Pro-Trump message boards and fake news sites use ridiculous image to accuse Obama of satanism

ALEX KAPLAN

Image

Pro-Trump message boards and fake news sites are absurdly suggesting former President Barack Obama practices satanism.

Since at least June 15, message boards on 4chan, Reddit, and Voat have pushed an image of a person who users say is Obama in some kind of headdress. Some of the users on the boards have pointed to the image to claim that “Q” (referring to the “QAnon” conspiracy theory) “leaked this photo of 0bama” to “prep the population for the exposure for the first time in history [of] the satanic cult that has run the world.” They also wrote that it was proof of “a satanic pedo cult” and that “Pizzagate is real” (nope, it still isn’t), that Obama is a “satanic niggerfaggot” and a “proven Satanist,” that Obama is part of the “satanic elites” and “a satanic cult that traffics children,” and that the picture is part of the “final destruction of Barack Hussein Obama.” Followers of the “QAnon” conspiracy theory have also used the image on Twitter.

The image supposedly comes from an Instagram account that posted it on the day of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The account has since deleted the image, explaining that there was “too much hate & not enough support.” Yet the image does not appear to exist anywhere else, per a Google reverse image search (the only results are the images that originated from that Instagram image, and there doesn’t appear to be any result for the image besides that account or before this past week). And forensics from InVID, a verification tool, suggest possible anomalies in the image -- specifically via tests showing whether a JPEG had been tampered with and manipulated -- similar to those identified in the fake image of Parkland, FL, mass shooting survivor Emma González, suggesting the image’s legitimacy is suspect.

Nonetheless, multiple fake news sites have run with the suspect image. Neon Nettle claimed that a “leaked image of Barack Obama dressed as Satan” has gone “viral,” and a similar article with nearly the same headline was subsequently posted by YourNewsWire.

The articles have been shared on Facebook, where they have drawn nearly 50,000 engagements combined, according to social media analytics website BuzzSumo, and been shared in groups dedicated to Pizzagate and to “QAnon.” In those groups, the image was cited as proof that Obama “went to an illuminati wedding” and is a “Satanic Pedovore.”

The image has also been shared on social media by a band; the Florida state director of The New Right, an organization co-founded by far-right figure Mike Tokes (the state director said it was “a picture of” Obama “dressed up as Satan”); Austen Fletcher, a contributor for far-right outlet The Rebel; white nationalist Hal Turner, and YouTube host Anthony Brian Logan. It’s also been shared in YouTube videos that have ads, meaning the accounts that uploaded the videos are making money off of the image. Even the International Business Times’ India site shared it as real, with the actual headline “Barack Obama's satanic image goes viral: Are Illuminati and Antichrist real?”

Dave Hodges: Facilities Housing Separated Immigrant Children Are Either Test FEMA Camps Or Child Sex-Trafficking Operations

By Kyle Mantyla | June 19, 2018 4:39 pm

Fringe right-wing conspiracy theorist Liz Crokin appeared on Dave Hodges’ “The Common Sense Show” on Sunday where she and Hodges discussed their concerns that the facilities that are being used to house immigrant children who have been separated from their parents at the southern border are being used for sex trafficking.

Crokin, who has made a career out of accusing anyone and everyone of being involved in satanic pedophilia and child sex trafficking, amazingly claimed that she had heard nothing about the issue of family separation, despite the fact that it has been dominating the news cycle for weeks. We are actually inclined to believe Crokin’s claim of ignorance on this issue because the course of the discussion she had with Hodges clashed rather obviously with her other obsession, which is praising President Trump as “a real life super hero” who is “never wrong.”

Hodges asked Crokin her thoughts about Sen. Jeff Merkely’s effort to inspect one of the facilities in which the government is housing children who have been separated from their parents, only to be denied entry. When Crokin said that she hadn’t heard anything about it, Hodges raised his concerns that something nefarious was taking place in these facilities.

“This set off alarm bells for me,” Hodges said. “To me, there has got to be something funny going on there. It’s one of two things: they’re beta-testing a FEMA camp or it’s child sex-trafficking and I think it’s the latter.”

“Yeah,” Crokin replied, saying the entire story “is really scary.”

Caveat Lector

Jerome Corsi Just Spoke At DC’s Most Powerful Think Tank

By Jared Holt | June 20, 2018 5:10 pm

Infowars Washington bureau chief Jerome Corsi spoke before a crowd at the Heritage Foundation this afternoon, an organization that has worked overtime to fill the Trump administration with its people who will enact its agenda.

Despite the fact that Corsi is an off-the-wall conspiracy theorist, he is somehow still treated seriously by some who travel in mainstream conservative circles, allowing him to get columns in publications like USA Today and book interviews on C-SPAN and Newsmax. Today, the latest conservative institution to host Corsi just happened to be one of the most powerful conservative organizations in the nation.

Corsi was introduced by Nancy Schulze, founder of Republican Congressional Wives Speakers, as well as a “Women for Trump” bus tour in North Carolina, who is in town to address the “Tea for Trump” event at the Trump Hotel in Washington this weekend, where a member of the president’s family is expected to attend. Schulze introduced him as “master truth-teller, Jerome Corsi.”

Some of Corsi’s unbelievable truths have included devoting countless hours to a conspiracy theory known as “The Storm” that centers around the ludicrously untrue assertion that President Trump personally ordered for a high-level administration official with top-level security clearance to post riddles on 4chan and 8chan as a coded message to right-wing conspiracy theorists that Trump is secretly taking down a vast network of satanic pedophiles, including many Democrats. During his “research,” Corsi has baselessly accused various people of being pedophiles, promised that video will be released showing elites butchering children, and challenged multiple federal officials to fight him behind the Department of Justice.

Corsi is also a chief proponent of the “birther” conspiracy theory suggesting that Barack Obama was not born in the United States and wrote a book in 2004 promoting unfounded “Swift Boat” claims that John Kerry lied about his time in the military.

During his talk, Corsi told attendees that former FBI Director James Comey and Special Counsel Rob Mueller had laundered billions of dollars per day for drug cartels and terrorists, and reasserted his claims that information about a global satanic pedophile network would soon be revealed.

“This whole New World Order is, in fact, I think diabolical. And we’re in a spiritual battle because increasingly we’re learning how much the pedophilia, the Satanism, the luciferin elements pervade Silicon Valley, Hollywood, the elite. You’re going to find out much more about this in the next year,” Corsi said.

Corsi also told the crowd that it was “a miracle” that Trump was elected, to which he received an “amen” from someone in the audience. He said, “I truly do think the hand of God is on Donald Trump.”

He also claimed that communists are posing as Democrats and “want to kill huge numbers of the population to force us into a New World Order.”

Trump Team Gives VIP Rally Access To ‘QAnon’ Truther

When President Trump approached the podium at his rally last night in Duluth, Minnesota, he paused for a split-second to gesture to a man wearing a shirt emblazoned with the letter “Q.”

Image

As you’d expect, fans of the QAnon conspiracy went wild.

Followers of the conspiracy theory claimed that Trump gesturing to the cheering man wearing the QAnon shirt was irrefutable proof that the theory is real. Even the anonymous author of the Q posts noticed the man, posting “Now that’s what I call a VIP!”

Q also shared a Facebook post claiming that a man got on a table at the Trump rally and started to expound on the QAnon theory and says that he started a call-and-response chant of the QAnon catchphrase, “Where we go one, we go all.” Q wrote back, “We hear you, Patriots!”

QAnon adherents also suspect that Trump may have made a hand gesture during his speech to signal to them.

Pro-Trump media use FBI IG report to bring back Pizzagate

ALEX KAPLAN

Image

Far-right media figures, message boards, and fake news sites are using the Department of Justice inspector general report on the Hillary Clinton email probe to bring back the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy theory. The false claim reviving the conspiracy theory has since made its way to some radio stations, where the hosts have entertained it as real.

On June 14, the Justice Department’s inspector general released the findings of his review into how the FBI handled the probe into former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. The report criticized the handling of the probe and former FBI Director James Comey’s conduct, but it did not disagree with the agency’s decision to not call for charges against Clinton.

Since the report was released, far-right message boards and figures and fake news sites have falsely claimed that two pages in the report proved that Clinton was involved in child sex trafficking because they had the phrases “Hillary Clinton & Foundation,” “Crime Against Children,” and “sexual exploitation of children” mentioned, even though there is no indication that the phrases are related in the report. The claim is a clear reference to the debunked conspiracy theory known as Pizzagate, which claimed that Clinton was using a Washington, D.C. pizzeria as a front for a peodphila ring and which eventually caused a gunman to open fire inside that restaurant. Some of those using the report to push that false claim played a major role in initially spreading the conspiracy theory in 2016.

True Pundit -- a dubious site known for numerous false stories that counts Donald Trump Jr. as a fan and played a major role in spreading Pizzagate -- published a piece with the headline “IG Report Confirms True Pundit BOMBSHELL on Hillary’s Emails; Details Comey Was Briefed on Clinton-Linked ‘Sex Crimes Against Children’ Evidence on Weiner Laptop.” The article claimed the report vindicated the site’s November 2016 piece that spread the hoax (former national security adviser Michael Flynn shared that piece on Twitter in 2016). True Pundit’s latest piece has been promoted on social media by various people including prominent conspiracy theorist Liz Crokin, with the hashtags “Pizzagate” and “QAnon”; Matt Crouch, a far-right figure who is being sued by the former family spokesperson of slain Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich; Marco Gutierrez, who ran “Latinos for Trump” during the 2016 campaign and is a former Republican congressional candidate; veteran and author Boone Cutler; and Infowars’ Jerome Corsi, despite Infowars previously apologizing for spreading Pizzagate. The article was also promoted on the Pizzagate forum of far-right message board Voat.

YourNewsWire, a fake news site that also prominently pushed Pizzagate in 2016, published a piece headlined “IG Report: Hillary Clinton Ran Child Sex Ring,” which was spread by at least one YouTube video that had ads, meaning the account was able to make money off of the fake story. Another fake news site, Neon Nettle, also published a piece headlined “IG Report: Hillary Clinton Has Committed 'Sexual Crimes Against Children,'” which was shared in Facebook groups dedicated to Pizzagate and “QAnon” conspiracy theories. Another fake news site, Conservative Daily Post, also claimed the report “confirms Clinton links to ‘crime against children.’” Those stories carried ads, meaning they were making money off of the false claim.

Additionally, the false claim has been spreading on a “QAnon” subreddit, where it was cited as proof that “Pedogate is real,” and 4chan's “politically incorrect” message board (common known as /pol/). Followers of the “QAnon” conspiracy theory on Twitter also shared it, some of whom also connected it to Pizzagate. Radio host and white nationalist Hal Turner also posted it on his website.

The false claim also made its way from the internet to some radio stations, where hosts entertained it as real. On California talk station KSCO-AM, hosts responded to a caller pushing it by saying, “That hasn’t been discussed in the mainstream media,” and that “all of that is starting to maybe surface.” The hosts told the caller that he had made a “tremendous contribution.” The caller urged the hosts to check out Before It’s News, a site that also pushed Pizzagate, to which one of the hosts said she knew the site and would “check it out.” On Texas talk station KCRS-AM, hosts also responded to a caller pushing it by saying, “Oh, and they’re not going to say anything about that,” later adding that the IG report was “damning for FBI, for liberals, for so many folks” due in part to “saying something about the Clinton Foundation and how they were abusing children.” And on Massachusetts talk station WRKO-AM, a host responded to a caller saying the IG report showed “evidence that the Clinton Foundation committed crimes against children” by saying the caller was “on fire.”

