The Storm Is the New Pizzagate — Only Worse

By Paris Martineau

Image
They have a surprisingly decent graphics department over in Crazyland.

A new conspiracy theory called “The Storm” has taken the grimiest parts of the internet by, well, storm. Like Pizzagate, the Storm conspiracy features secret cabals, a child sex-trafficking ring led (in part) by the satanic Democratic Party, and of course, countless logical leaps and paranoid assumptions that fail to hold up under the slightest fact-based scrutiny. However, unlike Pizzagate, the Storm isn’t focused on a single block of shops in D.C., or John Podesta’s emails. It’s much, much bigger than that.

As most terrible things do, this story begins with a post on /pol/, a sub-board of the more-or-less-anonymous, anything-goes website 4chan. Over the last few years, /pol/ — which technically stands for “politically incorrect” — has slowly but surely become a top contender for the ever-coveted title of the most upsetting community online. It’s the sort of place where neo-Nazis and people who believe women shouldn’t have basic human rights used to meet before we started verifying them on Twitter and electing them to public office. And as of late, it’s expanded its ranks to include fringe members of all shapes and sizes.

On October 28, someone calling themselves Q began posting a series of cryptic messages in a /pol/ thread titled “Calm Before the Storm” (assumedly in reference to that creepy Trump quote from early October). Q claimed to be a high-level government insider with Q clearance (hence the name) tasked with posting intel drops — which he, for some reason, called “crumbs” — straight to 4chan in order to covertly inform the public about POTUS’s master plan to stage a countercoup against members of the deep state. It was, in short, absolutely insane. However, thanks to some rather forced coincidences — like Q kind of, sort of guessing that Trump would tweet the word “small” on Small Business Saturday, and this one time the internet decided that Q was “totally on Air Force One” because he posted a blurry picture of some islands while Trump was on his trip to Asia — and a whole heck of a lot of wishful thinking, people believed he was the real deal.

So he kept talking.

Image

According to Q, Trump was never really involved with Russia, and isn’t actually under investigation by Mueller & Co. On the contrary, Q insists that it’s actually Clinton and Obama who were corrupted by Putin (and are now actually under investigation by Mueller) because they’re obviously just evil, money-hungry globalists who’ll do anything for the highest bidder. (Oh, yeah, and they’re also apparently into raping and killing children, though the crowd is split over whether this is because they’re satanists or just part of some weird blackmail scheme involving the CIA.) Q also claims that Trump, the genius that he is, figured all of this out way back when he was just a measly presidential candidate, and has been pretending to love Putin and/or be involved with Russia ever since as a way to force a third party to investigate these horrors — without drawing the attention of those evil Dems-who-must-not-be-named, of course — because he’s just that selfless of a leader.

Sure, in the wake of Pizzagate’s brief encounter with reality, a lot of changes were made: Reddit shut down the conspiracy’s designated sub, Twitter suspended some of the movement’s most vocal supporters, and the whole thing was debunked time and time again by the press. But it’s more evident now than ever that this was merely a Band-Aid, not a cure. And now, here we are a year later with the same thing. Sure, it’s a bit bigger and a whole lot less focused, but at its core, it’s the same. What is there even left to try?

The correct answer in a free society: nothing. Let them worship their sparkly chimera while reality slowly chips away at their bullshit. If they break the law in response, you prosecute. If they don't, to quote Bill Hicks, "Come on. The guy's real name is Vernon. Let him be Jesus for a couple months. What's it to ya?"
"Huey Long once said, “Fascism will come to America in the name of anti-fascism.” I'm afraid, based on my own experience, that fascism will come to America in the name of national security."

How the alt-right wields and weaponises accusations of paedophilia

If you are confused as to how pictures of a child dressed as a storybook character and a sausage are evidence of paedophilia, you are probably not alone. In 2016, a conspiracy theory that emerged on the controversial – and notably far-right – forum 4Chan went mainstream. “Pizzagate” was the name given to the theory that members of the Democratic Party (most prominently Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager, John Podesta) ran a paedophile ring and engaged in satanic rituals. 4Channers alleged that a Washington DC pizzeria, Comet Ping Pong, was at the centre of the ring and that “cheese pizza” was a code for child porn while “hotdog” was a paedophile code word for “boy” (never mind that it was Teigen and Legend’s daughter dressed as the food item).

