The Dreadlock Recollections (Kerry Thornley)

Postby brownzeroed » Mon Jun 25, 2007 8:07 am

Found this (PDF) via OVO
This was kind of a thing of legend in my youth and finally had a chance to read it.
LINK TO DREADLOCK RECOLLECTIONS HERE
From OVO introduction: "Never before published autobiography of Kerry Wendell Thornley. A chilling confession to murderous mind control and knowing satire of what paranoid people sound like. 240 pages."

For those not familiar with Thornley,
Wiki Entry HERE
excerpt:
"Kerry Wendell Thornley (April 17, 1938 - November 28, 1998) is perhaps best-known as the co-founder (along with childhood friend Greg Hill) of Discordianism. In this context he is usually known as Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst, a name he derived from Omar Khayyám. He and Hill authored the religion's seminal text 'Principia Discordia, or, how I found Goddess, and what I did to her when I found her'."
{snip}
"Thornley had served for a short time in the same radar operator unit as Lee Harvey Oswald in the spring of 1959 at MCAS El Toro in Santa Ana, California. Both men had shared a common interest in society, culture, literature and politics, and whenever duty placed them together, had discussed such topics as George Orwell's famous novel Nineteen Eighty-Four and the philosophy of Marxism, particularly Oswald's interest in the latter."
{snip}
"In late 1962, Thornley completed The Idle Warriors, the only book written about Lee Harvey Oswald before Kennedy's assassination in 1963. Due to the serendipitous nature of Thornley's choice of literary subject matter, he was called to testify before the Warren Commission in Washington DC on May 18, 1964. The Commission subpoenaed a copy of the book and stored it in the National Archives. In 1965, Thornley published another book titled Oswald, generally defending the "Oswald-as-lone-assassin" conclusion of the Warren Commission, which met with dismal sales. In his later years, Thornley became convinced that Oswald had in truth been a CIA asset whose purpose was to ferret out suspected Communist sympathizers serving in the Corps."

Just curious if others have read it. What are your thoughts?

Sounds very interesting. This:

Oswald had in truth been a CIA asset whose purpose was to ferret out suspected Communist sympathizers serving in the Corps

is most certainly true. It's interesting the parallels with 9/11. Yes, there's forensic evidence and even the U.S. congress examined tapes and heard four shots and not 3...but Oswald's background is such a huge smoking gun if you'll pardon the metaphor.

And this background of Discordianism is also very interesting. I get the feeling that the Discordians were not just a joke but I'll be damned if I can figure what that's all about. I got an email from someone (sorry I can't remember who at present...but I'll try to dig it up if someone wants) tracing a lot of the 9/11 truth movements less likely conspiracy theories to the Discordians.

YES! I hear a lot of folk talk about Jim Garrison on this site but most fail to remember that it was a check from one Clay (Shaw) "Bertrand" that started the ball rolling.

And this background of Discordianism is also very interesting. I get the feeling that the Discordians were not just a joke but I'll be damned if I can figure what that's all about. Yeah, DE, definitely read it. I thinks it's right up your alley. If even a kernal of it is true, damn interesting stuff.
and
ON EDIT: Most of the popular "conspiracy theories" seem to be cribbed from the punchlines of both Discordia and Robert Anton Wilson.

Here's a vid a Thornley on "A Current Affair" back in the 80's:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYTbrLB1v5Q

Note: the program misrepresents Thornley as an "extreme right winger". At this point of his life, and from the early seventies on, he was an anarchist. At the time of Kennedys assassination he would describe himself as a "Disciple of Ayn Rand" -ian libertarian. Nit picky, I know, but I think the "gaffe" was intentional to discredit him at the time of broadcast.

Discordianism?

Postby Fat Lady Singing » Mon Jun 25, 2007 11:07 am

Hi all: It has always seemed to me that Discordianism is basically about culture jamming, as I understand it. I had a grasp of its intentions before I'd even heard the term "culture jamming." It would not surprise me at all to learn that it had been co-opted or infiltrated by intelligence agencies.

I admire a lot of culture jamming activities and think they're a great way to poke a stick in the soft white underbelly of the right-wing scheme machine, as Rachel Maddow used to say on her Air America show. But I can see how jamming can easily be used for a particular purpose, with the jammers themselves perhaps unwitting.

The 9-11 example Dream's End gives doesn't sound at all far-fetched to me. I remember a few years ago becoming interested in this Montauk-related tale about "Ong's Hat" that seemed to be taken seriously in various parapolitical circles. I set about trying to uncover what was at the bottom of it (doing a lot of Googling and who-is-ing and cross-checking). I felt I came to a rather solid conclusion some days later that a Discordian was behind it and that it was all an elaborate culture jam and reality-subverting game to that person.