HHS Official Called John Podesta a Pedophile and Claimed Liberals Abuse Children in Satanic Rituals

by Caleb Ecarma | 12:17 pm, June 21st, 2018

Health and Human Services official Ximena Barreto publicly apologized recently for her “heated and hyper-passionate” tweets on race and far-right conspiracies, after they were reported on by CNN.

She made her Twitter account private, and held on to her government job. But on that now-private account, she’s been unapologetic — recently calling the reports exposing her fringe views a “smear campaign.”

Mediaite conducted an extensive review of her social media posts and found that the HHS appointee pushed the baseless Pizzagate conspiracy theory even more than previously reported. Her tweets include smearing former Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta as “a pedophile,” accusing Democrats of hosting “Pedophile dinners,” and claiming liberals abuse children during satanic rituals.

The Department of Health and Human Services is tasked with implementing health and welfare-related programs. Recently, the department came under fire for losing track of more than a thousand unaccompanied immigrant children that crossed the southern border and were placed with adult sponsors.

After her apology, Barreto, who worked as a far-right media personality before joining HHS in December 2017, was allowed to keep her Trump administration job — albeit, with a demotion from her old deputy director of communications post. But her private comment attacking CNN for reporting on her controversial posts suggests she is far from repentant.

“Locked my account after CNNs smear campaign,” Barreto wrote on June 14 in response to a follower asking why they can’t retweet her posts. “[I] received too many threats and packages delivered to my home.”

Barreto did not offer evidence to followers proving her claim that she was doxxed and is receiving threats. It is also not clear how making her Twitter private would deter these supposed threats, but a locked account certainly allows her to recant her public apology to her fan base without her employers at HHS seeing.

The Department of Health and Human Services and Barreto were contacted repeatedly via email and phone for comment, but did not respond. After this reporter asked for comment, Barreto shut down her private Twitter account and deleted her tweet calling the CNN articles on her views a “smear campaign.”

In past reports on Barreto’s extreme views, the right-wing media watchdog group Media Matters found that the HHS official made racist attacks against African-Americans, called Islam a “cult,” and pushed the Pizzagate conspiracy. An investigation from CNN’s KFile team found that Barreto had shared a picture calling for the hanging of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for “treason,” as well as pushed the Seth Rich murder conspiracy.

Mediaite obtained screenshots of Barreto’s Twitter feed that show she pushed Pizzagate — an absurd conspiracy theory that claims the Clintons, the Podesta brothers, and other Democrats ran a child sex trafficking ring in a D.C. pizza restaurant — far more than previously reported.

“That time when andrew breitbart calls out @johnpodesta for being a pedophile #HeKnew,” Barreto tweeted in March 2017 — echoing the baseless conspiracy claiming Breitbart was murdered because he was trying to expose Democrats ties to pedophile rings (Breitbart actually died due to congestive heart failure).

She continued this claim in other tweets, writing that “@AndrewBreitbart definitely knew of #PizzaGate before passing!” and quote tweeting an old Breitbart tweet with just the hashtag “#Pizzagate.”‘

The so-called “spirit cooking” conspiracy, which alleges — without evidence — that John Podesta, his lobbyist brother Tony Podesta, and other high profile Democrats practice Satanic rituals that involve preying upon young children, was another conspiracy that Barreto frequently pushed.

“@johnpodesta why have you not tweet since nov 7th? Having too much pizza at spirit cooking parties? Or playing dominoes? #PizzaGate,” Barreto tweeted in late November 2016.

In another tweet, Barreto claimed liberals use “children… in their #SpiritCooking parties.” She pushed the same claim when someone responded to one of her posts, writing, “Are u into the pedophile satanic stuff that podesta is in?”

