No suspects. Nor have they identified any in the eleven days since that press conference. So how do they know it was the Russians? They don't, of course.

Heh... them. :megaphone:

Apparently "produced by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and Voice of America (VOA)".

When I first came cross them, I honestly thought they were some sort of clever satire - I mean, just the name 'Polygraph'?!? Somebody actually thought that was a good idea? Did they not get the memo? :eeyaa

No longer a useful narrative, apparently, though it'll be interesting to follow any reported developments on the status of the Skripals in the months to follow. The extent of their detention, or ability to move about freely, remains unclear.

It's amazing - the western media have nothing to say. The conversation is all about Russian motives, or other nefarious inferences directed east, but nothing at all regarding the health, wellbeing, and whereabouts of Sergi Victorovich, or his daughter.

I've yet to see a plausible explanation for why they are currently absent from the narrative

Time is the enemy of the truth, right? Sooner or later, anything can be admitted without causing trouble for the miscreants who lied. A coverup need not involve actually murdering or harming the Skripals, beyond a bit of apparent witness protection type house arrest. Just enough time - say, until it need not be an issue in a general election, or after a nice fat new war gets started so that no one cares or wants to remember. This is not a case where special intimidation is likely to be required. Hold'em incognito for a while, they get the message, let'em loose in a few months, a few months after that they might squeak a bit but the story's long dead. One possibility.

Sergei Skripal’s niece has been refused a visa to visit Britain for a second time as he continues to be treated for nerve agent exposure.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “We have refused a visa application from Viktoria Skripal on the grounds that she did not meet the requirements of the immigration rules.”

Peak Bullshit from the government PR firm forrmerly (and still) known as the Guardian:

Almost 100 police have received psychological help after Salisbury attack

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/may/17/almost-100-police-have-received-psychological-help-after-salisbury-attack-wiltshire-force

They should offer psychological help to anyone unlucky enough to come into contact with such churnalism.

Almost 100 Wiltshire police officers and staff have sought psychological support after the nerve agent attack in Salisbury, the Guardian can reveal.

"Reveal"!

Some reported feeling disorientated and anxious [i.e., some said, "What the fuck's going on 'ere?"] while others were concerned about the possible long-term health effects on the public. [Set your mind at ease, Plod. Laughter is good for the public's health.]

Wiltshire’s chief constable, Kier Pritchard, told the Guardian that officers – including himself and other police personnel continued to receive help [from MI6, presumably] more than two months after the attack.

Pritchard took up the role of head of the force on the day of the attempted murders and said he had personally received the “best support” as he worked through the implications for him and his family of being a high-profile figure in the response to a state-sponsored attack.

The bolded bit could be Inspirational Quote of the Day. Was this shit actually written by Oprah? (Also: "a state-sponsored attack"? Why so coy? Why not state which state?)

This is worth noting:
Pritchard took up the role of head of the force on the day of the attempted murders

Amazing coincidence. His very first day! Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Wiltshire police rarely have to deal with anything more worrying than a crop circle or an escaped cow.

There's a lot of "coincidences" around these types of events - false flags, for what of a better description.

Here's another doozy

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/exer ... al-warfare

40 Commando Royal Marines and The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) have staged the UK’s biggest annual exercise to prepare troops for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) operations. Exercise TOXIC DAGGER is supported by Dstl, along with Public Health England (PHE) and The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), and is the largest exercise of its kind in the country.

Specialists in CBRN from Dstl and AWE are able to create realistic exercise scenarios based on the latest threat information. Completing the training and exercising against these scenarios provides a challenging programme for the Royal Marines to demonstrate their proficiency in the methods to detect, assess and mitigate a CBRN threat.

The three-week programme included Company-level attacks and scenarios concerning CBRN vignettes, concluding with a full-scale exercise involving government and industry scientists and more than 300 military personnel.

What's that, a chemical weapons attack drill, centered around Porton Down and Salisbury, staged in the weeks leading up to the events where Sergei and Julia were alleged to have been attacked (non-fatally) with a high dose (100g) of the most toxic military grade nerve agent ever produced? I can see why the media didn't mention this very much if at all. Clearly not important

Ready for this, Rory? Guess who gets the job of detecting "fake news" on Facebook?

Announcing New Election Partnership with the Atlantic Council
By Katie Harbath, Global Politics and Government Outreach Director

Facebook is investing heavily to prevent our service from being abused during elections. We’re doubling the number of people who work on safety and security and using technology like artificial intelligence to more effectively block fake accounts – the source of many bad ads and a lot of misinformation. In addition, we’re more actively working with outside experts, governments and other companies because we know that we can’t solve these challenges on our own. For example, last month we announced an independent commission to help fund and organize research into the impact of social media on society — starting with elections.

Today, we’re excited to launch a new partnership with the Atlantic Council, which has a stellar reputation looking at innovative solutions to hard problems. Experts from their Digital Forensic Research Lab will work closely with our security, policy and product teams to get Facebook real-time insights and updates on emerging threats and disinformation campaigns from around the world. This will help increase the number of “eyes and ears” we have working to spot potential abuse on our service — enabling us to more effectively identify gaps in our systems, preempt obstacles, and ensure that Facebook plays a positive role during elections all around the world.

I'm quite taken aback by this - that they would be this up front about things. As chilling a portent as I've seen re Russia war build up this past while. Sure, Facebook is absolute garbage, yaddayadda, but for them to swing this blatantly fasch is a very bad sign. Delete your Facebook if you've not done so already

https://www.rt.com/op-ed/427207-faceboo ... ssion=true

Facebook has engaged a think tank funded by weapons manufacturers, branches of the US military and Middle-Eastern monarchies to safeguard the democratic process. It's akin to hiring arsonists to run the fire brigade.

If Facebook truly wanted to “protect democracy and elections worldwide,” it would build a broad coalition of experts and activists from a wide and disparate range of the countries it serves. Instead, the American social media giant has outsourced the task to NATO’s propaganda wing.

Charles Shoebridge
@ShoebridgeC

Hearing of his hospital release today, and having waited more than two months for any word from him, the elderly and ailing mother of Sergei #Skripal pleads with "whoever now decides Sergei's freedom of movement and speech, to please allow him to call her"

https://mobile.twitter.com/ShoebridgeC/ ... 0478915584

She is 90 years old, and ill. The UK's Tory government and spooks have granted her no access to her son and granddaughter.
