One more quick comment here before I take a bit of a break.

The earlier point I made in another thread about in-fighting within factions: here's one clear-cut example, specific to the ongoing protests (which -- earnest and righteous as any anti-war protests may be among a subset in the early stages -- are showing increasingly clear indications of being well-poisoned, infiltrated by bad actors, and purposely escalated to create deeper wedges and further entrench views).

If any kid is hurt tonight, responsibility will fall on the mayor and univ presidents.

Other leaders and schools have found a safe, de-escalatory path. This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety. A nightmare in the making.

I urge the Mayor to reverse course.

NEW - @NYCMayor says Columbia protest has been "co-opted" and is going to share their intel, he says at 1 Police Plaza. He advises students involved in the protest to leave the area and tells parents to tell their kids to leave "before the situation escalates."

"I’m urging every student and every protestor to walk away form this situation now and continue your advocacy through other means," mayor says. "This must end now."

People inside Hamilton Hall face charges of burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief, and trespassing, @NYPDDaughtry says. Those in the encampments outside face charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct.
