UFO expert found dead days after texting mum: 'Your boy's in trouble - if anything happens to me, investigate'

17:40, 16 OCT 2016 UPDATED 21:30, 16 OCT 2016 BY MEGAN WHITE

Dad of two Max Spiers was found dead on a sofa days before he was meant to give a talk about conspiracy theories and UFOs

Relatives fear Max's dark investigations into UFOs and government cover-ups may have made him enemies who wanted him dead

A conspiracy theorist texted his mum to say 'If anything happens to me, investigate' just days before his mysterious death.

Max Spiers, 39, a father to two boys, was found dead on a sofa in Poland, where he had gone to give a talk about conspiracy theories and UFOs.

He was ruled to have died from natural causes despite no post-mortem examination being carried out on his body.

But his dark investigations into UFOs and government cover-ups may have made him enemies who wanted him dead, says mother Vanessa Bates, 63.

Max was ruled to have died from natural causes despite no post-mortem examination being carried out
In a chilling text message to his mum just days before his death, Max wrote: "Your boy's in trouble. If anything happens to me, investigate."

Originally from Canterbury, Max lived in America for a few years, but had returned to the city to stay with his mother, before jetting off to Poland.

Vanessa said: "He was making a name for himself in the world of conspiracy theorists and had been invited to speak at a conference in Poland in July.

"He was staying with a woman who he had not known for long and she told me how she found him dead on the sofa.

"But I think Max had been digging in some dark places and I fear that somebody wanted him dead."

Max made a career out of investigating UFO sightings and alleged cover-ups.

More recently, he was said to be probing into the lives of well-known figures in politics, business and entertainment.

His unexplained death, and its subsequent treatment by the authorities, has left many online followers convinced he was killed by government agents.

Conspiracy theorists have long been convinced that UFO chasers who get too close to the truth are "bumped off" by the secret services or so-called men in black.

On one website, Project Camelot, a blogger wrote: "The entire circumstances are suspicious and I urge everyone to encourage the release of details about what really happened and call for an autopsy."

Another, Craig Hewlett, added: "If it wasn't true what he talks about then why would they kill him? Healthy people don't just get sick and die, they get poisoned ."

Mum Vanessa, an English teacher, also buys into the theories.

She said: "Max was a very fit man who was in good health and yet he apparently just died suddenly on a sofa.

"All I have is a death certificate from the Polish authorities that it was from natural causes, but no post-mortem was done so how can they tell that?

"They are also refusing to release any paperwork about it to me because, absurdly, I don't have his written permission."

Max was buried in Canterbury cemetery after his mother arranged to have his body flown home a week after his death.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by a pathologist in east Kent, but Vanessa says that more than two months later she still does not know the result, or whether there will be an inquest.

She added: "Apparently, he had not suffered any obvious physical injuries but he could have been slowly poisoned, which is why the results of toxicology tests from his post-mortem are so important.

"He has a brother, Josh, and sister, Becky, who are both devastated, as are his two boys. We all want answers to this and I will continue to fight to get to the truth."

The North East Kent coroner's office would only confirm the death was at the "very early" stages of investigation.

An intraboard search for "Max Spiers" turns up nothing. What is...was his deal?

Your post prompted a search 4B. This from Youtube, which I've yet to browse:

He seems like a young, fit guy. Death by Natural Causes is a cop out in most cases. People don't naturally die. Their heart stops, their liver fails, their diaphragm stops pumping their lungs . . . and their's always a cause to these happening. It could be medication, illness, or trauma, but it's never just "oops" you're dead.

That said, if he was killed, it wouldn't necessarily have to be government related. I have a hard time believing that a government agency is so afraid of any internet-famous conspiracy theorists that they'd commit the resources to a murder and coverup. David Ickes is still around, isn't he? Now, with the ominous text to his mother, he seemed like he was afraid of something. Is it possible that he was involved (or indebted) to organized crime? Was he doing research in addition to UFOs, perhaps in a more threatening circle like finance or drug trafficking.

It could be the government; it's just that there are SO many UFO people out there. His research would have to be miles-above everyone else to be considered a thread. Here's one of his latest videos (maybe his last?). The audio is kind of low on my laptop.

It wouldn't be a matter of his research being miles above, as I see it. Just one unique angle could get him targeted. Doesn't take a genius to sniff up the right tree and piss off the wrong owl.

He seems like a John Lear type who believes almost anything.

I'm not watching the whole thing, but he doesn't seem entirely "well" in the first few minutes of the video above.

Yeah, it's like he can't seem to catch his breath. He gets winded at one point just from putting his arms above his head to describe a pyramid. He seems like maybe he had an undiagnosed heart condition of some sort. Poor guy.

It very well might just be a case of an befuddled weirdo who hyperventilated to death and had nothing coherent to say. Most such situations might be. To make sure that assassinations-designed-to-silence backfire, though, every vaguely suspicious death of anyone busy in the field of exposing taboo truths should get individual attention. Well, actually, maybe this could have been better as an add-on comment in a larger generic thread. Thing is, it made it onto Drudge, is how I saw it, on my daily left-right patrol. Drudge must not check beyond the headlines sometimes for actual newsworthiness versus clickbait. Or maybe this kid really did figure out some improbably crucial angle and wind of that made it to Drudge, who must have a rolodex with a few interesting sources.

Yes, and I used to check it out daily, but I found that it (and the particular witchy political voodoo of his vile juxtapositioning, at which he is undoubtedly very talented) was having a profoundly negative cumulative effect on my personal mood... it was bringing me down, making me depressed. I feel a lot better now that I've given up the Drudge habit. And I can always tell when I come across a story via Google News that Drudge has also linked to (hint: the comments section is boiling with ignorance, race hate, and trolls).

latest up-date has him "....vomiting black liquid..."

that article implies he was also into the "super soldier" mythos - another proponent of which- James Casbolt - managed to get involved in the sort of activities that might entail meeting with some sort of accident - casting aspersions by association here...

I had food poisoning once and recall puking up some black watery liquid as I was succumbing to the bug

( which is odd as I've just clocked another headline about Pam Anderson apparently assassinating Julian Assange with a poisoned sandwich ! ) :scaredhide:
