Does anyone else feel like...something isn't right,

Does anyone else feel like...something isn't right, with our world? Not just our leaders, but people in general, our history, heritages, the land itself...

This was a topic from voat, but I thought it would be interesting pushed through an RI filter.

We have certainly alluded to this via many threads and posts, particularly for me, the time distortion post, Didn’t Jack Palance Already Die? was one that for whatever reason, sent me into mild cognitive dissonance. Anyway, here's to a bizarro world...

p.s. Is Jeff Wells ever going to participate again?

Grizzly are you a fan of the subreddit "A Glitch in the Matrix"?

To be totally fair, I was watching Bonanza the other day and while I didn't start the "didn't Palance already die" thread, I am the one who prodded it to be started, I think maybe I was thinking of Lorne Greene. I dunno.

I still feel that my initial reaction was "on target" as they say. Now I'm not so sure.

I recorded this video in the midst of the famous Khao San Road in Bangkok, one day I was passing by during my vacations on Feb/13.
Only on this night I saw this street beggar, who was crippled and had some mental health issues, doing this very simple tricks with cards and bills the passants gave him.
There were no strings, no wires, no magnets, just the cards and bills, that he lifted with only his mind power. I personally took out a bill I had with me and gave it to him, and he lifted it right in front of my surprised eyes.
Later, I asked him how was he able to do that, and the answer was: "It comes from here (and pointed his chest), and also, but less, from here (and pointed his head)"
Yes I believe he was a telekinektic, and it only confirms me that we truly have this power within us. In his case, I think his withered body and somewhat twisted mind allowed him to focus on it, better developing it in some way.

Awesome video. Hope it doesn't turn out to be an M & M promo!

The best part is how the people passing by, even the ones who give the prodigal a coin, don't even notice what he is doing.

I like when the passerby picks up the card that's a few feet away from him to give it back, then he notices what he's doing... oh, uh, guess you didn't really need my help.

I just laid a Sri Lankan 100 rupee note on my desk and cupped my hands next to it, moving them in and out to create a draft under the bill. With a few seconds of practice I was able to lift the bill into the air, but not keep it aloft as the street performer did. However, if I did that all day long every day for awhile, I can see how I'd be able to get the bill to behave as he did.

Probably. :confused

The spinning card was more impressive, IMO

The weather ain't right. The super el nino in the pacific created by the oceans acting as a repository for excess solar energy trapped by greenhouse gases is creating a backdrop of weirdness for me. It's December 20th and while it is by no means unprecedented to have a brown xmas, it is nonetheless fairly rare for where I live. Except for one sort of freak snow fall in November that quickly melted we have seen nary a flake around here. Stranger though we have been averaging nearly 40 degrees f. for december. November was the warmest on record and december is shaping up to be the warmest on record as well. It feels, wrong. It's not scientific, but "something isn't right". When the clouds themselves don't seem right and the wind seems unfamiliar and ominous and the rain seems unproductive and superfluous, nothing else seems right.

Not just our leaders, but people in general, our history, heritages

We're unmoored. We've fucked up the planet and we know it and we keep fucking it up anyway. We're all pretending we haven't done it and aren't doing it and that civilization can continue as it always has. But this delusion is beginning to thin and fray at the edges. Everything we have been taught has turned out to be a lie and we can only escape the oppressive lie inside the womb of a cinema watching Harrison Ford reprise han solo (which I intend on doing).

I've seen this desperation across all dividing lines. It's everywhere. Only the socio/psychpaths flourish in this existential crisis of humankind.

the land itself...

From the wiki for derealization:

>>Derealization occurs in the context of constant worrying or "intrusive thoughts" that one finds hard to switch off.<<

Yeah.

The world has stopped making sense.

:grumpy another illusion bites the dust

I don't think the world ever made sense. Doesn't every generation think that the world is going crazy while looking back on the past as being more or less "progress" up to the point that they were born? The world we are born into is all we know so we adjust to the insanity of it and consider it normal (enough). Then we see the world/culture changing and mutating and we are able to see the insanity now because it doesn't match the internalized ideological madness which shaped our identities. So we think the world is going crazy when really it was always that way. Maybe it was even meant to be that way?

One thing that does seem to me to be real is that the mutation process is accelerating (liminality), and that people are going crazy (i.e., becoming less functional) because it is getting harder and harder to keep up with the cultural and ideological mutations and not to see that it is all arbitrary. That the values we base our sense of self around are false values, pretty much down to the last one.

IMO.

Acceleration. Yes. That distinguishes the times we are in and also, the fucking climate is fucked up. We have truly fucked the planet up; at least for life as we know it.

I agree that when fire was first harnessed there were probably many which felt the world had turned upside down and muttered/grunted about how something wasn't right.

This is different.
