘OMG it’s Donald Trump!’ Men like him scare me because they have so much power and this was way before his presidential nomination. So I bailed on them and turned my phone off.”

Evans said she talked to Daniels the next day, apologized for bailing, and asked her how the night went. “She tells me, ‘All I’m going to say is: I ended up with Donald in his hotel room. Picture him chasing me around his hotel room in his tighty-whities.’ I was like, ‘Oh I really didn’t need to hear that!’ Then she said he offered her keys to his condos in Florida, and I was like, ‘Wow guess you had a good night,’ and that was the last we ever spoke of it.”

The Daniels-Trump relationship was also confirmed by an additional source that works closely with Daniels, who spoke to The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity, as well as by a third source in the adult industry.

Rumors of Daniels’ strange relationship with Trump first emerged on the gossip website TheDirty.com in October 2011. The site, run by Nik Richie (real name: Hooman Karamian), ran a post titled: “World Exclusive: Donald Trump Cheats on His Wife Melania Trump While She Was Pregnant.” In it, an anonymous tipster wrote to the site claiming that: “Donald Trump is the scum of the earth! Not only did he break up my friend’s marriage, but he also cheated on Melania Trump as she was pregnant with his child. My friend had sex with Donald after one of his golfing events and he lured her to multiple hotels [sic] rooms after that. My friend wants to speak with you directly because she is in fear that Donald Trump will ruin her life more than he already has.”

In a follow-up post, Richie wrote, “I know you cheated on your wife with Stephanie Gregory Clifford aka Stormy Daniels and now the world knows.”

“Stormy said she met Donald Trump and then tells me... she’s supposed to hang out with him later that night, and she invited me. Stormy said Donald knew exactly who she was and wanted to meet her.”

— Alana Evans

TheDirty.com has found itself in the middle of numerous tabloid scandals in the past. In 2009, the site published several nude photos of Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean, which eventually led to then-pageant-owner Trump stripping her of her Miss California title. And in 2013, the site posted several flirty online sexts—including a dick pic—from New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to a woman under the internet handle “Carlos Danger,” prompting immediate ownership of the sexts by Weiner.

Daniels retained an attorney and filed a takedown notice against Richie and TheDirty.com. Though it didn’t accuse Richie of fabricating the claim, it did allege that Richie and the site were guilty of “unauthorized use of [Daniels’] name and celebrity.” Soon thereafter, Richie pulled the story from his site—only to republish it late last year.

According to The Smoking Gun, Daniels was married to Michael Mosny at the time, who told the publication that his then-wife had a close relationship with Trump, who’d allegedly promised her a part on his reality-competition program The Apprentice. Mosny claimed that Trump would phone their Los Angeles home frequently to talk with Daniels, and that he invited her to numerous events—including the January 2007 launch of Trump vodka (where she was photographed), the Miss USA pageant in March of that year at the Kodak Theatre in L.A., and that they’d even met one night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

But Mosny also told TSG that he was “not under the impression” that Daniels had a romantic affair with Trump, adding, “It would be surprising, but not shocking.” Daniels and Mosny, it should be noted, had a very public falling out after she was hit with a 2009 domestic violence charge for striking him several times in a fit of rage—around the same time the porn hall of famer was mulling a Senate run in her home state of Louisiana.

Neither Daniels nor the White House immediately responded to requests to comment for this story.

Why don't you just post a naked photo of her? You've already brought this place down to that level anyway.

Steve Bannon suggests Trump's lawyer 'took care' of 'a hundred' women during the presidential campaign

Eliza Relman

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon alleged that one of President Donald Trump's attorneys "took care" of 100 women during the presidential campaign.
Bannon made this claim in journalist Michael Wolff's recently published tell-all book about the Trump White House.
The comment may take on new significance after The Wall Street Journal reported that another Trump attorney paid a porn star $130,000 to prevent her from discussing an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump.
Steve Bannon, President Donald Trump's former top strategist, alleged in journalist Michael Wolff's tell-all book about the Trump White House that the president's longtime attorney, Marc Kasowitz, "took care" of 100 women during the presidential campaign.

"Look, Kasowitz has known [Trump] for twenty-five years. Kasowitz has gotten him out of all kinds of jams," Bannon reportedly said. "Kasowitz on the campaign — what did we have, a hundred women? Kasowitz took care of all of them."

