The Rise of Bigot America Thread

Postby stillrobertpaulsen » Fri Nov 11, 2016 9:02 pm

No, it's not a bloodbath - yet. We have not witnessed the American Kristallnacht - yet. But I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread documenting the rise of bigoted actions done in Trump's name by his followers.

Welcome to Trump’s America: 99 reports of people bullied by emboldened bigots — and the list is growing

Sarah K. Burris
November 10, 2016

First Lady-elect Melania Trump wants to stop bullying, but children all over America are being bullied today because of her husband.

“We must find better ways to honor and support the basic goodness of our children, especially in social media,” Mrs. Trump said at a Pennsylvania rally last week. “It will be one of the main focuses of my work, if I am privileged enough to become your first lady.”

Ironically, the International Bullying Prevention Association conference took place during the first part of this week and during Election Day.

“We know that traditional bullying results in higher rates of anxiety and depression and even higher risks of suicidal ideation and lower self-esteem and the research shows that we’re seeing similar impacts from cyber-bullying as well. It’s most likely to be harmful when there is that mixed harassment of bullying and cyber-bullying that occur together,” IBPA president Patricia Agatston said.

In a single day, Raw Story has reported on three cases of pro-Trump related bullying of students. The first occurred when students in Minnesota were greeted with “F*ck n*ggers” written on their door. A Michigan middle school had a small group of children chanting “build that wall,” while their fellow students, who are Latino, were crying. Another school, this one in Pennsylvania, had students marching with Donald Trump signs while chanting “white power.” We also covered a story of Trump supporters, who filmed themselves driving through Wellesley College, Hillary Clinton’s alma mater and harassing black students. George Zimmerman was also kicked out of a bar for calling someone a “n*gger lover,” though he wasn’t embolden by Trump. That’s just who he is.

Yesterday, we covered a south Philly neighborhood subjected to Nazi graffiti. A Utah man told a neighbor boy, “get out of here n*gger” — then attacked the boy’s dad with stun cane.

Friday, a report came in of an Afghanistan war veteran, who was rammed with a truck by Trump supporters. He was holding a sign reading “Veterans Against Trump.” The supporters tried to engage with him but when they were told police were on their way they fled the scene. Friday, we also learned that a Florida High School now has “white” and “colored” water fountain after students put up signs.

While there have not been many of these, there are incidents of anti-Trump violence. In the case of a Los Angeles school, Trump supporters were attacked and one principal is on leave after anti-Trump attacks. Another with anti-Trump protesters in College Park. Another man was also robbed and assaulted.

Thus far Melania Trump has not commented on any of these incidents.

Unfortunately, there have been so many of these stories we decided to begin compiling a list of them here:

Here’s a tweet from a young black student who captured a white boy calling him “a n*gger” and said that he “should be pickin’ cotton.”

Image

The Texas Statesman reports vigilante squads that are being organized at Texas State University.

Elon University students in North Carolina were welcomed to this message when they walked into Kivette Hall Room 100 this morning:

Image

An African American student at Temple University in Philadelphia reported that a white fraternity brother shouted at her. “Are you frustrated? Are you sad by what’s happened? Smile b*tch!”

Image

Kansas City middle school child was taunted with deportation from his fellow students. Later at lunch the two boys got into an argument, food was thrown and a full lunch tray was thrown at the boy.

Yarden Katz, a fellow in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School tweeted about a white postal worker in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who was filling up his USPS truck at a gas station. The man shouted at Katz, “Go back to your country. This is Trump land. You ain’t getting your check no more.” Katz noted before posting the report that “corporate journalists have repeatedly failed the public by catering to elite interests. This election’s coverage is only latest failure.”

Image

This was a truck in south Philly this morning:

Image

White students at Southern Illinois University donning blackface in front of a Confederate flag.

Image

Mexican students were targeted by Trump supporters, who were making racial slurs in Woodland, California.

Image

Southern Lehigh High School in Center Valley, Pennsylvania had cases of students attacked by their classmates yelling gay slurs and the n-word, but the incidents occurred last week. African American students were also called “cotton pickers” and some have even been using heil Hitler salutes.

LehighValleyLive reported that high school Principal Christine Siegfried had to have a special assembly and send a letter home with parents addressing the way that classmates should treat their fellow students.

Someone posted this graphic on Facebook of a Bucks County, Pennsylvania school administration official talking about things they were seeing from their students in school today. It’s unclear where the image originated, so take that with a grain of salt.

Image

This happened at a high school in central Florida:

Image

That wasn’t the only anti-Muslim attack. The Southern Poverty Law Center is reporting multiple attacks.

