having watched 'the irishman' a few times, some questions:

scorsese lets it slip about a third of the way in, but isn't this film an allegory? with the irishman in question not necessarily frank sheerhan, but jfk?

doesn't this make sheerhan, an unreliable narrator at best, into a stylized representation of a lone gunman?

i'm asking this given the widely disputed fact that sheerhan didn't single-handedly kill joey gallo that night at umberto's clam house, with all that implies.

i'm not sure if 'the irishman' is a good film, but it's a flawless one for this particular moment. it carries within it a crushing sense of guilt, and i'm pretty sure this is a cinematic act of contrition which scorsese is performing on behalf of an entire generation. that in itself is a bold move.
