I don't recall hearing about this incident ...

Greenville Wal-Mart Shooter Picked Victims By Race
September 25, 2013 8:50 AM

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A man who shot four people near a Greenville Wal-Mart in June picked out his victims because they were white, according to several indictments handed down against him.

Lakim Faust had more than 100 rounds of ammunition when he started shooting at people at a law firm and a shopping center in June, authorities said.

A grand jury indicted Faust on 14 charges Monday, including four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Faust, who is black, picked out his victims based on their race, according to the indictments. The documents didn’t specify why Faust wanted to shoot white people, and police have not talked about why he picked out his targets.

Police said Faust’s first victim on June 21 was an insurance adjustor in the parking lot of a law firm. He then crossed a five-lane highway and shot three more people in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart, investigators said.

Three of the four people wounded in the shooting suffered permanent and debilitating injuries, according to the indictments. Details of those injuries were not specified.

Faust, 23, was shot by police. He recovered and is now in jail.

Police seized computers and documents from Faust’s home that showed he had a plan for the attack and wanted to shoot a large number of people, investigators said.

Columbia Mall Shooter Obsessed With Columbine, Mass Murder

UPDATED: 7:26 a.m. March 13, 2014

MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — The Columbia Mall gunman appeared obsessed with mass murder and may have fixated on the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, dressing like one of the shooters and timing his attack so that it occurred about the same time of day as the Colorado massacre, police said Wednesday.

Howard County Police Chief William J. McMahon said during a news conference that investigators found no indication that 19-year-old Darion Aguilar knew the two people — 21-year-old Brianna Benlolo and 25-year-old Tyler Johnson — he killed Jan. 25 at The Mall in Columbia. Aguilar killed himself soon after the shootings.

Investigators found thousands of searches on Aguilar’s computer related to mass murder, school shootings, guns and explosives. Aguilar showed “a particular fascination with the Columbine shooting,” McMahon said.

He also looked up websites for people with mental health problems, and he told a doctor he was hearing voices in the months before the shooting.

Several pieces of information led police to believe Aguilar may have had a fixation with the shooting at Columbine, where two students killed 12 classmates and a teacher and wounded 26 others before killing themselves in the school’s library. Police believe Aguilar may have waited inside the mall for over 40 minutes in order to begin his shooting about the same time that the Columbine massacre started. He also downloaded a video game based on the Columbine killing, though it’s not clear if he played it, McMahon said.

Just before he emerged from the dressing room of the Zumiez skateboarding and snowboarding store to begin the shooting, Aguilar took a picture of himself in the mirror and posted it to the social media website Tumblr. Some of way he is dressed, wearing a white T-shirt, boots and cargo pants with his shotgun in a sling around him, is reminiscent of one of the Columbine killers, McMahon said.

McMahon says Aguilar legally purchased a shotgun from a Rockville store on Dec. 10. He returned to the same store between Dec. 10 and Dec. 24 to buy ammunition. He bought additional ammunition at Bass Pro Shop at Arundel Mills Mall on Dec. 28.

The police timeline of the morning of the shooting, Jan. 25, is as follows:

5:15 a.m. Aguilar leaves his home in College Park
6:19 a.m. Visits a PNC bank in Beltsville
7:31 a.m. Boards a Washington area Metro bus (bus route ended in Burtonsville)
9:50 a.m. Gets a cab from a Burtonsville McDonald’s
10:10 a.m. Dropped off at Columbia Mall
10:16 a.m. Enters the mall near the carousel
10:18 a.m. Goes downstairs via escalator near the food court
11:01 a.m. Enters the Zumiez skate store
11:14 a.m. Takes photo of himself with assembled gun in Zumiez dressing room, uploads it to (now-deactivated) Tumblr account with this text:

“I had to do this. Today is the day. On previous days I tried this I woke up with anxiety, regret and hope for a better future this day I didn’t, I woke up felt no emotions no empathy no sympathy. I will have freedom or maybe not. I could care less.”

