Oh yeah, what pattern is that? This tit-for-tat thing is just beneath adult people, frankly.

Why do you feel the need to post some random, unrelated "AOC's words" from months ago immediately after someone posts a piece of CURRENT NEWS about AOC?

you brought up pattern I also see a pattern

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Using the words “invasion,” “infestation,”w respect to a specific, targeted group of people, implying they are vermin: this is the language of white supremacy &it goes all the way to the top.

It’s not a matter of political stances. This is stoking hatred+endangering the country.

Adult people don't need to set up heroes to uncritically worship.

But have a good session, I'm done here for now.

AOC rips McConnell over pic of young men in ‘Team Mitch’ shirts ‘groping & choking’ cutout of her

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday night after a photo surfaced on social media, showing a group of young men “groping and choking” a cardboard cutout of the freshman congresswoman — while wearing shirts that say, “Team Mitch.”

“Hey @senatemajldr – these young men look like they work for you,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

“Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll,” she asked, “or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch?”

The picture in question was posted on Facebook and then shared by a Twitter user named @emrazz.

“Break me off a piece of that,” the caption reads.

“Future federal judges of America,” tweeted @emrazz in response.

The photo emerged Monday just one day after Ocasio-Cortez publicly condemned McConnell — in the wake of the El Paso and Dayton shootings — for not calling a Senate vote on a gun reform bill that was passed by the Democratic-controlled House back in February.

“The House passed HR8, a Bipartisan Background Checks Act, *5 months ago* and the Senate has yet to vote on it,” the New York lawmaker tweeted. “It was one of our 1st major priorities after ending the gov shutdown. You’ve been sitting on it since February giving bogus excuses. Care to explain the people why?”

Ocasio-Cortez was responding to a tweet from McConnell, in which he offered his condolences to the victims of the El Paso shooting.

“The entire nation is horrified by today’s senseless violence,” said the majority leader. “Elaine’s and my prayers go out to the victims of this terrible violence, their families and friends, and the brave first responders who charged into harm’s way.”

Several other legislators, including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have urged McConnell to call Senate back into session and revisit the bill.

“One awful event after another,” said Schumer in a statement. “Leader McConnell must call the Senate back for an emergency session to put the House-passed universal background checks legislation on the Senate floor for debate and a vote immediately.”

If it were to be revealed that Chakrabarti has engaged in some shady inside-the-Beltway dealings, it will be very easy to paint AOC as just another champagne socialist, talking the talk but not walking the walk. It's the oldest trick in the book when it comes to smearing leftists. And it poses serious questions about AOC's judgement.

But Chakrabarti is apparently pretty loaded from his background in the Silicon Valley. Why would he need to engage in this kind of small time hustling? Of course rich people ARE always looking to cut corners when it comes to paying for stuff from their own purses, so who the fuck knows...

The AOC campaign must have been pretty much a tornado having blown up so fast, so it's understandable that she might have not been able to oversee things very efficiently.

Feds probing AOC’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti after sudden resignation

The Feds are looking into possible campaign finance misdeeds by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff and lead rainmaker, who suddenly resigned Friday, federal sources told The Post.

The inquiry centers on two political action committees founded by Saikat Chakrabarti, the top aide who quit along with Ocasio-Cortez spokesman Corbin Trent, the sources said. Trent left to join the congresswoman’s 2020 re-election campaign.

The brash Chakrabarti, who masterminded Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign and steered her proposed Green New Deal, had caused uproar in the halls of Congress with a series of combative tweets that contributed to a rift between his rookie boss and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“People were not happy that he used his Twitter account to comment about members and the bills that he and his boss oppose,” a senior House Democratic staffer said. “There was a series of colliding and cascading grievances.”

The two PACs being probed, Brand New Congress and Justice Democrats, were both set up by Chakrabarti to support progressive candidates across the country.

But they funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled, according to Federal Election Commission filings and a complaint filed in March with the regulatory agency.

In 2016 and 2017, the PACs raised about $3.3 million, mostly from small donors. A third of the cash was transferred to two private companies whose names are similar to one of the PACs — Brand New Congress LLC and Brand New Campaign LLC — federal campaign filings show.

The campaign financing shell game is 100% old news. It has been explained by Chakrabarti many times before as a new way to work within campaign finance rules, which are arcane enough such that experts can legitimately disagree on this. I see no reason to connect Chakrabarti's resignation to these alleged misdeeds. Only Faux News outlets such as the NY Posts are putting this spin on his decision.

.

It's a testament to the state of our cartoonish establishment/mainstream press that 'news' items, such as the one cited above, would be ignored by certain sources while embraced by others. "Federal sources told The Post" is certainly not ironclad. And we all know "The Feds" are perpetual liars, criminals and frauds [not unlike the mainstream press in some respects, at least in the nuanced acts of lying and fraud].

