I can only tell you what works for me: once a week, I get together with a bunch of same-sex friends, we rotate among our homes, we pig out shamelessly, we laugh, we talk about whatever is going on in our lives, sometimes we watch a movie. Everybody's welcome, it's very fluid. Sometimes there are as few as three of us, sometimes we're thirty.

I've noticed that no matter what's going on in my head, or my anxiety level before these get-togethers, I'm thoroughly energized and optimistic afterwards.

the fear

Postby mother » Wed May 17, 2006 10:55 am

I have St. Michael the Archangel. Plus, since having the kids, the maternal instinct is in full bloom. The dread is replaced by some sort of determination? Not that I am immune to being freaked out! And I don't blame anyone for bugging out on these difficult issues, either.

Fighting the fear

Postby Sarutama » Wed May 17, 2006 11:05 am

I'm not at all a religous or spiritual person, so the prayer, meditation, etc are not neccessarily my cup of tea.

But when all the craziness starts getting to me, I just try to do something fun. Last summer a group of friends (myself included) started a kickball league (we're all almost 30 by the way). Once a week we would forget all responsibilites and just have flat out fun. Works wonders.

And I don't know what your feelings are on the subject but pot works wonders.

Quote:
Prof: Is there an official "white lodge" with a history, etc. or is this something you've created yourself. this stuff is meant to make us scared. fear feeds the matrix and the power structure.
___________________________________________
"BUSHCO aren't incompetent...they are COMPLICIT."

Is it possible you're all over-refining here?

Quote:
Typically I'll only feel it after I've read a lot of articles about the phenomenon, I'm alone and it's night time.

I'd suggest that what's being described is just the typical reaction to reading spooky stories alone late at night. Some people actually enjoy that feeling. As it says in the Introduction to Frankenstein, Mary Shelley was trying to write a story "which would speak to the mysterious fears of our nature, and awaken thrilling horror -- one to make the reader dread to look round, to curdle the blood, and quicken the beatings of the heart."

So if you kind of enjoy having the mysterious fears of your nature spoken to -- but don't like getting to the dread-to-look-round stage -- you save the high weirdness for high noon. That simple.

The fear...

Sarutama. My feelings on pot: Happy medicine made illegal (therefore cannot think of risking my children's security) Serious, unjust consequences enforced by evil warlocks who hate for anybody to be happy.

Quote:
thoughtographer---

I don't see why placing one's hopes in a benevolent supreme being (or Supreme Being?) can't at least merit equal consideration alongside these other ideas.

You can't be serious. Did you actually read the post to which I was responding? Fanatical, borderline hateful "ONLY WAY" bullshit, followed by a ton of scare tactics and a URL pointing to a propaganda website as a closer. That has little if anything at all to do with a benevolent supreme being, if you ask me. It's pretty comical to see someone swoop in with a response like that on a thread entitled "The fear...". He's VULNERABLE! LET'S GO GET HIM!

Respectable "fishers of men" don't rely on stocked ponds. I think all options merit equal consideration -- especially options that beget hope. I don't see much hope in the same old proselytizing game.

Quote:
And I don't know what your feelings are on the subject but pot works wonders.

I think that's good advice for those so inclined, but should be issued with a note of caution; "the fear" is what a lot of cannabis users call the overwhelming paranoia they occasionally feel as a result of indiscriminate use during times of psychic duress. Set and setting, blah blah.
"A crooked stick will cast a crooked shadow."
Edited by: thoughtographer at: 5/17/06 12:18 pm

There are several sites with free downloadable gymnastics vids, very beautiful dance and music in the floor exercises.

Some sites for short vids - about 2 minutes playing time, if you have dial-up 15 to 20 minutes right-click, target, chose file on hard drive and download. A little bit longer for the montages.

gymnnetwork.castledell.com
www.bestlaidplans.org/gymnastics/
www.gymoholic.tk/
www.ShanFan.com

Longer videos for those with broadband at TigersMilk and the Gymnastics Hub.

And...