Many think Pizzagate ended when the internet’s most famous conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones, apologised for promoting the story a few months after a gunman fired shots inside Comet Ping Pong. In actual fact, the Pizzagate theory has grown exponentially in the last year, expanding into a whole host of accusations known as “#Pedogate”. The hashtag #FollowTheWhiteRabbit collates conspiracy theories surrounding many in the Democratic party, as well as liberal celebrities (and goes some way to explaining why an Alice in Wonderland costume is seen as suspicious). The Daily Dot notes that most who use this hashtag are pro-Trump in their Twitter handles and bios.

Once someone is a target of those who “follow the White Rabbit” (i.e. go down a rabbit hole into perceived truths), it is remarkably easy for theorists to find “evidence” of their crimes. Crokin, for example, points out that Teigen once made a joke about witchcraft in a magazine. Anderson Cooper, an anchor at one of Trump’s most hated news sources, CNN, was pictured with a cut-out of child star Honey Boo Boo and once posted an Instagram of a gruesome looking teddy bear, so he is clearly “shopping for trafficked children to rape”. Other hashtags that collate this “evidence” include #QAnon (the nickname of a 4Channer who claims to have insider information and posts mysterious questions on the site) and #TheStorm (the idea that a storm of accusations and arrests is incoming).

These theories notably target high-profile figures who are anti-Trump (Teigen was blocked by the president on Twitter in July). In December, actor Tom Hanks expressed – for the first time – “concerns” about Trump’s presidency. A day short of a month later, Crokin shared a tweet about Hanks “listening to people’s cell phone conversations” with a cell phone scanner, adding her own hashtags – #Qanon #followthewhiterabbit #TheStorm – to the tweet.

It is worth noting that many who spread these theories ardently believe them, with some – including Crokin – stating they themselves were victims of child sexual abuse. Some of these conspiracy theorists are clearly trying to fight for the safety of children, and have had some success (in November 2016, #Twittergate exposed accounts sharing child pornography on Twitter). Yet Crokin is a staunch defender of Roy Moore, the Republican who was accused of sexual misconduct by nine women in November 2017, one of whom was allegedly 14 years old at the time of the incident. It is clear, therefore, that online paedophilia accusations are often politically opportunistic.

The most infamous incident of a weaponised paedophilia accusation came when Mike Cernovich, a prominent alt-right social media personality, accused comedian Vic Berger of being at the centre of a paedophile ring. Cernovich and Berger had argued after the latter mocked him in a video, which resulted in Berger’s fans trolling Cernovich. Two of these fans sent Cernovich disturbing messages about his baby – Cernovich then extrapolated that because Berger had interacted with these fans on Twitter a handful of times before, he was friends with paedophiles. Berger received death threats.

Cernovich repeatedly uses accusations of paedophilia to smear the left-wing. When students at Columbia University protested the alt-right personality coming to their campus, a fake banner was planted. The protest sign read “No Mike Cernovich” and also “No pedo bashing”, and featured a logo for the “North American Man/Boy Love Association” (NAMBLA). Conspiracy theorist Paul Joseph Watson – who has been described by many as alt-right, but denies this affiliation in his Twitter bio – tweeted the picture, meaning a lie that the left-wing openly support paedophiles spread. A day later, the person who originally tweeted the photograph revealed it was right-wing counter-protesters who had planted the banner.

Infowars fully embraces “The Storm,” a conspiracy theory called “the new Pizzagate”

Corsi, who was one of the loudest voices spreading the lie that former President Obama wasn’t born in the United States, has a penchant for pushing conspiracy theories, ranging from wild speculation about Obama’s sexual orientation to claiming that Adolf Hitler escaped Germany with the help of Allen Dulles, who would later become the CIA director. Corsi has now written “decode” analyses of the messages “Q” has posted on message boards, reaching unfounded conclusions and assigning meaning to wildly ambiguous claims, breathing new life into the conspiracy theory.

By highlighting Corsi’s “central role” in pushing an insane conspiracy theory, Infowars has once again proven that there are no limits to the outlet's shilling for Trump even if it means championing a conspiracy theory called “the new Pizzagate -- only worse.”

Liz Crokin: Chrissy Teigen’s Attack On Me Was A ‘White Hat False Flag’ Orchestrated By Trump

By Kyle Mantyla | January 8, 2018 11:02 am

Earlier this month, right-wing “journalist” and crackpot conspiracy theorist Liz Crokin wound up in the news after she insinuated that celebrities John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are involved in a Hollywood pedophilia ring. Now, Crokin is suggesting that the entire controversy was orchestrated by President Trump as part of a “white hat false flag” effort aimed at preparing America for a coming wave of arrests of thousands of powerful and influential pedophile satanists.