This was the door to the prayer room on the NYU campus:

Image

New Jersey high school students chanting “10 feet higher” at Latino students in the halls.

Image

Greeley, Colorado student humiliated by fellow students because she’s Latino.

Image

DeWitt Junior High School in Lansing, Michigan was the sight of another attack. White students formed a human wall and refused to allow Latino students to enter the school. Later that morning other students also laid down to form a wall in the hallways and chanted “build that wall” though no one was blocked at that time, The Lansing State Journal reported.

Zoie Gilpin, a sophomore at the University of Oregon, went to a Black Student Union meeting on campus Wednesday night. He found three young people wearing blackface on campus and recorded the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0qk_Il9JSE

Racial messages have also been found in an off-campus apartment near the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, WKBT reported. The message was written in black on a white door and said, “Go home n*gger.”

“I think the people that who are sometimes saying that this is exaggerated or you’re making too much out of it, that they really need to take a good look at these things, because this is true hate, and it has no place on our campus or community,” UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow said.

A message of unity taken from a quote from activist Shaun King was painted onto a sign. It read, “Dear Muslims, immigrants, women, disabled, LGBTQ and all people of color, we love you boldly and proudly. We will endure.” Someone spray-painted Trump 2016 over it.

Mr. King has also begun listing these incidents on his Twitter feed.

This woman was pumping gas at a station in Sandy Springs, a suburb outside of Atlanta, Georgia. “I’m so tired of you uppity f*cking n*ggers!” the man shouted.

Image

“Hey n*gger. Pick that up. Keep my streets clean,” one white Trump supporter shouted to Black woman in Indiana, Mr. King reported.

Image

King posted another screen capture of a Facebook post about a student at Plano East Senior High, in Plano, Texas who also had her hijab ripped off. King remarked he’s received at least 50 incidents of this over the last two days.

Image

Mr. King posted a screen capture of a note he received from July Thompson at Townson University in Maryland. Two Black men in her class were followed by white students on campus shouting the n-word. Mr. King conveyed this wasn’t the first person from the campus to reach out to him.

Image

A Latino mother in Ventura, California reported seeing 5th graders proudly chanting, “Build that wall.”

Image

“Go back to Asia,” said one white man to an American citizen. Mr. King confessed his in-box is flooded with 3,000+ emails of similar incidents nationwide.

Image

One of the more heartbreaking stories Mr. King tweeted came from a nurse at a cardiology facility. A patient of hers was an Iranian woman, who has been a citizen since 1986. She had to have a heart monitor put on her, which included multiple wires going in and out of her clothing and connecting to a small black box about the size of a cell phone. She asked if she could have a letter to carry with her from the doctor’s office so people wouldn’t think she was carrying a bomb and murder her.

Image

Then there was this:

Image

An Asian woman attacked by a man at a gas station in Napa Valley, California. She was filling her car up when he ran toward her shouting, “We won. Now get the f*ck out of my country.”

Image

...many more examples at link...

@StilPaulRobertson:

Gut churning...but sadly not a surprise. 8 years of a black president, gay rights happening relatively quick, the sometimes questionable SJW movement, women gaining more equality...
these idiots have been simmering for this moment. Gamergate and 4chan inversing Anon.

There's been a lot of violence against Trump supporters too, which makes me think there is a hidden power that wants to see both sides go nuts.

I mentioned this awhile back in the Alt Right thread, but theres literally hundreds of these "Moon Man" music videos and songs, each with thousands to hundreds
of thousands of views. Mostly watched by young kids. If people think Pepe memes or Alt Right Twitter accounts are bad....
"Moon Man" is the 1980s Mcdonalds icon Mac Tonite reappropriated into a violent racist rap star who sings about killing Gays, Blacks, Mexicans, Arabs, Women, etc
in gruesome ways. Often using gangster rap or classic rock songs as a parody. Many of these songs make S--Front sound like Mother Jones or Noam Chomsky

Black Freshmen At University Of Pennsylvania Receive Racist Messages Depicting Lynchings

Unknown senders targeted the students with racial slurs and hateful imagery, and their messages included references to President-elect Donald Trump.
11/11/2016 08:59 pm ET

Matt Ferner
National Reporter, The Huffington Post

ASSOCIATED PRESS
A number of black freshmen at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday received multiple messages via a mobile group messaging application containing graphic racist imagery and racial slurs.

The students were added to a GroupMe account titled “Mud Men” that contained “violent, racist and thoroughly repugnant images and messages,” the university said in a statement about the incident. The school added that it is still trying to determine how many students had been targeted .