This apparently off-hand remark may take on new significance after The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that another lawyer for the president, Michael Cohen, sent $130,000 to a porn star just weeks before the 2016 presidential election to keep her silent about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump.

The Journal reported that Cohen, who was the Trump Organization's top attorney for about a decade, arranged for the payment to Stephanie Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, in October 2016 after a negotiation between her lawyer and Cohen on a nondisclosure agreement.

Clifford has said privately that the encounter happened at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, the newspaper reported.

Trump married his third wife, Melania Trump, in 2005.

Cohen said in a statement to The Journal that Trump "once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels." Cohen also did not address any payment.

Bannon made the remark about the 100 women as part of a larger discussion about the president's top advisors, some of whom he disparaged at length in Wolff's controversial book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," which the president has condemned as "full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don't exist."

New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg drew attention to Bannon's comment in a tweet on Friday afternoon, shortly after the publication of the Journal report.

At least 22 women have accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct — including ogling, harassment, groping, and rape — between the 1970s and 2013.

Another adult-film star, Jessica Drake, in October 2016 accused Trump of kissing her without permission at that same 2006 golf tournament that Clifford attended. The White House has called her accusation "totally false and ridiculous."

FIRE AND FURY reveals Steve Bannon claim that Trump's other personal attorney, Marc Kasowitz, paid off "a hundred women" during the presidential campaign.

BBC journalist Paul Wood (writing for The Spectator UK) previously reported that at least one witness at the Ritz Moscow saw an argument over whether several women would be allowed up to Trump's hotel room in November 2013—*just as alleged* in the Steele Dossier.

Donald Trump waxwork placed outside new US embassy after President cancels UK trip in fiery outburst

Madame Tussauds pranksters placed their Donald Trump waxwork outside the new US embassy following the president’s fiery outburst cancelling his visit to Britain.

On Friday, news broke that President Trump had abandoned plans to visit the UK next month for the opening of the new £750 million US embassy in Battersea reportedly because of fears of mass protests when he arrives in London.

But Mr Trump took to Twitter to blame the cancelled visit on his low opinion of the “off location” new embassy, which he falsely claimed was a “bad deal” negotiated by predecessor Obama’s administration.

In a funny stunt appearing to poke fun at the US leader, Madame Tussauds transported its model of Trump four-and-a-half miles from its Marylebone site to the new US Embassy, in Nine Elms, on Friday afternoon.

Staff from the embassy, joined by construction workers, crowded around the model and posed for selfies.

Tweeting on Friday morning, Mr Trump wrote: "Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for “peanuts,” only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars.

His claims were proved to be wrong, as documents showed the decision to sell the previous embassy in Grosvenor Square, central London, was announced by Barack Obama’s predecessor George W Bush.

The Labour MP for Battersea, Marsha De Cordova, who was elected at the last election, echoed Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s comments that Mr Trump had “got the message” from Londoners and claimed the president is "scared" of peaceful demonstrators opposing his views.

Ms De Cordova said: "We welcome the fact that Donald Trump isn't coming to London next month and coming to Battersea to open the embassy."

She added: "Trying to diss Battersea clearly indicates he's never been here and doesn't know anything about my constituency.

"We are 15 minutes away from the heart of Britain's democracy - the Houses of Parliament and Westminster."

Claire Treacy, from Madame Tussauds, said transporting the model Trump was not easy, though only the figure's head and hands were made from heavyweight wax.

She added: "We're all about famous fun at Madame Tussauds London and we've got such a great figure in our Trump.

"Mr Trump is always welcome to come and visit his figure here in the UK."

Rachael Basak, 34 from South East London, said she was glad Trump had called off the trip.

"His values do not reconcile with London values- we're diverse, we recognise and value everybody irrespective of where they are from," she said.

Mark Wright, 29, also from South East London said Trump's tweet was "a load of rubbish".

He said: "Give it another five years. When it's developed, you'll see that it's a prime location rather than an 'off location'.

"I think it's important that we take on the public's opinion that we don't think he should be coming over but we also have to be mindful of the UK/US relationship because that's going to be vital post-Brexit."

