Let's make a list of "reputable" conspiracy theorists

Postby Jerky » Fri Sep 02, 2016 1:41 am

I'd like to start the ball rolling with Caleb Oglesby, whose Yankee Cowboy War is still the best analysis of the realpolitik of the American 70's as has ever been written, let alone the achievement of synthesizing the crimes of Watergate Vietnam and the JFK assassination into a single, coherent, and compellingly argued straight narrative.

If we were to create a University of Legit Conspiracy Theorists, who would we find among the most cherished alumni? Living or dead, it doesn't matter. I'd just like to put together a substantial list.

Jim Garrison probably fits. And I know a lot of people around here like Peter Dale Scott's Deep State analysis. Any others?

Cheers!

It's Carl Oglesby, right?

Graeme McQueen is great.

I'm so embarrassed.

Caleb is Carl's son. I'm fortunate enough to have spent a few hours talking to Carl, and to be a friendly acquaintance of Caleb's. I plead late night mindfog.

Thanks for correcting me... and for the addition! Graeme McQueen is a new name to me.

I just find McQueen a very cogent, clear, calm voice in the 9/11 field.

I would say Catherine Austin Fitts. For me, Catherine is one of those people who impacts one more over a 20 minute coffee in an airport, than people one has known for decades.

The "essay as website" http://www.dunwalke.com/ is a masterpiece of clear thinking.

Among the top names I can think of:

Peter Dale Scott, especially in terms of scholarly rigor.
Nafeez Ahmed, especially for research informed by leftist analysis.
Paul Thompson, especially for organizing large research projects where facts and claims are reasonably vetted.
Recluse at Visupview, especially for "putting it all together", where imagination is unbound and intuition is grounded in documented fact.

ON EDIT: Patched up a word error

Yeah Nafeez Ahmed is absolutely essential (and he even wrote for The Guardian for a time!), and Paul Thompson's contribution has been immeasurable (Harper's published The Terror Timeline). Good ones.

Why do you want to salvage this term?

How many of these authors use it themselves, or want to be called by it?

Truth Tellers

leave conspiracy theorist label to bush/cheny ilk

Trump ..now there's a conspiracy theorist
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

Or we could resurrect the term 'investigative journalist.'

Two Gore Vidal quotes:

"I'm not a conspiracy theorist—I'm a conspiracy analyst."

"Apparently, 'conspiracy stuff' is now shorthand for unspeakable truth."

Also: This thread reminds me that I need to check out that anthrax book.

Rosanne Barr? I was trying to come up with a female example and she sprang to mind.