GroupMe is a mobile app in which users can add people to a group chat and then send them photos and messages; the UPenn students were added to the racist group without their consent. It remains unclear how those responsible for the group obtained the contact information of the freshmen, and university officials declined to comment on the matter.

Screenshots of the group chat posted to social media show a series of vile messages, including a photo depicting lynchings with “I love America” written below it. Another message came in the form of a calendar invitation to a “Daily lynching” event set to Friday’s date, with a statement reading “Never be a n****r in SAE,” a college fraternity. The profile picture for the group, which appeared to have been altered, showed an African-American man wearing an orange prison jumpsuit.

Adrienne Hopkins, a 28-year-old MBA student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School who had seen the messages, told The Huffington Post that the name of the group changed throughout the day, and that at one point it was called “Trump lovers.” Hopkins also said she believed the individuals sending the racist messages had political motivations, because they had usernames that were variations on “Barack Obama” or “Trump disciples.” Some messages contained other racist slurs and Trump-related images, she said.

According to the university’s student newspaper, The Daily Pennsylvanian, in a group chat message titled, “Trump is love,” an individual wrote “dumb slave.” Another individual posted a photo of the Donald Trump campaign’s signature red hat with the words, “GRAB THEM BY THE P***Y,” the newspaper reported.

Hopkins, who is black, said the mood on campus was deeply somber and students felt “uprooted” by the racist messages. For many, she said, it was the first time they had been confronted by such explicit racism and vitriol.

“It was really sad to see their faces, they were crying,” Hopkins said, her voice cracking. “It was a reminder for them that no matter how much education you obtain, no matter the riches you amass, there are some people who will view your humanity as not worth the same amount as theirs.”

The account sending the messages is believed to be based in Oklahoma, the university said, but campus police and security staff are still investigating the exact source of the messages.
Image

University President Amy Gutmann, Provost Vincent Price and Executive Vice President Craig Carnaroli issued a joint statement Friday strongly condemning the messages.

“This is simply deplorable,” the statement read. “This is absolutely vile material and completely offensive to everyone on our campus. We are both angry and saddened that it was directed to our students or to anyone. The people responsible for this are reprehensible.”

The university administrators said they have taken steps to increase campus safety in the wake of the racist messages.

A college Republican group at the university also issued a statement on Facebook condemning the messages.

“These messages are absolutely despicable,” the post read. “Hate such as this has no place on Penn’s campus or in our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and we hope that Penn administration and Penn police find the perpetrators as soon as possible.”

Republican President-elect Donald Trump famously attended the university’s prestigious Wharton school, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in economics as an undergraduate. The student Republican group did not endorse Trump, The Daily Pennsylvanian reported.

In the three days since he was elected as president, there have been a glut of sickening racist acts, hate crimes and vandalism, including many that referenced his win or his campaign slogan.

Hopkins said that many students on campus are frustrated by the fact that Trump has not condemned the racist incidents around the nation and at University of Pennsylvania.

“There’s no way he can say he stands for unity and then not, at the same time, condemn the actions of those who are saying that they are doing these hateful things in his name,” Hopkins said. “I’m terrified that these types of things are happening three days after this man has been elected ― what in the world do we have in store over the next four years.”

Middle School Students Chant "Build The Wall"

^^ Thankfully NOT at my school.

So far at my school, in Florida, I haven't seen any aggressive actions on the part of students or staff. I did have a group of Hispanic students discus it during a project, and they mostly joked and laughed about Walls and getting kicked out of America. They were laughing and joking about their possible "fate", but I could detect the underlying concern that made them try and laugh about it. The thing is, though, these kids were all of Puerto Rican decent and are 100% American . . . but the general unease in the Latino community was obvious.

No excuse. F'ing humans; our great "equalizer" is our ability to be so stupid and so small-minded, falling prey too easily to the various methods in play to keep us divided/disparate.

In that, we are ALL equal, regardless of color/sex. Such folly.

"rights are being taken from them" -- has been happening for YEARS, under the watch of BOTH PARTIES.

"with his approval" --- who's approval? Since when does a president-elect have such authority? Do you have a time machine at your disposal, allowing you to jump ahead 6 months and then report back with your observations?

The rest of your rambling represents little more than forecasting of events that are FAR from certain.

I'm cutting myself off now -- enjoy.