Here's the angle from the NY Times, which, while excluding any indications of a Federal Probe, offers some added insight into their own version of 'optics management' catered to their respective demographic:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/02/us/p ... ortez.html

WASHINGTON — Two of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s top aides who were instrumental in forging her unexpected path to victory last year are leaving Capitol Hill, less than a month after one of them ignited a firestorm by challenging Speaker Nancy Pelosi and comparing moderate House Democrats to segregationists.

House Democrats had been privately calling for the ouster of Saikat Chakrabarti, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s embattled chief of staff. He and Corbin Trent, her communications director, had gone to Capitol Hill determined to wage their confrontational brand of progressive politics forged as leaders of Justice Democrats, a group dedicated to unseating entrenched Democratic lawmakers through primary campaigns. Justice Democrats helped Ms. Ocasio-Cortez sweep to power with the defeat of a veteran House Democrat, Joseph Crowley.

But less than a year later, after a bruising skirmish this summer with Democratic leadership, both are calling it quits, they told The Intercept on Friday. Their departures will be seen as Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s most tangible peace offering since her private meeting last week with Ms. Pelosi.

Mr. Chakrabarti “has decided to leave the office of Representative Ocasio-Cortez to work with New Consensus to further develop plans for a Green New Deal,” Mr. Trent told The Intercept, referring to the congresswoman’s ambitious climate change program. “We are extraordinarily grateful for his service to advance a bold agenda and improve the lives of the people in” New York’s 14th District."

The New Consensus is a liberal nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and promoting the Green New Deal. Mr. Trent will return to working on Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign.

Mr. Chakrabarti, intent on continuing his anti-establishment movement from inside the halls of power, had rankled lawmakers and aides on Capitol Hill after he posted on Twitter his support for liberal candidates trying to topple sitting Democrats and his disdain for Ms. Pelosi’s legislative prowess. His challenges to elected leaders were considered in Congress to be remarkable breaches of protocol from an unelected aide.

His position became untenable last month after he compared moderate Democrats who sank a liberal emergency border aid package to “new Southern Democrats.” They “certainly seem hell bent to do to black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s,” he tweeted.

He later deleted the post, but the damage was done. In an extraordinary effort to crack down on the chief of staff, Democratic leaders leveraged the House Democratic Caucus’s official Twitter account to resurrect a tweet by Mr. Chakrabarti that said that he believed Representative Sharice Davids of Kansas, one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress, was enabling a “racist system” in voting for a weaker border aid package.

“Who is this guy and why is he explicitly singling out a Native American woman of color?” House Democratic leaders asked on Twitter. Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, privately implored Ms. Ocasio-Cortez to fire Mr. Chakrabarti to wipe the slate clean.

AOC refining her approach to better align with Pelosi, if we are to believe the above news item. A politician maneuvering to gain favor. Par for the course. Those that expected otherwise from AOC -- if these reports are to be taken at face value -- will be disappointed. Or perhaps, in denial.

thank you stickdog

so amusing to me that the president is actually named Individual 1 in a criminal complaint for federal campaign-finance-related charges

and is a member of an international criminal organization

but someone has to go after the congresswoman who, in a photo is being choked by a #Moscowmitch supporter

.

They're not mutually exclusive. Do we have only 1 stone available for throwing?

Trump is performing quite well in his role as distractionary-in-chief. He is not the source of our ills, but one of many symptoms, yet he successfully distracts many away from facing this reality.

Clearly, we are an ill society. Trump is [one of] the inevitable result[s].

Both parties are clearly diseased. Neither will offer a remedy for our ills, though many continue to insist otherwise.

In any event, this OP is about AOC, not Trump, though it's natural -- consistent with the activities in other threads -- for Trump to be mentioned here. He pervades this forum like an infestation.

Somewhat ironic (though an expected tendency of human nature) the one that appears to loathe him the most is the primary actor in splaying his name across this board.

Someone should actually tweet her and ask if it's a miscommunication. My first reading was that she means, WW3 advocate Bolton is fired and the corporate media headline it in this stupid away. My second reading is that I don't the fuck know whether she means that, or the thing you think she means (the thing I would have probably thought if the tweet was from Pelosi).

EDIT

Okay, she settled it as follows:

Obviously Bolton leaving is good - it was an enormous mistake to appoint him in the first place. One doesn’t need to boost authoritarians to make the point.
https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1171900140912820224

In his ramble to the press the day after firing Bolton, Trump did actually say Kim had been right about Bolton, thus "siding with" Kim. So technically, she's right, but her priorities here suck. Trump's diss targeted one of a handful of people who are worse than him -- although, never forget, Trump hired Bolton knowing exactly what Bolton is. I found his "Kim was right" comment hilarious, to be honest. She shouldn't have made this into an issue.

Also, all these people should think more and use Twitter less.