The “Shithole Countries”—and the Rest of the World—Respond to President Trump
Image
Robin Wright
President Trump’s credibility as a world leader has been, to borrow his vulgarity, shot to shit. With one word—just the latest in a string of slurs about other nations and peoples—he has demolished his ability to be taken seriously on the global stage. “There is no other word one can use but ‘racist,’ ” the spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner on Human Rights, Rupert Colville, said at a briefing in Geneva. “You cannot dismiss entire countries and continents as ‘shitholes,’ whose entire populations, who are not white, are therefore not welcome.”
On Friday morning, the President offered a tepid denial on Twitter, acknowledging that “tough” language was used in a White House meeting on immigration. Trump has so often glibly smeared other nations, however, that it almost doesn’t matter what “tough” word he used. He has a proven track record of bigotry. He has been quoted as saying that Nigerians will “never go back to their huts” once they visit America, that Africa sends its “worst of the worst” to the U.S., and that Haitian immigrants “all have AIDS.”
As I’ve found (to an embarrassing degree) over the past two years, many senior officials in foreign capitals and in embassies across Washington believe that he is simply articulating his intolerant and prejudiced world view. The White House signalled as much in its damage-control statement, on Thursday, explaining that the President wants to “make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation.”
Trump is now preparing to attend the World Economic Forum, a gathering of global leaders in politics and business, held annually in Davos, Switzerland. Many American allies have long been wary of the President’s “America First” framework. After his remarks this week, the danger is that his counterparts will also view his agenda as “White First”—not a viable strategy in a world that places growing value on racial diversity.
Trump’s world view is tragic for so many reasons. First, he’s just wrong on the basics. As the Republican pollster Frank Luntz tweeted, “43% of immigrants from ‘shithole’ African countries have a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 33% of the overall American population. Nigerian-Americans, for instance, have a median household income well above the American average.” Our own capital is rich with industrious Ethiopians (so many that there are direct flights from Washington to Addis Ababa). After English, the words I use the most in Washington (from a limited vocabulary) are Amharic.
Trump’s bigoted world view also ignores history, indicating once again that the President knows little about America’s own past. As Ebba Kalondo, the African Union spokeswoman, noted on Friday, “Considering the historical reality of how many Africans arrived in the U.S. during the Atlantic slave trade, this flies in the face of all accepted behavior and practice.” Criticism came not only from Africa. David Miliband, the former British Foreign Secretary and the current president of the International Rescue Committee, tweeted in astonishment, “Trump Administration leading a race to the bottom on refugees and immigrants that is a betrayal of America’s future as well as of its history. These are PEOPLE.”
Africa is home to 1.2 billion people and more than fifty countries. A whole continent can’t simply be stereotyped or dismissed. A cursory glance of Africa’s achievements includes Nobel Prizes in medicine, chemistry, physics, literature, and peace. (That’s one award Donald Trump will surely never win.) Africa is home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies. Nigeria has built a vibrant film industry. South Africa’s peaceful transition from apartheid is a model for nations worldwide. Egypt includes a quarter of the Arab world’s population. Rwanda, once ravaged by genocide, is today a model for gender equality in politics: the East African nation has the world’s highest percentage of female lawmakers—more than sixty per cent. (As of last month, the United States ranked ninety-ninth among a hundred and ninety-three countries, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.)
Having strong alliances with African nations is also crucial to Trump’s national-security challenges. Africa’s security means American security, too. With the collapse of the Islamic State’s caliphate in Syria and Iraq, several hotbeds of jihadi extremism are in Libya, Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, and Somalia. With the support of African nations, the United States has deployed Special Forces and bombed extremists to deal with dangerous cells. And, by the way, roughly one out of every three women and one out of every five men in the U.S. military are African-American.
Video From The New Yorker

The Immigrants Deported to Death and Violence

Finally, the President’s coarse language will make it harder to make gains in his diplomatic agenda worldwide. Pity American diplomats, especially in non-white countries. The top U.S. envoy in Botswana was summoned to clarify whether the southern African nation is considered a shithole country, the Washington Post reported.
Perhaps the ultimate irony is that Trump’s own ancestors came from Africa, as did all mankind. In the book and documentary “The Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey,” the geneticist and anthropologist Spencer Wells traces the human migration out of Africa. He travelled the world for a decade to trace genetic markers by taking blood samples—from Bushmen in the sweltering Kalahari Desert and the Chukchi in icy Siberia to the Hopi in the American West—to prove the trail of the human migration. Wells concludes, “Old concepts of race are not only socially divisive but scientifically wrong.”
*An earlier version of this post misidentified the position of Rupert Colville.