Interestingly, the person seemed to be using the "Ong's Hat" activity as part of his C.V. on a site that pitched such activities as a commercial enterprise. I found it confusing then; now, I wonder--perhaps agencies actually hire "consultants" to do this kind of work and this person was simply advertising his services. Who knows? Maybe there really are people getting paid to stir up trouble on message boards like this one!

Here ya go, Philip A.

This is the text from a reader with the handle "Charles Wallace". Extra credit if you get the reference. It's a personal experience he had that ties in with all this:
Did you know when you wrote that, that the hologram theory was started by a
Discordian? (note from DE...some guys came on my blog and insisted that they had proof that only high energy beams from space could have downed the WTC. I asked, tongue in cheek (I thought) if they were Discordians.)

I first came across the hologram theory here:
http://www.questionsquestions.net/WTC/webfairy.html
"Webfairy's Reign of Error"

WF seems to have a bunch of sites now, but: http://www.thewebfairy.com/911/

I had actually met WF a year before 9/11, on a web security forum grc.com.
A guy named Keith Little (PCHelp) had written a negative review of an
antivirus program called Lockdown2000, and was being sued by the makers of
LD2K. I had just gotten interested in computer security, and had found his
review - which resulted in some personal threats from the makers, which led
to Little doing some more investigation into them (PCHelp's investigation is
here, btw:
http://www.pc-help.org/www.nwinternet.c ... index.html ).
Right after I found it, the lawsuit was announced, and an ad hoc group
formed at grc to "Help PCHelp", I was part of the group - one of my first
online interactions - but the group was essentially by two forum friends,
The Webfairy and Abu Jamal. I did a LOT of research into LD2K and the
principals, my first in depth research, and my 1st exposure to multi-level
marketing, and there was a TON of weirdness, including former FBI agents
promoting LD2K... Anyway...

The Webfairy was a Discordian, obvious through many refs to Eris, and she
would claim she could "poof lies and nonsense" with her "magic wand". Abu
Jamal was a Muslim, who owns muslimamerica.net, and was a frequent poster on
Muslim NGs. AJ started giving legal advice, and when questioned, said he
wasn't a lawyer, but had studied law (while in jail); and eventually
disclosed that he had served as judge for his religion's capital court.

This raised only a few eyebrows - since a "capital crime" usu refers to
'being punishable by death'. AJ never clarified when pressed on this
point. Within a week, AJ had viciously stabbed WF in the back, kicking her
out of the group, and proceded to exercise a weird cult-like control over
the dozen or so core members of the group (there were only 2 vocal
dissenters in the forum wondering WTF was going on), eventually making
statements about the PCHelpers being the "chosen ones" and weird crap like
that. I stayed around lurking because I was fascinated, but terrified at
how quickly this took hold. Fortunately, I was moving shortly after this -
I took a leave & never looked back.

However, I felt sorry for what happened to the Webfairy. Googling her years
later, I found the "Reign of Error" link above. I also found this: a short
story by T Casey Brennan called Conjurella: The Last Witch -
http://pweb.netcom.com/~mthorn/thewitch.htm<http://pweb.netcom.com/%7Emthorn/thewitch.htm>.
Brennan is a comic book writer from the 70s (Vampirella) -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._Casey_Brennan - and claims that he shot JFK
as a MK-ULTRA ( see http://tcasey.inri.net/ ). The Last Witch is the story
of Brennan meeting the Webfairy. (Sidebar - Brennan also claimed to be the
reincarnaton of Aleister Crowley...)

Up until finding those links, the whole incident was just another weird
surreal event in my life. After, it seemed decidedly weird that the
principals were (what I can only describe as) an extremist Muslim and a
Discordian who would later go on to loudly promote one of the most
ridiculous 9/11 "truth" claims, who was also associated with a purported
MK-ULTRA survivor.

(Add into the mix that GRC was run by a Steve Gibson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Gibson who told the forum around this
time that he was consulting for the FBI. From the Wiki page - "Gibson has
generated controversy by taking unusual positions on security and other
technical issues, and for doing so with a demeanor often perceived as
self-aggrandizing." A page well worth reading http://www.grcsucks.com/ "Gibson
is masterful at stirring up an emotional response in the people who come to
his site, and then manipulating these people into believing exactly what he
wants them to. The tragedy is that these people come to him looking for
facts and information, and come away thinking that they have found some! Gibson
tries to present himself as a selfless source of public information, yet his
entire site is full of emotional manipulation, misinformation, and
misdirection." Which somehow resonates, and is part of the reason I'm
sharing this with you...)