Believe the autocrat. He means what he says. Whenever you find yourself thinking, or hear others claiming, that he is exaggerating, that is our innate tendency to reach for a rationalization. This will happen often: humans seem to have evolved to practice denial when confronted publicly with the unacceptable

Want democratic institutions to hold? Stop pretending there’s a “campaign Trump” and prepare to fight an autocrat
by: David Harris-Gershon on November 12th, 2016 | No Comments »

The following refrain has been heard repeatedly since the course of American history forever shifted on Tuesday night: Maybe President Trump will be different than candidate Trump.

It’s a refrain which has been uttered by NBA commentators, pundits, politicians, and everyday Americans hoping that Trump’s fascist rhetoric was nothing more than a vote-whipping device. It’s a refrain which has been repeated by those who believe the dignity of office of the presidency, indeed the Oval Office itself, somehow has the power to humble and shape those who hold it. It’s also a refrain which has been spoken by those who never believed Trump could win the presidency in the first place.

Many of those who were living in a fantasy world before Trump’s victory are now doing so after it, assuming that things will be okay. That everything will work out. That those authoritarian words spoken during a campaign cannot possibly reflect the man’s true intentions.

This is a grave mistake, and is precisely how fascism takes root.

We must come to understand that things are not necessarily going to be okay. And I’m not talking about domestic policy, which will see a disastrous unraveling as healthcare, environmental regulations, LGBTQ rights, immigration policies and more crumble. Nor am I talking about foreign policy, which will see alliances strained, diplomatic agreements gutted and global anti-democratic institutions emboldened. Nor am I talking about the Supreme Court, which will soon be lurching wildly to the right.

I’m talking about constitutional democracy itself, both those institutions established and those rights enshrined.

This is serious. Our country isn’t just facing an existential crisis, it’s facing a constitutional crisis as well. “Campaign” Trump expressed a desire to weaken our democratic institutions and then target the vulnerable. Do not assume he was being insincere, that he was just seeking votes.

Believe him. Believe every word he’s uttered.

The deplorable may be acting with The Hair's implied approval but this is not nearly as disconcerting as that they're acting under Obama's silence.

As the biggest celebrities, news anchors, comedians, etc are on tv every night calling for people to go to the streets....and as the Fox/Alt Right/Alex Jones media urges a pushback...
you can bet that there will be forces pushing both sides toward a catastrophic violent confrontation. You get a 9/11 or Paris, a Dylan Roofer or Anders Brevik psycho,
or mass killing of white people by BLM/activists and you could very well see the country erupt like never before. Forget LA 1992 or 1968 inner city riots.

SLAD, youre right, singing cumbuya and drum circles aint going to solve things. But I do applaud homeless advocates, gay rights, and all rights activates collaborating in a way
we havent seen since the 1960s.

Unfortunately, I feel Trump needed to win to make this coalition happen

If we start with riots and name-dropping Hitler, then where do we have to go, when bad things actually start happening?

Say that Trump enacts a executive order that deports all Italians, for example. . . . do we riot, protest, and call him Hitler? That card's already being played. People will already be sick of riots and Hitler references by then and those acts will have lost all power (what little power they actually have anyway).

It's like any argument or confrontation - you have to leave yourself room to escalate.

Black Stockings Left Hanging From Trees at SC University
By JEFFREY COLLINS, ASSOCIATED PRESS COLUMBIA, S.C. — Nov 14, 2016, 12:20 PM ET

Someone left black nylon stockings filled with dirt hanging from tree branches outside a South Carolina university hall named for an avowed racist.

The 18 stockings, shaped to abstractly look like a human head and body, were found Sunday morning outside Tillman Hall, with a sign taped over a plaque reading "Tillman's Legacy," according to a police report from Winthrop University in Rock Hill.

GOP Official Fired After Making Hideously Racist Comment About Michelle Obama
The two West Virginia GOP leaders who yucked it up over this post are sorry excuses for human beings.
By David Edwards / Raw Story November 15, 2016

Two officials in West Virginia have come under fire for sharing racist messages about First Lady Michelle Obama.

According to WSAZ, a message about the current first lady was shared thousands of times after it was posted on Facebook by Clay County Development Corporation Director Pamela Taylor.

“It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House,” Taylor wrote. “I’m tired of seeing an ape in heels.”

Clay Mayor Beverly Whaling reportedly praised Taylor’s post, writing, “Just made my day Pam.”

An online petition signed by 1,000 people called for both Taylor and Whaling to be fired.

Clay Town Councilman Jason Hubbard told Charleston Gazette-Mail that the controversy would be addressed at a council meeting on Tuesday.

For Taylor’s part, she insisted to WSAZ that she had already been reprimanded by the Clay County Development Corporation, which is funded by taxpayer money.

Taylor argued that the incident had been turned into a “hate crime against me.”
