The So-called Russian Hack of the DNC Does Not Make Sense by Publius Tacitus
Notwithstanding the conventional wisdom that Russia hacked into the DNC computers, downloaded emails and a passed the stolen missives to Julian Assange's crew at Wikileaks, a careful examination of the timeline of events from 2016 shows that this story is simply not plausible.
Good sensible piece, Marty, thanks. That simple timeline dispels a lot of confusion.
Earlier I wrote that I was unclear about whom the DNC may have contacted for help with the intrusions, because I hadn't heard of law enforcement being contacted (still haven't) but it's clear to me now that the DNC brought in CrowdStrike. The whole CrowdStrike thing struck me as more public relations than forensics; the DNC got the answer it wanted. All before any emails were published.
I'm just thinking out loud here...Assuming the "intelligence community" is out to get Assange & Wikileaks, what better smear (after a rape charge failed to have the full desired effect) than to associate Assange with Darth Putin and the evil Russian empire.