McMahon said investigators believe Aguilar took the picture to gain notoriety and intended for police to find it and show it to the public.

“We’re not going to help him have that notoriety,” McMahon said.

Police did release a different picture Aguilar took of himself holding the shotgun he used in the shooting, a picture believed to have been taken in his bedroom.

McMahon also talked about what has been described as Aguilar’s “journal.” McMahon said what police discovered was about 20 handwritten loose-leaf pages in roughly chronological order. In a portion police released, Aguilar makes an angry, expletive-laced statement in which he anticipates the killings in “a couple of hours.”

“Everything seems fake. I think that I may already be dead,” he wrote.

At another point in the papers, he acknowledged he needed to see a psychiatrist, McMahon said.

Aguilar told a doctor in April that he was hearing voices, but they were “nonviolent and nonspecific,” the chief said. The doctor referred him to a psychiatrist, but police could not find that Aguilar ever met with one. McMahon said the doctor told police he later followed up with Aguilar’s mother, but she does not remember the conversation.

A review of Aguilar’s Internet searches found visits to mental health sites, including ones for people considering suicide.

“He knows he’s sick. He knows he has problems that need to be addressed. He writes it in his journal. He writes in his journal he’s not comfortable talking to his mother about it,” McMahon said, adding that there was no indication he ever spoke with anyone about his concerns.

Police said they released more information about the case in an effort to bring closure for the community, including the families of Aguilar’s victims, 21-year-old Brianna Benlolo and 25-year-old Tyler Johnson. They were both Zumiez employees.

Benlolo was mother to a young son and Johnson was the youngest board member of a Columbia-based non-profit Twelve Step fellowship center who planned to get a degree in counseling.

Memorial funds have been established for both of them. Brianna’s has been set up as a trust to provide for her son’s future health, education, support and maintenance. Contributions can be made at any Wells Fargo branch by referencing the Brianna Benlolo Memorial Fund or can be made by mailing a check to: The Brianna Benlolo Memorial Fund, P.O Box 1353, Lynnwood, WA 98046.

The Tyler Johnson Memorial Fund will benefit the Community Foundation of Howard County. Donations can be made care of The Tyler Johnson Memorial Fund, 10630 Little Patuxent Parkway, Century Plaza, Suite 315, Columbia, MD 21044 and online.

McMahon said the investigation is continuing, though no new significant information is expected.

THE NATION THAT CRIED LONE WOLF: A DATA-DRIVEN ANALYSIS OF INDIVIDUAL TERRORISTS IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE 9/11

...

ABSTRACT: Lone-wolf terrorist attacks have occurred in the United States throughout the country’s history. Attempted attacks
from individual terrorists unaffiliated with terrorist groups may be becoming more prevalent. Both the general public
and government officials acknowledge the presence and importance of these attacks; however, relatively little
literature exists on the subject compared to group terrorism. Much of the information on lone wolves has been
established by case study, inference, and known characteristics of group terrorism. The purpose of this study is to
analyze the characteristics of lone-wolf terrorism through formal statistical models. The study then synthesizes data
with case study and existing literature to formulate a base of knowledge for lone-wolf terrorism.
This study demonstrates that no single dispositional profile of a lone-wolf terrorist exists. The individuals
who engage in the tactic of lone-wolf terrorism form a unique ideology that combines personal grievances with
common terrorist goals. Still, many lone-wolf cases exhibit certain characteristics. This thesis analyzes these
characteristics and their relationship with successful attacks. These data on characteristics, goals, and motivations of
lone wolves purport policies to increase engagement between the community and curb lone-wolf terrorism and its
effects.

Has this been posted yet? We had another shooting here in Seatown on Thursday.

http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2023778865_spushootingxml.html
1 dead, others hurt in shooting at Seattle Pacific University before student tackles gunman

One student is dead and at least two others were wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon at Seattle Pacific University. The bail hearing for the suspected shooter is scheduled at 1:30 today.