As we noted before, Crokin believes that an anonymous figure known only as “QAnon” who posts on 4chan forum boards is actually Trump himself and that he has been using this outlet to drop hints about his efforts to crack down on the satanic pedophile ring that runs the world. Crokin and others insist that there are thousands of sealed indictments that are soon to be handed down and that flights containing high-ranking pedophiles who are trying to flee the country before they are arrested are routinely being diverted by government authorities.

Back in December, Teigen and Legend were on a flight to Japan that was returned to Los Angeles after it was reportedly discovered that an unauthorized passenger had been allowed to board. As Crokin told YouTube host Sarah Westall over the weekend, this flight was probably actually diverted back to L.A. because Teigen and Legend were among those under sealed indictment and they were offered a deal in which they were told to attack Crokin on Twitter so as to create news that would help to raise awareness about things like “Pizzagate” in order to prepare Americans for the looming exposure of widespread ritual satanic child sexual abuse.

‘The Storm Is Upon Us’: Jerome Corsi Says 2018 Will Be The Year That Trump Saves The American Republic

By Kyle Mantyla | January 10, 2018 10:41 am

Jerome Corsi, the right-wing “journalist” behind the bogus “Swift Boat” attacks on John Kerry and the equally bogus birther attacks on Barack Obama, now works for Alex Jones’ conspiracy theory website Infowars, where he has recently fully embraced “The Storm.”

“The Storm” is a fringe right-wing conspiracy theory that asserts that an anonymous 8chan forum board poster known only as “QAnon” is actually a high-ranking official within the Trump administration—or possibly even Trump himself—who is slowly leaking out clues about the fact that Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election is really a cover for an effort to prosecute thousands of powerful celebrities, politicians, business executives and members of the “deep state” for being part of a global ring of cannibalistic satanic pedophiles.

Corsi appeared on “The Hagmann Report” earlier this week to explain what he has learned about “The Storm” from following the “breadcrumbs” posted by QAnon and predicted that based on what he has seen so far, 2018 will be the year that President Trump finally saves America.

“The Storm is upon us,” Corsi said. “2018 will be the year of the counterattack that Donald Trump is going to wage against the deep state. This is going to be a battle of enormous proportions which will determine whether or not the American republic as a constitutional republic sustains or does not. Depending upon Donald Trump’s success or failure, we will have a coup d’etat which will replace the Constitution with a globalist, socialist state.”

“This is a battle of classic heroic proportions,” he added, “which is going to be waged on the intelligence front and the average American person would be unaware of it had there not been an entity like QAnon who had come forward from a knowledgeable position to start dropping the clues, the breadcrumbs, as he says, that will lead people to the research they need to do and the understanding they need to achieve to see how our intelligence agencies, our justice system, the FBI have been corrupted and how dangerous this is. The republic is hanging by a thread and it’s now going to be Donald Trump’s unique opportunity to save it and I don’t think there is anybody better that I can think of in the political landscape to be on the scene than Donald Trump.”

Liz Crokin Says Sean Hannity Is ‘Doing As Much As He Can’ To Expose ‘The Storm’

By Jared Holt | January 10, 2018 12:19 pm

Liz Crokin, a pedophilia-obsessed crackpot conspiracy theorist, told viewers of the “SGT Report” that she had “inside information” that Fox News host Sean Hannity has attempted to cover the conspiracy theory known as “The Storm” as much as he can without losing his job.

In an interview uploaded on December 28, Crokin appeared on the SGT Report to discuss the latest developments in “The Storm” conspiracy theory, which asserts that a high-ranking official close to President Trump—or perhaps Trump himself—is leaking information to the anonymous forum board 8chan under the pseudonym “QAnon” and is revealing clues that prove the investigation in suspected Russian interference in the 2016 election is actually a front for a secret effort to prosecute a global pedophile ring that involves thousands of powerful politicians and celebrities.

Crokin claimed that the information was being slowly leaked by “QAnon” so “people don’t freak out” when the news finally breaks and that there is work taking place behind the scenes to inform the public of the impending mass arrests without causing “mass hysteria.” Part of that effort, she implicated, involves Hannity.

“I have a lot of inside information about Sean and Tucker [Carlson] and you know some people are like, ‘Why doesn’t Sean talk about this and he doesn’t talk about pedogate and X, Y and Z?’ Sean has risked his life every single day to expose as much as he can. The man has—I’m shocked he’s still alive. I mean, it’s unbelievable he’s still alive. He has risked his life to expose what he has exposed that no one else in the mainstream media is exposing,” Crokin said. “He almost lost his entire job for just mentioning, I think twice, Seth Rich’s murder.”

