You too. Its weird hearing people use that phrase "Stay Safe." these days.

This time last year we were using it all the time during those fires on the East Coast of Australia. Every time we'd take leave of other firies it was the last thing we'd say to each other. Everyone did it. It was like the first time someone said it to you you'd get infected, like a virus. And you could not doubt people's sincerity when they said it. We all had close calls so we all meant it.

Its bizarre that its become a normal greeting.

I was actually listening to this song when I heard the news about what happened in Nashville. Weird hey.

All the best for the new year. Take care, stay safe, find some good somewhere.

May the times get better as the days get longer -- or shorter, in Australia.

December 26 2020 is Zartosht no diso, a day commemorating the death of Zoroaster. How Zoroaster died varies depending on who is telling the story. Some say he was murdered, some say he was struck by lightning, others say he died in his sleep.

Even the tradition that he was murdered has different interpretations, similar to when the qu'ran refers to the death of Jesus by saying, "They killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them.”

Differing interpretations. Death by lightning could also mean 'brought to life' by sudden light.

To say 'the stars take revenge on those who meddle with fate' is another way of saying that the stars reward those who free them from slavery to dark superstitions. It all depends on how you look at it.

Depends how you look at it. Could also mean he slowed his metabolism by some means, to appear dead. Then the body is smuggled out of the tomb during the night. Or simply that appearances can be deceiving.

But I think my favorite anecdote for this time of year is the story about Ben Franklin almost electrocuting himself while trying to cook a turkey, two hundred and seventy years ago.

(In a letter dated 25 December 1750, Franklin describes his attempt to electrocute a turkey, which didn’t work out as he had intended) “I have lately made an experiment in electricity that I desire never to repeat. Two nights ago, being about to kill a turkey by the shock from two large glass jars, containing as much electrical fire as forty common phials, I inadvertently took the whole through my own arms and body, by receiving the fire from the united top wires with one hand, while the other held a chain connected with the outsides of both jars.”

Onlookers report a bright flash accompanied by a loud crack. Franklin vibrated violently, then was knocked unconscious.

A rough count, around twenty-five members posted so far in December.

But I think that if we're judging significance, in this case it's more a matter of quality over quantity.