A Seattle Pacific University (SPU) student tackled a gunman who was reloading his shotgun after killing one student and wounding two others inside a campus hall Thursday afternoon.

The shooting unleashed a wave of terror across the school as it went into lockdown and students scrambled for cover.

The suspect was identified by a law-enforcement source as Aaron Ybarra, 26, of Mountlake Terrace.

Police on Thursday night were questioning the suspect. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder, police said. The bail hearing for Ybarra is scheduled at 1:30 today.

No motive was immediately given for the shooting. The suspect carried extra shotgun shells, and also a knife, police said.

A law enforcement source said Friday that Ybarra planned a mass shooting and to kill as many people as possible, then kill himself.

King County Jail Interim Director William Hayes said Friday that Ybarra is being housed in a solitary cell on the seventh floor of the jail. The seventh floor is where the jail houses closely-monitored mentally-ill inmates.

“He was hellbent on a killing a lot of people today,” said a different second law-enforcement source briefed on the investigation.

Jon Meis, a student working as a building monitor, pepper-sprayed the shooter as he stopped to reload, then put him in a chokehold and took him to the ground, according to police and a friend who spoke with Meis after the shooting. Then other students and faculty members rushed to hold the shooter down until police arrived.

But until it was clear that only one shooter was responsible, students barricaded themselves, pulled blinds and waited for word that they were safe. Medics were forced to wait outside until police were sure there was no more danger.

“It was super-terrifying,” SPU sophomore Kharis Lund said of the fear and uncertainty that swept through the campus. “There were a lot of people crying and calling their parents.”

The gunman — wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, skater sneakers and jeans, witnesses said — walked into the foyer of Otto Miller Hall shortly before 3:30 p.m. and shot three people, said Seattle police Capt. Chris Fowler.

When Meis saw the shooter reloading, he saw an opportunity to stop the attack, said Ryan Salgado, Meis’ roommate for the past four years. Salgado said his friend seemed to be in shock after the shooting.

Shotgun shells littered the floor of the foyer, which was sealed off with police tape.

One of the victims, 19-year-old Paul Lee of Portland, was taken in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Another, 20-year-old Sarah Williams, was in critical, but stable condition on Friday morning. She underwent a 5-hour surgery Thursday evening.

Student Chris Howard, 22, was in the machine shop when a friend ran in with blood on his neck and yelled, “Close the door behind me!”

Howard got a first-aid kit and put gauze on the friend’s wound. Then he went outside and saw the young woman prone on the ground, her chest covered in blood, being helped by another woman. He put the injured woman’s head on his lap.

Howard said the victim asked to talk with her family. “She thought she was going to die,” he said.

Howard took her phone and dialed the contacts for “mom” and “aunt.” All he got was voice mail.

The other victim, 24-year-old Thomas Fowler Jr., remains in satisfactory condition on Friday.

Seattle police officers were at the Ybarra house in Mountlake Terrace on Thursday night.

Ybarra has had a few minor encounters with police in the past — for drunken driving and operating a vehicle without insurance — but he’s never been arrested for anything violent.

“It makes no sense at all,’’ said Zack McKinley, who described himself as one of Ybarra’s closest friends. “He’s super happy and friendly. He’s an awesome guy, someone who would never let you down.”

McKinley said Ybarra had gotten a new job a few weeks ago, bagging groceries and cleaning up the store. After struggling with a minor reading disability, he was happy to have the job and tried to work as many hours as he could.

Ybarra didn’t do drugs and he didn’t drink, McKinley said. When they went out to celebrate his new job, Ybarra ordered a Dr Pepper, McKinley said.

Ybarra spent his time writing screenplays and novels, mostly adventure stories. Ybarra could get emotionally low, but McKinley said he had a good group of friends and never saw him depressed.

“I’m really good at deciphering if someone’s got bad news or in trouble. I’m blown away by this,’’ he said. “He called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to go fishing.”

On his Facebook page, Ybarra “Liked” a page devoted to “guns and snipers.”

His friend, McKinley, though, said he never talked about guns, and was much more enthusiastic about fishing.

McKinley said he would visit his friend in jail. “Just because somebody does something crazy like that it doesn’t mean you give up on them.”

Edmonds Community College President Jean Hernandez said Friday morning that Ybarra was a former student.

“All of us in higher education grieve together when an event such as this occurs on a college campus,” Hernandez said in a statement. “The fact that the shooter was a former student at our college brings it even closer to home.

“I have reached out to SPU president Daniel Martin since hearing the news and have offered my condolences and any assistance we can provide,” Hernandez said.

News that his son Aaron was the alleged shooter seemed to send the suspect’s father, Ambrose Ybarra, reeling.

“We don’t know anything,’’ he said. “We just hope he’s safe. I’m a family man. I just need to put my arms around my family now. We just need to sit down and talk.”

Ybarra said, “It’s upsetting to have these accusations thrown around. We’re in emergency mode. We are trying to stay calm.”

“Day of tragedy ... loss”

The shooting occurred on the second-to-last day of classes at the Free Methodist school on the north end of Queen Anne Hill, where there are 4,270 undergraduate and graduate students.

A prayer service was held Thursday evening at the campus church.

At the scene, a somber Mayor Ed Murray said: “Today should have been a day of celebration at the end of the school year here at Seattle Pacific University. Instead, it’s a day of tragedy and of loss. Once again, the epidemic of gun violence has come to Seattle, an epidemic of gun violence that has haunted this nation.”

He thanked first responders, students and staff.

“Friends, we have been here before: Café Racer, the shootings on Capitol Hill, the shootings at the Jewish Federation,” Murray said. “This is a tragic moment for Seattle, a tragic moment for America once again. Our prayers and our thoughts are with the families, and with the entire family of the Seattle Pacific University community.”

A prayer service is to be held at noon at the First Free Methodist Church alongside campus. Classes have been canceled.

SPU President Daniel J. Martin said the emergency-response system that was activated when the shooting occurred has been in operation for several years.

“Certainly, I think that Virginia Tech heightened the awareness of all campuses to be prepared for an event like this to occur,” he said of the 2007 shooting in which a gunman killed 32 people before taking his own life.

Martin said that students and faculty members have drills in case a shooting occurs, and cited those drills as one reason the shooter was apprehended and first responders arrived so quickly.

The students who helped apprehend the suspect “acted without regard to their own safety on behalf of others,” Martin said near Otto Miller Hall.

“We are a community and we care for others,” Martin said. “Those that were involved did just that.”

Classes were canceled for the rest of Thursday evening and Friday.

“Lockdown” in red

SPU students inside and near Otto Miller Hall heard the first blasts.

Blake Oliveira, 21, was in his physics class. “I heard a loud bang. At first I thought it was a chemistry project. My teacher thought that, too. Then I put my head to the door and I heard shouting. I decided, that was a gunshot, we need to lockdown,” said Oliveira.

After the door was locked and the blinds closed, Oliveira and another student grabbed a couple of metal cylinders they found in the classroom.

In case somebody broke in, they were planning to use the pipes to defend fellow students, no matter what risk to them.

“The Bible tells you that to die for their brothers is the greatest thing a man can do,” said Oliveira.

After some tense minutes, said Oliveira, two Seattle police officers with shotguns walked in from a door to an adjoining classroom, and told the students to leave, “Right now.”

Oliveira took off his sandals so he could run faster. He stepped in a pool of blood on the way out. The students ended up at a bus stop nearby. They formed a circle and prayed.

Michaela Stewart said the classroom clock emitted a “loud, obnoxious beep” and flashed the word “Lockdown” in red letters.

