Indeed. Read some of their blogs. Many of them are total dupes. You could con them pretty easily.

When I say work I mean I've had one screenplay picked up for no money by a very minor production company and have a few friends in the lower-chains or film-making.

What I find interesting in the moment is that it seems 'liberal' or 'anti-war' films are becoming viable in the marketplace - films like Syriana and Lord Of War. Whilst Lord of War's politics are simplistic it ends with text saying that the biggest arms dealers - rather than Nick Cages character - are the main members of the UN security council.

Now - compared to the jingoistic Republican based action films of the 80's I can only see this as a positive thing.

But - to take it from a 'mind war' perspective - how are these films made and what is their purpose? Are they simply a few crumbs for anti-war and liberal viewers to make them feel that the mainstream media is bi-partisan and unbiased? Or do they represent a deeper fucntion or purpose with rival factions utilising mind war and the entertainment industry for their own ends? Or has the movie industry simply realised there is a market for movie with liberal sentiments and are producing them for simply commerical purposes?

I honestly don't know.

Quentin, films like Syriana are Bob Baer inspired limited hangout and gatekeeping. They're designed to be edgy without really going anywhere serious parapolitically. True, the movie is somewhat different than See No Evil (and see the director's comments about how mysterious Baer is) but not in any way that matters, and anything involving that guy is immediately suspect. See, e.g., Chaim Kupferberg's article on There's something about Omar: Truth Lies, and the Legend of 9-11.

www.globalresearch.ca/articles/KUP310A.html

Baer is a key figure of disinformation in my estimation. He isn't the only one. I think Ray McGovern, Larry Johnson, Milt Bearden, Jim Bamford, etc. are presently postured in a sort of heroic left wing posture of speaking truth to power on Iraq that's totally contrived.

Alot of it ties in to a sort of pseudo progressive sentiment in Hollywood. Iraq is bad, but 9-11 was really the hijackers. (Arianna Huffington's blog I suspect was formed, in part, to nourish this type of sentiment, peer pressure, and gatekeeping among progressives.)

Edited by: NewKid at: 3/20/06 3:50 pm

This one got lost in the quick shuffle with QQ. Hugh, Do you have an opinion on this?

Hugh, Aquino in Mindwar talks about the atmospheric electromagnetic activity, air ionization, and extremely low frequency waves as being part of what can induce minds to be more or less receptive to ideas. And of course, that was in 1980.

Alex Constantine has written extensively on electromagnetic assault on individiuals as a form of testing and/or harrassment, but I don't recall that he argued it was being implemented on a society wide basis.

To what extent do you think this is present in modern society?

Hugh, I agree that there's something weird about Nick Cage being in a shit load of films that seem to have some sort of psyop/social messaging in them.

A tenet of the religion of technology which is also military doctrine is-
'That which can be done, will be.'

I have no doubt that efforts to use anything they can on a population without announcing it is going on just as MKUltra and bioweapon testing was/is used on unsuspecting Americans.

But by Aquino's linking unheard of technologies with the almost 100 year-old techonology of propaganda, people are distracted by the woo woo of sci-fi toys and lose sight of the total immersion MindWar that defines our pop culture and 'news.'

Cartman could kick L. Interesting.

The article is about a high level scientologist who used to obsessively post rambling, disruptive posts on an anti-scientology newsgroup. Really good story in there. Here is the moment of truth, when Norwegian Andreas Heldal-Lund (anti-scientologist) and Bezazian (former rabid scientologist) converse after Heldal-Lund had kindly given advice to Bezazian about her online posting style. From the lermanet link DE posted:

Quote:
Writing in the first person plural as if she were a group of Scientologists, Bezazian asked Heldal-Lund on July 14 to explain how he could maintain such a horrific Website. "What is your actual goal?" she asked.

"This is like asking for my meaning of life," the Norwegian responded. "I care when I see injustices. I don't like lies and fraud. I'm especially sensitive to lies and deceit that few oppose because there is a threat connected to doing so. I saw this when I investigated [the Church of Scientology.] I'm not saying...that all scientologists are bad...I believe they are good people with the best intentions....But they are (in my opinion) misguided and wasting their good efforts and time..."

Bezazian realized that everything Heldal-Lund was saying in this and several other early messages in their correspondence -- about his belief in openness, free speech and the search for truth -- were the tenets that she believed had always been at the core of her own being. Instead, Bezazian says, she admitted to herself that she'd been living very differently, encouraged by Scientology to lie continually. To lie to others about how well Hubbard's tech was helping her life, to lie about how much she was enjoying herself on OT VII, to ignore the truth about the excesses and inconsistencies of an organization she'd belonged to for so long.

She knows now that spending weeks debating critics on a.r.s. had prepared her for this moment. The arguments she encountered there -- about the Lisa McPherson case, the raids in Europe, about the high price of reaching OT levels and dozens of other topics -- had increasingly rung true for her. "It was like the critics were beginning to poke holes in the walls of my Truman Show," she says. "Sunshine was starting to pour inside."

She uses another analogy: For 30 years she had constructed her life like a skyscraper made of playing cards. Participating on a.r.s. had yanked away so many cards that only one remained holding up her entire belief system.

And then Andreas Heldal-Lund gave that card a pull.

"In the long run I believe that my ethical acts towards [Scientologists] might have some small positive effect," Heldal-Lund wrote on July 17, responding to Magoo's query about why he seemed so much more polite than some other church critics. "I don't believe in single acts saving anybody, it's the sum of many that do the trick," he added, writing that he had occasionally received e-mails from former church members who thanked him for his efforts to provide well-researched information critical of the church.

-snip-

"Andreas telling me to believe in myself -- that's what changed my life," she says.
