Yeah, the Bushies were good at that. And the media was in 100% lapdog mode.

How many people now think that torture is acceptable in "certain" cases?

Worth repeating-

ultramegagenius wrote:this is like the million dollar jackpot for the Manatee, i almost wonder if somethin' isn't up. i once accused him of over relying on SEO and unfairly extrapolating it to the decades preceding the digital revolution. now we've come full circle, and the whole business is regurgitating itself through the process of total digitization.

as we are in the midst of a thoroughgoing (top-down) deconstruction, it's only fair that we get at the genealogy of this so-called SEO thing. when Hugh first put a spot light on it, it was called semantic/lexical priming. in the interest of maintaining a legitimate genealogy of power, i'd favor maintaining the original designation over the re-branded "SEO." as Hugh originally described it, the whole thing has been a pretty head-on, no holds barred attempt to re-engineer the very way people encounter any new-to-them concepts coming over the horizon.

i don't know if the Manatee was a prophet, or someone forcing square, digital pegs through round, analogue holes, but this key word hijacking/semantic priming thing is going to be with us for a very long time, if this Beck nonsense is any indication.

I'm glad I followed the link.

Because I thought this was just going to be a conventional plagiarism story. Kind of how most of these trade-market paperback bricks get done. Especially those by celebrities who aren't actually writers but have an Inc. after their names.

But it's much better than that. Which you should have told us. Jack Henderson, the author of Circumference of Darkness, bad 2005 novel about how 9/11 was an false-flag job by fascist teabaggers (before they were called that) who must be stopped by a nerdy anti-authoritarian conspiracy theorist, is the presumably well-compensated and acknowledged GHOSTWRITER of Overton Window, bad 2010 novel about how 9/11 was a false-flag job by liberal one-worlders who must be stopped by a nerdy anti-authoritarian teabagger.

ON EDIT: By the way, if you self-publish, can't you pick a better cover than that?

I just read this thread. And I thought it's title referred to the analysis, not the decoy. DOH!

Obviously, the spooks who write Beck's material realize that many people, not just this board, have figured out that CIA-Fox is used to make the other CIA-media look acceptable by comparison using...the Overton Window technique.

So they hijacked the keywords and mass-marketed them, the most common counterpropaganda device in CIA-media.

The 9/11 misdirection is just gravy on this fecal biscuit served up by The Magician's Other Hand.

And the now the window moves to introduce the term nuking in polite dinner conversation. I am interested that nuking a leaking oil well, far below the surface, is not exactly unlike nuking a deeply buried research center.

The latest character name added to CIA-Disney's 'Tinkerbell' psyops is...
"Beck."

No kidding.

http://dfairies.wikia.com/wiki/Beck

Beck is an animal talent Fairy. She is very sweet to animals of all sorts, just like every Animal Talent Fairy. She is pretty much the only Animal Talent Fairy that checks on Mother Dove all the time. Beck loves animals so much that she even wants to be an animal herself. She spends more time with animals than fairies. Beck is the only one who can speak Bird without an accent — and she can read the thoughts of any animal.

Beck and The Great Berry Battle

Beck has a talent for talking to animals, but that may not be enough when she tries to mediate a war between the hummingbirds and the chipmunks. When her funny little hummingbird friend, Twitter, tells her that war has broken out, she thinks that he is exaggerating--he is always alarmed about something. Soon the blackberries start flying. Fairies are getting caught in the crossfire. It is up to Beck to get to the bottom of things. Only she can bring peace back to Pixie Hollow.

Glenn Beck's New Frontier

Postby IanEye » Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:30 am

Glenn Beck Hawking Survivalist Disaster Kits

If you ever find yourself in a post-nuclear holocaust environment and come across people eating beef stroganoff, odds are they'll be Glenn Beck fans.

You may have heard about Beck's relationship with Goldline International, which urges people to buy gold and stay safe from the supposed inevitable devaluing of the dollar.

Now meet Food Insurance, which sells survival kits of freeze-dried food and other items to help people live from two weeks to 12 months, depending on the plan purchased (and post-apocalyptic conditions).

Beck has promoted the company's products, is featured prominently on the company's website, and a banner ad for the company, bearing Beck's image, was spotted on his website Monday.

_ _ _

Eye've discovered that it's easier to get into the mind of Glenn Beck if you listen to "The Nightfly" album while reading the Wall Street Journal.

SEO is much more rooted in actual behavior than linguistics theory. I've done a lot of SEO work myself and currently ghostwrite for an SEO blogger -- seriously, 95% of the shit Hugh talks about would get a "Huh?" out of these people. The field is mostly very automated and shaped by the medium of Google, which remains the King Kong Undisputed Champion of the long-forgotten Search Engine Wars. Even very talented and diligent full-time SEO consultants are basically just using Google Analytics and Google's Keyword Suggestion tool in order to have their content place higher on Google.

Come to think of it, the way SEO heads obsess over small announcements from Google is pretty much exactly like the economics and Real Estate folks hang on every word coming from the Federal Reserve.

SEO is putting title and alt tags in all your images, packing your metadata with relevant keywords, careful copywriting and formatting links right -- in other words, mostly very mundane shitwork that's utterly removed from the theoretical foundations of KWH. I absolutely think the greatest service Hugh has done is bringing that material to our attention, but I want to point out as someone who's been actively involved in the SEO field for a little over 4 years now...it's got very little to do with what Hugh is talking about.

Although it is an applied science, it's primarily shaped by mass behavior, not individual cognition. The SEO field is beholden to a single algorithm owned and maintained in relative secrecy by a single corporation. Google is more important to the field than sociology or linguistics. Most people working in the field use tools that totally automate the processes that actually apply to what Hugh is talking about, specifically keyword selection and ranking.

Yes, but wouldn't you agree that using the term "The Overton Window" as the title of your new book is a way to hijack the term itself? Especially considering the author is someone famous/infamous?

It may not be technically an SEO device, but it ends up functioning as one. Hell, it probably functions way better than an actual successful SEO