Her teacher locked the door, and they closed the blinds and turned off the lights. Her teacher told them to carry on, but they started hearing noises from the hall.

“We could hear screaming and moaning in the hallway right outside our door for quite a few minutes,’’ she said.

Some students began to pray. Stewart texted her family, telling them she was OK.

Stewart was unclear how much time passed, but said it seemed like about three minutes later when they were evacuated from the classroom.

“That’s when we saw blood on the carpet, and a guy in handcuffs, completely knocked out on the floor.”

The man was face down, she said, and appeared to be unconscious.

Text: I’ve been shot

Elsewhere across campus, students and faculty said they heard sirens and received a mass-emergency notice via text.

“Emergency! A campus lockdown has been initiated. This is not a drill,” the text said.

Tom Lane, who works in the School of Business and Economics, said he got an email and text notification of the lockdown at 3:28 p.m. — right around the time he heard emergency vehicles responding to the scene. At his office across the street and a couple buildings away, the three workers on his floor closed the blinds, locked the doors and gathered in the hallway.

SPU student Gloris Jones, 20, was walking from Otto Miller Hall with her mother, Mary Jones, who is visiting from Michigan.

Gloris Jones received a text message from a friend who said he had been shot. She sent back five or six messages to the SPU senior, but he didn’t reply.

“I don’t even know where he is,” Gloris Jones said as she hugged her mother. “And you want to make sure he’s OK.”

Lund, 19, said she was in her dorm room at Emerson Hall when she heard sirens.

“We thought that’s a lot of sirens, just for something in the neighborhood,” Lund said.

Next, she got a mass text from the school reporting the campus was on lockdown, it was not a drill and that a shooter was on campus.

Lund said she and several other people in the room locked the doors, closed the blinds and got on the floor.

The group in the room remained cautious until they heard a media report that the shooter was apprehended.

Lund said her room is a short distance from Otto Miller Hall and on the same street. But she did not see what happened, she said.

Gunshots next door

SPU student Jordan Heff was in class when he heard gunshots coming from a classroom next door.

“I was in physics and people heard a loud bang — we thought it was a science experiment. We heard crying and yelling outside our door. We walked out and there were bloodstains all over the carpet.”

Max Osgood, a 19-year-old freshman from Anchorage, Alaska, said he and about 25 other students were in a physics class when they heard “something that sounded like a door slam or a desk fall over.”

“And then we heard a lot of screaming that someone had been shot,” Osgood said.

When a classmate poked his head out of the classroom’s door, Osgood said, a voice from the hallway screamed, “Shut the door and lock it!”

For the next four to five minutes, Osgood and his classmates — with the doors locked and blinds pulled shut — listened to muffled screams and moans emanating from the hallway.

“We could hear people yelling about bleeding, stuff like that,” he said.

Finally, there was a bang from a backdoor well. Some classmates screamed. A couple of armed Seattle cops burst through the door, leading the frightened class out of the building. Osgood and other students caught glimpses of the shooting scene as they went.

A bloodied girl was being loaded onto a stretcher. Carpeting was splattered in blood. And two police officers were holding down a man with black hair.

“He wasn’t moving at all,” Osgood said. “ ... in handcuffs, with a couple of cops kneeling on his back.”

The students were led across the street and into another building, where they were kept in lockdown for at least 45 minutes, Osgood added.

“It’s pretty rattling,” Osgood said. “And then on top of that, all of this happened right outside of the classroom. It was very scary. A lot of people were freaking out. It’s just really weird. You never think anything like this will happen to you — especially after the shooting that happened at UCSB a couple weeks ago. It’s just bizarre.”

As soon as he could, Osgood said, he called his parents, his brother and his close friends in Alaska to let them know he was safe.

“I made sure I was the first to let them know what happened, so that they didn’t see it on Twitter or something.”

