Thanks, that's good stuff. (And nice of them to preface it with the seizure warning.)

Reminded me how long it's been since I've listened to Led Zep III.

Yes, its really powerful, and I like the fact that you can stop and look up any of the articles that flash up. I've watched it more than several times and it kicked my ass each time. The buildup effect is nice.

Truly Sorry, Jeff....

Postby Floyd Smoots » Tue Feb 14, 2006 12:17 am

....Didn't really want to hijack this thread, so everone can go back to what you all were talking about after you read this. I'm a member of the Led-Zep generation, and I'VE ALWAYS HATED their music, with the one sweet exception "Over the Hills and Far Away". When Robert Plant went out on his own with songs like "Twenty Nine Palms", I was convinced, that WOW, this guy can really SING. But, as Led Zepplin, to me, most of their Crap was true Archie Bunker "Crappola". And, trust me (or not), this was way back in the day when I regularly used Mary Jane, and tried acid.

As a music-lover from the day of my birth, an old-time Rock'n'Roller, Beatles-liker, Steppenwolf-lover, I just think, even now, that Led Zepplin's music, with one more exception, "Stairway to Heaven", really, Really, REALLY SUCKED. So badly, that I would find myself gasping for oxygen when one/most of their really bad songs thankfully ENDED at whatever venue I would find myself at the time.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Floyd de Bloginator

just showed this to an acquaintance..he liked the musical mix a lot; he liked the digital multi-mevidea mix a lot.. he was ambivalent to not favoring the political message/juxtaposition. damn liberal that he is..i may have agreed with him pre-running into R.I.

I LOVE this video! Thank you so much for posting this.

The music and imagery are pitch-perfect for the obscenity that IS the * Administration.

I loved it so much that I cross-posted it at PI and DU (giving you credit, of course) so, naturally, it's being ignored.

Their loss.

Thanks again!

Interesting- or not. I've posted this elsewhere, but have gotten the biggest response here for some reason. I think I know that reason. The video/audio's flavor and amalgamation of different sources and clever blendings are what this place tends to enjoy. This is one of the more condusive venues for its display -my theoretical opinion.

Quote:

The music and imagery are pitch-perfect for the obscenity that IS the * Administration.

I loved it so much that I cross-posted it at PI and DU (giving you credit, of course) so, naturally, it's being ignored.

Their loss.

Thanks again!

You're welcome, Perhaps you would have had a better response if you credited 'Al-CIAda'...he was liked over there by many and had developed many friendly relationships. Obviously managment did not like him so much, so now he is gone....or just post it as something neat you found. Credit is not as important as getting it seen/message out.

Edited by: BannedfromDU at: 2/16/06 12:54 am

cool video!

Nice Link!

Zeppelin really was awesome. I still think of Bonham as rock's greatest drummer, not so much for the technicality as the way he pounded the crap out of the drumkit (you can almost hear the drumsticks cutting the air =).

I understand that Page was very interested in Crowley. Probably here I read a quote from someone along the lines of 'I used to try to find original Crowley-stuff, until Jimmy Page started buying up everything available'. Really makes me wonder about the significance of the LZ symbols like ZoSo, the 3 circles etc... that we doodled on our notebooks back in high school.

Jimmy Page

Postby BajaSur » Thu Feb 16, 2006 11:18 pm

From Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Page

Aleister Crowley

Page had a fascination with the poet, novelist, artist, occultist and founder of Thelema, Aleister Crowley. He pressed Crowley's motto "Do What Thou Wilt" (along with "So Mote Be It" on the reverse side), into their album, Led Zeppelin III, and he bought Crowley's rural retreat, 'Boleskine House'. When their untitled fourth album was released, there were some interpretations of the song "Stairway To Heaven" that claimed it had satanic reverse-audio messages in the verse 'If there's a bustle in your hedgerow'.

Page was commissioned to write the soundtrack music for another Crowley admirer, Kenneth Anger's film Lucifer Rising, but eventually the project was shelved. Bootlegs of the project exist and are highly prized and admired by Jimmy Page fans. The introduction to Led Zeppelin's "In the Evening" is said to be taken from the unfinished soundtrack, most of which was recorded by running a guitar through a synthesizer.

What made people particularly curious about Page's connection with the occult was the appearance of four symbols on the jacket of Led Zeppelin's fourth album. It was generally accepted that the four symbols represented each member of the band. During tours and performances after the release of Led Zeppelin IV, he often had zodiac symbols embroidered on his clothes (those of Capricorn, Scorpio and Cancer which are probably his Sun, Ascendant and Moon signs, respectively) along with the so-called "ZoSo" symbol. This fuelled the curiosity of many fans who went to great lengths to find out what the symbols meant.