She also connected the Pizzagate and spirit cooking conspiracies to the rapper Jay-Z, who was a Clinton supporter, tweeting, “Didn’t jay z sold crack? And shoot his brother? #BasketOfCriminals #SpiritCooking.”

Barreto attempted to combat the spirit cooking by using spiritual warfare.

“#SpiritCooking Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet,” tweeted the HHS official, alongside a meme that read, “There is no election in 2016. There is only the trial of Crooked Hillary. On November 8th, vote guilty.”

The official even tied the women’s health organization Planned Parenthood to satanic rituals, tweeting, “#SpiritCooking Planned parenthood spent 38 million for democrats #AbortionsForSatan.”

Her other contributions to fighting the nonexistent pedophile ring include accusing Hillary Clinton of “trying to distract us from #PizzaGate,” invoking the supposed “Pedophile dinners” of Democrats to excuse Russian election tampering, and stating that Clinton should still be held responsible for “#PizzaGate #BillsVictims and all the things she has done wrong.”

In total, Mediaite found that Barreto tweeted about variations of the Pizzagate conspiracy at least 17 times. Additionally, she spoke at length about Pizzagate in a Periscope video, as detailed by the Media Matters report.

Her other controversial posts include Barreto saying, “Islam [is] a cult that oppresses women, kills gays and wants us all dead,” as well as claiming all Muslims “practicing Islam” are terrorists because “their religion is barbaric.” Barreto also pushed the Seth Rich conspiracy in three separate tweets, using the hashtags “#KilledByTheDNC,” “#HillaryBodyCount,” “#ClintonBodyBags,” “#SethRich,” “#Hero,” and “#RIP.”

The Obama photo is interesting, although I'm not even 50% sure it's him.

Makes sense that the peasants would see only cartoon Satanism, but really, the biggest thing going for that .jpg's authenticity is the fabulous nature of the costume -- squarely in line with the same Euro-Trash occult kitsch we've been seeing since the 60's & 70's. Indeed, he could have wandered out of our timeline and walked into that Rothschild Surrealist Party from '72.

This is very much how they party in The .01%.

Still, the utility value of conspiracy theory culture proves itself yet again. The bullshit narrative that gets attached to the photo becomes the grounds for Respectable Journalists™ to ignore it altogether. Which is exactly how James Alefantis managed to avoid scrutiny.

God Told Jim Bakker That Trump Was Chosen To Give Christians A Chance To Prepare For The End Times

By Kyle Mantyla | June 26, 2018 10:27 am

On his television program yesterday, End Times prepper pastor Jim Bakker said that God had told him that the first horse of the Apocalypse has been released on earth and that President Trump was elected in order to give Christians time to prepare for the Last Days.

“Have you ever seen a time when we hate our president like the people do now?” Bakker marveled. “Literally half the nation hates the president and would probably kill him if they got a chance.”

Bakker said that when he asked God what was going on, God told him that “you are in Revelation, Chapter 6,” which tells of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

“This is what He told me,” Bakker claimed. “He said, ‘Donald Trump is a respite in this troubled times and I sent him in grace to give you time to prepare for what’s coming on earth.'”

Bakker said that while “the Antichrist spirit” has been let loose on America, “God has given us a man who is not afraid to fight. We have a president people think is crazy. They call him crazy, but he’s making peace treaties, he’s doing all the things to try to solve the world’s problems and God has put him on earth—God spoke to me the other night, He said, ‘I put Donald Trump on earth to give you time, the church, to get ready.'”

Pro-Trump Conspiracy-Monger “QAnon” Calls for Regime Change in Iran
Whitney Webb/Jun 26, 2018

WASHINGTON – As Henry Kissinger predicted soon after the 2016 election, Donald Trump’s “transition from being a campaigner to being a national strategist” has been seamless. Much like the change Barack Obama underwent in 2008, where “anti-establishment” campaign rhetoric and promises became a thing of the past and a “status quo” neoliberal/neoconservative agenda was adopted in its place, Trump’s transition has led to a resurgence of power and influence among Washington’s most notorious neoconservatives and a continuation of many of the policies that he had once railed against.