Unfortunately, all the forums this activity occured on back in 2000 are
completely gone from the GRC site :( So I had thought "all the evidence had
been wiped". But I recently came across two links that at least confirm
AJ's presence on GRC wrt pchelp:
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/anti-virus/g ... 68413.asp("Check
out grc.security.software and you will see abujamal FLOODING the group by
cross posting the same garbage that destroyed the pc-help group. I don't
know what his problem is but from what I've seen he's done more harm than
good in these groups.")
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/527921/posts ("Beware like all
TROLLS he has many aliases but he is easy to spot from his email addresses
and the propoganda he spreads. He claims the only hope for America is Islam
and that if you insult him that you should be careful his more militant
brothers do not get to hear of it from him. Do a little research on him with
the above search criteria and you will turn up alsorts of fundamentalist and
radical activist crap, screaming for jihad and many more of his cut and
paste ramblings posted to enflame and poke a reaction.")

{Non-essential reading - just documenting the remaining evidence:
The PChelpers pages are down, but:
http://web.archive.org/web/200201260616 ... lpers.org/
This is the page of reviews & links I (mostly) wrote & researched for them:
http://web.archive.org/web/200110191624 ... views.html
That was when I realized that ome companies would set up a bunch of sock
puppets to leave positive reviews of their products...}

Breaking news - I never looked into Keith Little's past, but while writing
this, I found that there had been shortly before all this a Keith Little,
posting as 'whippersnapper', a Scientologist engaging in online debate with
the critics of CoS.
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.reli ... ca62ad6429

Not sure if it is the same, but I am looking into it...

Anyway - it was extremely weird - that an extremist mulsim and a discordian
(& future 9/11 disinformer) were involved in this online MK cult on the site
of the FBI's phony IT guru... As far as I know, I am the only one who's
pulled all this together...

Howdy. I wouldn't be surprised either. It's probably safe to think in these terms regarding anything within the realm of Pop Culture. Not to mention the everyday, run-of-the-mill "snake oil" salesmen that seem to feed off of conspiracy culture, itself. Which I think greatly outnumber the odd spook or two (just a guess here). I don't think intelligence agencies have to do very much to confuse the situation. We seems to let our Egos do most of the work. And frauds don't really mind where their funding/exposure comes from and probably wouldn't even bother to ask. As for discordianism, I would say your average hack writer or circus barker will draw from any material that already exists (satire or not) and run with it. Then occasionally 'the deep ones", as I like to call them, give a push here or a pull there and whamo!: The picture is fuzzy.

I do think "Culture Jamming" does sometimes serve as a fantastic tool for de-programming. If it weren't for DADA, discordianism, R.A.W. and the Church of the Sub-genius I wouldn't even be here.

One of the MANY THINGS I gathered from this book was the surprisingly simple execution of covering their tracks. In the book "brother in law" talks about gathering a virtual kaleidoscope of Kennedy-haters and just gets them to shoot their mouth off about a "hypothetical" assassination and maybe add a small task or two to carry out. When the event actually happens, EVERYONE in some way feels complicit. So when some one comes nosing around, one of these guys will freak out and do away with the "problem". "Brother in Law" and the gang don't even have to budge a muscle. It's a perpetual motion machine of hush-up put into action by a few well placed meetings and conversations. If this is true, it is frightening brilliant. Serious, nefarious jujitsu.

I do think we should be looking at 9-11 in the same terms. Some spooks. A loose (maybe) unwitting confederation of operatives and then a wealth of frauds, shysters and circus Barkers. Then maybe a handful of goons at the controls. Probably fellas whose names we will never even know. And I think Dick Cheney (the face man) is actually playing a smaller role than one would like to think. I think he's LBJ part II; greed, avarice and a willing "unknowingness" of the complete picture. Walking "Ids" don't usually run the show. They just provide the muscle. Definitely willing to partake in a crime or two.

And then there's the whole mind-control angle of the book...
Jeesh. I hope someone else reads this.

Hey, is there any way I can call you something less derogatory than "Fat Lady"? :D
Maybe Voluptuous Lass?

Hey DE. Your post above looks as though it could go both ways. Intentional Disinformation or a prank too far. Like the Luther Blissett Enigma meets Islamo-phobia. When it comes to a group that finds it's role in life to destroy personal identity and common notions of reality it makes them kind of hard to pin down. :D

That's easy for you to say. I'm still getting over my fear of Rick Moranis and my desire for Molson Ice.

My apologies. It isn't fair to put all the blame on Ric Moranis. After all, he is only the key master. And when I catch a glimpse of his shadow within my reflection on the glass, I will tell him the same. My bad.

Sorry. I came to the conclusion that no one was going to read the book anyhoo. Or maybe read a few pages then draw from a few past conclusions and move on. Or worse, take it only at face value. No biggie. Just figured I'd entertain myself in the mean time. I'm done now.

The Specticle - not unlike improperly prescribed Cialis - seems to be permanent.

Look where it got Guy Debord. His whole life’s work inadvertently provided legitimacy to Pol Pot. No joke there. Just irony.