Crime is rare in the SPU area. Over the past four years, Seattle police recorded 14 violent crimes, slightly more than three incidents a year: seven threats, six assaults and one robbery. Of the 252 incidents in the area, about 90 percent were property crimes — car prowls, auto thefts and bike thefts, police records show.

While no Seattle public schools are directly near SPU, buses returned students to some schools because drivers were are unable to get to their homes or after-school programs due to police road closures. Those schools were identified as Blaine, Queen Anne, Coe and John Hay schools.

After a delay, school buses were reloaded and students were taken home.

Lawton Elementary in Magnolia was designated as a shelter-in-place as a precaution.

Staff reporters Steve Miletich, Christine Clarridge, Mike Baker, Paige Cornwell, Jennifer Sullivan, Claudia Rowe, Hal Bernton, Linda Shaw, Lewis Kamb, Erin Heffernan, Colleen Wright, Susan Kelleher, Erik Lacitis, Janet I. Hi PW ... not in detail. Just upthread I posted a link to Loren Coleman's post about it but it's not gotten its own thread yet.

These incidents are just coming way too fast, one after the other ... which of course is the second biggest part of the problem with the copycat effect - the horror of one incident seems to trigger subsequent incidents. Now it just seems like they are everywhere all the time and I fear the phenomena could just go completely bonkers any day now.

It's almost like the b-movies STARSHIP INVASIONS (1977) and GOD TOLD ME TO (1976) where aliens or some demonic force has flipped a switch and like John Keel mused in his 1970 book Why UFOs - Operation Trojan Horse:

THIS BOOK IS A WARNING

Suppose the plan is to process millions of people and at some future date trigger those minds at one time? Would we suddenly have a world of saints or a world of armed maniacs shooting at one another from bell towers?

Yeah, coming way too fast. Apparently there was another one here the next day, but I can't find a news account of it.

There were warning signs all over this one:

SEATTLE (AP) — In 2010, Aaron Ybarra called 911 to report "a rage inside him" and said he wanted to hurt himself and others, according to a police report of the incident.

Two years later, officers responded again — this time finding him lying in the middle of the street in front of his suburban Mountlake Terrace home, ranting drunkenly for a SWAT team "to get him and make him famous."

The rage and thirst for notoriety may have got the better of him Thursday, when police say he stormed into a sciences and engineering building on the leafy campus of Seattle Pacific University, armed with a shotgun and more than 50 shells.

He fatally shot a 19-year-old freshman and wounded two other young people before his plan to kill as many people as possible — and himself — was thwarted by a student building monitor who pepper-sprayed and tackled him as he reloaded, officials said.

A King County Superior Court judge ordered Ybarra, 26, held without bail Friday. His attorney, public defender Ramona Brandes, said he was on suicide watch at the jail.

"He is cognizant of the suffering of the victims and their families and the entire Seattle Pacific community," she said. "He is sorry."

In both of the earlier contacts with police, officers committed Ybarra involuntarily to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds for mental evaluations. Brandes said he has a long history of mental health problems for which he had been treated and medicated.

"We are so very shocked and sad over yesterday's shootings at SPU," Ybarra's family said in a statement. "We are crushed at the amount of pain caused to so many people. To the victims and their families, our prayers are with you."

At the time of the 2010 commitment, Ybarra worked at the Kenmore Shooting Range north of Seattle. From 2003 to about three and a half years ago, he worked as a 'trapper' keeping score on practice shoots, according to range president John Conderman, who said he did not know Ybarra personally but recognized his picture in news accounts.

"This is so disappointing," Conderman said. "We spend all of our energy trying to teach young people about responsible gun use."

Tyson Winter, who worked at a now-shuttered sandwich shop in Edmonds in the middle of last decade, said Ybarra frequently came by and attempted to befriend the high-school age workers, inviting them to go drinking and shooting. Ybarra began leaving Winter rambling phone messages about guns, and then asked Winter why he didn't call back, Winter said.