Trump’s decision to assume the mantle of George W. Bush should have angered his base, as his promises to “drain the swamp” of the nation’s capital ring ever-hollow amid the ascension of the worst of Washington’s cesspool to powerful positions in the Trump administration. However, such anger among Trump’s base has failed to materialize en masse. Instead, the anger has largely been diverted and redirected, thanks to an internet phenomenon known simply as “QAnon.”

QAnon began last October when an anonymous account began posting in the internet forum 4chan – and later the related forum 8chan — and claimed to be a well-positioned source in the Trump administration with “Q” level security clearance. Notably, Q emerged just as war with North Korea seemed imminent, coming just as Trump met with military leaders and warned that it was “the calm before the storm.” Q’s first posts were in direct reference to that statement, placed under a thread titled “Calm before the Storm,” and the mysterious figure’s subsequent posts are collectively known as “the Storm.” Qanon has been promoted by prominent figures on the Trump-supporting right like Sean Hannity, Roseanne Barr and Alex Jones, among others.

Since the phenomenon began, the posts of the anonymous “Q” have engaged in the construction of a parallel reality — one where Robert Mueller is actually investigating Hillary and Bill Clinton; several other high-profile, corrupt Democrats will soon be shipped off to Guantanamo Bay; swamp monster John Bolton is actually “cleaning up” Washington; and Julian Assange of WikiLeaks has been “rescued” from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

The reality constructed by QAnon has ultimately unfolded much like a fictitious spy novel, one that details a “secret” counter-coup by the Trump administration against the so-called “Deep State” that Trump – in reality — has dutifully served ever since winning the 2016 election. Despite QAnon’s having been proven wrong repeatedly, its following remains large and the phenomenon itself remains influential.

Robert Martin, a documentary filmmaker whose series “A Very Heavy Agenda” delves into the nefarious political influence of the neoconservatives, told MintPress that QAnon is the “perfect wish-fulfillment conspiracy snowball” aimed at conservatives, adding that it has worked to “rehabilitate some of the most tarnished and scary neocons to all of a sudden be heroic figures.” Among the figures who have been promoted by QAnon as heroes resisting the “deep state” include Blackwater founder Erik Prince, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former Mayor of New York City turned Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

In fact, Martin asserted that QAnon appears to be an evolution of a proposal once put forth by Cass Sunstein, a close confidant of Barack Obama, who had urged the government infiltration of anti-government and anti-establishment groups and, as Salon noted at the time, would manipulate such groups in order to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of “conspiracists.”

Curt Schilling Backs Pro-Trump ‘QAnon’ Conspiracy Theory

06.26.18 10:23 PM ET

Baseball great Curt Schilling has quite a story he’d like to share—and it’s not about his famous “bloody sock” World Series game. On Tuesday, the retired Boston Red Sox pitcher promoted a video on his Facebook page explaining the pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy, which posits that President Trump and his allies in the military are about to sweep away a cabal of globalist elites responsible for all the evil in the world.

The byzantine QAnon theory, which centers on anonymous clues about the real state of the world left on Internet message boards by an unknown figure dubbed “Q,” relies on the idea that Trump is about to sweep away his enemies in a mass arrest dubbed “The Storm.” While anyone with internet access could be the one posing as “Q,” the theory’s followers are convinced that the clues are coming from high-up within the Trump administration.

QAnon is already having dangerous real-world effects—on June 15, an armed man in an improvised armored truck blocked traffic on a highway near the Hoover Dam and held up signs that appeared to reference QAnon.

“I've been asked about ‘Q’ for months now,” Schilling wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday. “Never really knew what it was all about, I had my ideas but until recently I hadn't done anything. I started to research this about a month ago and was sent this today. You will not be able to stop watching once you start.”
