Words and Phrases You Hate

Postby 82_28 » Sun Apr 30, 2017 9:26 pm

I have been meaning to make some kind of OP about this for quite some time.

I'll begin with a few that come to mind.

Contract
Contractor
Work
Worker
Job
Career
Make the most of yourself
Be all you can be

Oh there are more. But the above is just a starting point, if anyone feels like playing along.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

considering the theme of your list, aren't these actually things you hate?
in other contexts wouldn't those words be fine?
so you don't really hate the words, just how they represent your implied theme.

The neoliberal idiom: just a few of the most frequent and therefore annoying examples... New Yorkers will certainly recognize the new words for sorry, yes, and you're welcome (as a response to thank you).

Old English =========> Neoliberal idiom

yes ==================> absolutely!
worker ==============> independent entrepreneur
excuse me ===========> sorry!
passenger ============> customer
patient ==============> customer
interlocutor ==========> customer
life's a bitch ==========> it is what it is
relax / chill out ========> it's all good
you're welcome =======> no problem!
(why the fuck should there be a problem?)

you're welcome =======> no problem!

Its just something you say instead of saying thank you again,
A problem is not really being implied .