Eventually, Ybarra was asked to stay away from the shop.

"He was socially awkward but he wasn't shy at all. He wanted to befriend us," Winter said.

It remained unclear why the private Christian university was targeted. Ybarra wasn't a student there, police said.

Three killed, suspects commit suicide after Las Vegas shooting spree

Published time: June 08, 2014

Two Las Vegas police officers and a civilian have been reportedly killed in a shooting spree that started at a pizza restaurant and spilled over to a neighboring Walmart store. Two suspects – a man and a woman – are reportedly down.

The two shooters have committed suicide, according to police. Suspects told shoppers they were part of a "revolution" and wanted a shootout with Metro police force – and had a "suicide pact." Their bodies were found in the back of the store.

Details are yet to emerge, but police sources told Las Vegas Review-Journalthat the two officers were killed by a man and a woman who approached them at the CiCi’s Pizza just before 11:38 am local time.

As the couple was leaving the restaurant, one yelled “This is the start of a revolution!” witnesses report. The shooters stripped the officers of their weapons and ammunition and went into the Walmart at 201 North Nellis.

Inside the Walmart, according to another unconfirmed account, the couple exchanged fire with a citizen who was carrying a concealed gun.

At a news conference at 13:00 deputy Sheriff Kevin McMahill told reporters that the male shooter, described as a tall white man, yelled “everyone get out” before shooting in Wallmart. The man and woman then proceed to the back of the store and “there was some kind of suicide pact,” McMahill said.

It was reported the shooters were carrying bags so a bomb squad was called to the scene. It’s unclear at this time if something was found in the bags.

The emergency dispatcher received a call at 11:50 am claiming an armed men with a rifle and a bullet-proof vest was shooting inside the Walmart. An earlier distress call said that police two officers were down in a pizzeria at Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, where two unidentified assailants reportedly walked up to two policemen and shot them point blank.

The two Metro officers were eating when one person shot one officer in the head while the second person shot the second officer, Channel 8 news reports, citing police sources. Witnesses claim that the suspects took the police officers' gear, saying before they left the restaurant – “tell the police the revolution has begun.”

Police have surrounded the area and ambulances are being summoned to the site. A photographer for News 3 saw three body bags carried out of the store around noon local time on the intersection of North Nellis and Stewart

How many recent events can we link to this one... ?

THE SHOOTERS

The shooters were a married couple thought to be in their late 20s who were new to the Las Vegas Valley, according to a law enforcement official close to the investigation. Police are looking into their links to the white supremacy movement and found swastika symbols during their initial investigation.

Residents of the Bruce Street apartment complex gathered outside the building to talk about the couple whose unit was being searched.

Several neighbors identified the man as Jared, while one called the woman Amanda.

Like many of the neighbors contacted, Krista Koch said she didn’t know the couple’s last names. She described them as “militant.” They talked about planning to kill police officers, “going underground” and not coming out until the time was right to kill.

Brandon Monroe, 22, has lived in the complex for about two weeks. He said the man who lived in the apartment that was being searched often rambled about conspiracy theories. He often wore camouflage or dressed as Peter Pan to work as a Fremont Street Experience street performer. A woman lived with him, Monroe said, but he didn’t see her as often.

They were weird people, Monroe said, adding that he thought the couple used methamphetamine.

The man told Monroe he had been kicked off Cliven Bundy’s ranch 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas while people from throughout the U.S. gathered there in protest of a Bureau of Land Management roundup of Bundy’s cattle.” Jessica Anderson, 27, said. She lived next door.

The NRA Apologizes…or Something
Yesterday, the NRA apologized for saying, "Suck my dick, you faggot" to the gun-brandishing members of Open Carry Texas. The NRA's top lobbyist, Chris Cox, went on NRA radio to say how sorry he was for his terrible words.

