Ted Kennedy has passed

Has anyone mentioned that during Kennedy's tenure as senator we saw a consistent erosion of the middle class, virtual criminalization of labor unions, reversal of progressive income taxes, and a startling increase in military spending?

Just wondered.
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.

Joe Hillshoist wrote:In comes the captain's daughter, the captain of the Yeos,
Saying, "Brave United man, we'll ne'er again be foes.
A thousand pounds I'll give you, and fly from home with thee
And dress myself in man's attire, and fight for liberty!"
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

"I want no gold, my maiden fair, to fly from home with thee;
Your shining eyes will be my prize - more dear then gold to me.
I want no gold to nerve my arm to do a true man's part
To free my land I'd gladly give the red drops from my heart."
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

And when we left our cabins, boys, we left with right good will,
To see our friends and neighbours that were at Vinegar Hill!
A young man from our ranks, a cannon he let go;
He slapt it into Lord Mountjoy - a tyrant he laid low!
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

We bravely fought and conquered at Ross, and Wexford town;
And, if we failed to keep them, 'twas drink that brought us down.
We had no drink beside us on Tubberneering's day,
Depending on the long bright pike, and well it worked its way!
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

They came into the country our blood to waste and spill;
But let them weep for Wexford, and think of Oulart Hill!
'Twas drink that still betrayed us - of them we had no fear;
For every man could do his part like Forth and Shelmalier!
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst the twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

My curse upon all drinking! It made our hearts full sore:
For bravery won each battle, but drink lost ever more.
And if, for want of leaders, we lost at Vinegar Hill,
We're ready for another fight, and love our country still!
We are the boys of Wexford, who fought with heart and hand
To burst in twain the galling chain, and free our native land!

(For SLAD)

Thank you ever so much, thanks for the smile

so - what do you think of Cutler's scenario?

Mmm...sounds like alot of speculation and wild conjecture.
Is Cutler's theory possible? Sure.

Is it plausible?

Well if all things being equal, I'm going to lean towards something a little more ground in reality, such as an intoxicated alcoholic leaving a party, driving too fast on an unlit road, rolling the vehicle off the bridge and then panicking when he realized that his passenger was dead or dying.

There are holes and contradictions in his story, for sure, but those are usually indicative of someone lying to keep their ass out of a sling, as opposed to some subversive plot by a dark, clandestine faction within the Government.

if there is a conflict, basing your reaction to enemy-benefiting events on an Occam's razor analysis is sure to fail.

let's stay with the obscure, yet very pertinent to the history, to the present, good/evil

There is a place on the east
Mysterious ring, a Magical Ring of Stones
The druids have lived there once they said,
forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

Rum de rum 'rud a derimo
Rum de rum 'rud a derimo

The circled tomb of a different age
Secret lines carved on ancient stone.
Heroic Kings laid down to rest
Forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

Wait for the sun on a winter's day
and a beam of light shines across the floor.
Mysterious ring, a Magical Ring.
But forgotten is the race that no-one knows.

The Megalithic passage tomb at Newgrange Ireland, is over 5000 years old & part of the Boyne Valley necropolis, which also encompasses the Knowth & Dowth prehistoric sites.
The exact use & original purpose of the astronomically aligned Passage Tombs of Ireland has long been debated between traditional archaeologists & those who see a deeper significance to the stone structures.
Most people who have stood in the centre of a Ring Fort or close to ancient standing stones will understand the tranquility and feeling of Oneness with the Universe which such a casual encounter with our Celtic past can evoke.
The Irish megalithic passage Tombs at Boyne Valley, Co. Meath, including Newgrange, Knowth & Dowth, were constructed circa 3500 BC, before the Pyramids of Egypt, according to radio-carbon dating analysis of the Newgrange site.

At Newgrange, Sunlight during the December Winter Solstice illuminates the inner passage & Chamber annually. Similarly in the Egyptian Pyramids, the ceremonial inner sanctum was aligned with the Pole star & constellations.
During 1999 a Canadian scientist discovered a prehistoric map of the moon's surface engraved on stone within the inner chamber at Knowth, It was part of a rock carving which was highlighted by the nocturnal lunar light. BBC Science Report.
There are also similarities in the construction of Irish passage tombs & the later pyramids of Egypt, in particular the Egyptian pyramid at Abu Simel.
At both locations, astronomical alignments play a key role in the significance of the structures. Many believe the Ancient Stone Sites are/were charged with an energy or power.

Occult Means Hidden: I don't think T.K. actually accomplished anything other than being a bogus symbol for conservatives to rally against. Would anyone care to disagree?

IanEye: When you ask me that question I'm going to revert to my ethnic heritage and answer your question with a question. Have Workers seized control of Industry yet?

When I was a child, I ate my share of ‘WIC’ meals.
Later on in life, I delivered many ‘Meals on Wheels’.

If you aren’t familiar with Ted Kennedy’s involvement in either program, perhaps you should do some research.
If you are familiar with Ted Kennedy’s involvement in these programs, and chose to make your snide comment anyway, perhaps you should shut the fuck up.

Then I guess this means you disagree? Okay.

Any way you cut it, T.K. had to play the system. If you believe T.K. was aware of the conspiracy to kill his brothers, then you would have to admit that his actions since then have been carefully calculated to not arouse the same fate for himself. How could any man make any change of any kind under that kind of watchful eye? At the same time, how could he not be guilty? Each day he lived without speaking out. Without providing or compiling evidence? 9/11? CIA drug running? Anything?

Ianeye I will go so far as to say that T.K. did little for meals on wheels or WIC. He didn't create it. He advocated for federal money and voted against cutbacks. So what?

Universal healthcare was his life's cause? Elect someone passionate and they will go
on hunger strike and refuse to leave the senate chamber until universal healthcare is passed. You know, something someone does with passion ala MLK, Ghandi or Mother Theresa, other than just TALK really nice words often.

There is a senator with a liberal streak in the senate now who had nothing but criticism for GW Bush and voted the same way as T.K. nearly all the time. Who is this godsend? Rockefeller wouldn't be touched with a 10 foot pole by anyone on this board.

While efforts to achieve universal health care reform were impeded, Rockefeller seized the momentum and began to focus on an incremental approach - starting with our children. Working with a bipartisan coalition, Rockefeller played a leading role in creating the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in 1997, which has given millions of America's low-income children - including tens of thousands in West Virginia - the chance to start out healthy in life. - via his website.

I'm sure even Strom Thurmond or Dick Cheney did some "nice" things too. Voted to give funding for a good cause, maybe voted to prevent funding cutbacks for a good cause. Funding? Voting? So what?

Also his brothers being "good guys" for the fact that they were assassinated by the elite, doesn't = good guy for him, or hell, even for his brothers. Maybe the Kennedys were going to spill the beans on the CIA? On the fake cold war? On Aliens? Pick your religion.

I know you all really want to believe in Camelot. I do too.
Rage against the ever vicious downward spiral.

Wait, are you saying that, as far as you're concerned, Ted Kennedy was more or less/somehow the same as Dick Cheney?