Said Cox, "I said the most hurtful word I could think of at that moment and, you know, I didn't mean this in the sense of the word...I didn't mean it in a homophobic way. And I think that doesn't matter, you know? How you mean things doesn't matter. Words have weight and meaning and the word I chose was grotesque and no one deserves to say and hear words like that...My heart's broken and I genuinely am deeply sorry to anyone who's been affected by that term in their life. I'm sorry and I don't deserve or expect your forgiveness, but what I'll ask is that at home, if you're watching this, and you're a young person especially, if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do and don't respond with hatred or anger, because you're just adding more ugliness into the world and again, I'm just so sorry."

Oh, wait. That was actor Jonah Hill on The Tonight Show last night, demonstrating sincere regret for his outburst at a scumsucking bit of worm shit (see? there are other words you can use, Jonah) who followed him around all day, baiting Hill and snapping photos. What Hill did was say he was sorry to the people who needed to hear his mea culpa, and he stood up like a mensch and did so.

Cox, on the other hand, apologized for the NRA issuing a statement that it's "downright weird" that some gun owners want to carry their loaded semi-automatic rifles openly into restaurants, even those that have small children around. The statement, which is still on the NRA's website, also said, "To those who are not acquainted with the dubious practice of using public displays of firearms as a means to draw attention to oneself or one's cause, it can be downright scary." (The statement also attacks the possibility of smart gun technology being required by state governments, so the NRA was never gonna be your new boyfriend.)

The NRA ended its statement hopefully, saying the organization "certainly does not support bans…on carrying firearms in public, including in restaurants. We think people are intelligent enough to resolve these issues in a reasonable way for themselves," which means the NRA has never actually met its members. Because, see, what those members who belong to Open Carry Texas did was cut up their NRA membership cards and declare, no shit, that "If they do not retract their disgusting and disrespectful comments, OCT will have no choice but to withdraw its full support of the NRA and establish relationships with other gun rights organizations that fight for ALL gun rights, instead of just paying them lip service the way the NRA appears to be doing."

Now, the NRA could have said, "Are you fucking pathetic fucknuts that stupid? You understand how bad you're making the rest of us look?" Jesus, it could have started a hashtag: #notallgunowners. It could have taken a stand and stood by its own assertion that "It makes folks who might normally be perfectly open-minded about firearms feel uncomfortable and question the motives of pro-gun advocates."

Nope. Motherfuckers caved like a soda can under an elephant's foot. It was a piece of "commentary," Cox said, not NRA policy (even though it's unsigned and starts, "Here at NRA, we are big fans of responsible behavior").

And, in one of the great pussy statements of all time, Cox said, "The National Rifle Association unapologetically and unflinchingly supports the right of self-defense and what that means is that our members and our supporters have a right to carry a firearm in any place they have a legal right to be. If that means open carry, we support open carry. If it means concealed carry, it means concealed carry. So unequivocally we support open carry, we've been the leader of open carry efforts across this country, the leader in opposing efforts to curtail the ability to carry firearms, and that's something we're proud of and we do every day for our members." Go nuts, assholes, go fuckin' nuts. Head out to the Beef Trough or whatever family restaurant with your guns out like your fly is unzipped.

Needless to say, Open Carry Texas was thrilled. On its Facebook page, it said, "Open Carry Texas would like to both thank and applaud Chris Cox and the National Rifle Association for clarification on their stance of open carry. We remain confident that the NRA will aid with legislative support, to help in getting an open carry bill both drafted, and passed in the 2015 legislative session. With or without support of the NRA, our mission is unchanged: to legalize open carry of modern handguns in Texas and to continue to educate and train Texans in regard to safely carrying firearms openly."

Yeah, that's a helluva goal there. A life well spent.

And, once again, the NRA fails to apologize to the people to whom they owe a never-ending stream of apologies.
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

This story is absolutely wild, for many of the reasons you posted about Elfismiles. Maybe it deserves its own thread.