Crokin explained that people like Hannity and Carlson would be “immediately fired” if they spent airtime discussing the same pedophilia-obsessed conspiracy theories she does, but said that Hannity has secretly arranged to “bump into” sources “the deep state didn’t approve” while broadcasting live.

“Let me tell you, Sean is—man, that guy has got balls. There have been things that he has been told that he’s not allowed to cover, or there’s been people he’s been told he’s not allowed to interview, and Sean has conveniently, you know, when he’s been, let’s say, live in the field reporting, happened to ‘bump into’ certain people that he wasn’t supposed to interview because the deep state didn’t approve and he still did it.”

Crokin continued, “That man is a hero and he’s got balls and he’s doing as much as he can with the platform he has.”

Hopefully, the "crying wolf" effect will begin to kick in with these increasingly unimpressive, obviously cobbled-together-from-not-much, New Fascist Internationale attempts at psyops.

I'm hoping this means they won't be able to achieve that all important critical mass level of True Believer saturation necessary to be able to attain their nefarious social engineering goals.

Jerome Corsi Has Uncovered Irrefutable Proof Of The Authenticity Of ‘QAnon’

By Kyle Mantyla | January 11, 2018 10:27 am

As we noted yesterday, Jerome Corsi, a right-wing “journalist” for the conspiracy theory website Infowars, has recently dedicated himself to covering “The Storm,” the right-wing conspiracy theory that asserts that President Trump is secretly working to take down a global ring of elite cannibalistic satanic pedophiles.

At the center of “The Storm” is a series of 8chan forum board posts penned by a figure or figures known only as “QAnon,” who many right-wing activists assert is actually a high-ranking official within the Trump administration—or possibly even Trump himself. Last weekend, during an appearance on a YouTube program hosted by Tracy Beanz, Corsi revealed that QAnon had recently confirmed his/her close ties to Trump by posting a photo of what Corsi claimed was a pen resting on Trump’s desk at Camp David.

“That’s the Laurel desk,” Corsi said while discussing the image in question. “It’s the one that Obama used and apparently Trump is also using at Camp David. That’s the desktop at Camp David.”

“The pen is a Montblanc ink pen that Trump has used for a long time,” Corsi continued. “That’s Camp David over the weekend and that picture had to have been taken by somebody who was there with President Trump. His pen on the desk; that pretty much authenticates that QAnon is very close to Donald Trump and present in some of these really important inner circle White House meetings.”

Sean Hannity wades into message board conspiracy theory "The Storm"

On January 9, Fox’s Sean Hannity tweeted from his account that his followers should “watch @wikileaks closely! Tick tock.” The tweet quoted another tweet that claimed that “out of nowhere, Ecuador suddenly offers to mediate a resolution for #JulianAssange,” with the hashtag “#QAnon” added to the post.

Image

#Qanon refers to a sprawling conspiracy theory that originated on online message boards 4chan and 8chan, alleging that President Donald Trump’s cryptic October 2017 comment about the “calm before the storm” was a hint at a master plan Trump is setting in motion to kneecap members of the “deep state.” According to New York magazine, the conspiracy theory, known as “The Storm,” “features secret cabals” and “a child sex-trafficking ring.” Additionally, those who believe in “The Storm” also believe claims that the Steele dossier is fake and “the Las Vegas massacre was most definitely an inside job connected to the Saudi-Clinton cabal.”

Tweeting about #Qanon is not Hannity’s first contact with the fever swamps of far-right message boards. In August, Hannity promoted a conspiracy theory that originated on online message boards that the counter-protesters in Charlottesville, VA, were actually paid actors. Furthermore, in 2016, Hannity made himself the face of the Reddit-nurtured conspiracy theory that late DNC staffer Seth Rich was a Wikileaks source, causing Fox News employees to angrily vent that Hannity was embarrassing the network.

Right Richter: The new conspiracy theory that's bigger than Pizzagate

Here's an example of the clues, which Q insists on calling "crumbs":

Mockingbird
HRC detained, not arrested (yet).
Where is Huma? Follow Huma.
This had nothing to do w/ Russia (yet).
..
Do you believe HRC, Soros, Obamama etc have more power than Trump?
Fantasy.
Whoever controls the office of the Presidecy controls this great land.
...
Why did Soros donate all his money recently?
Why would he place all his funds in a RC?
Mockingbird 10.30.17
God bless fellow Patriots.

It's nonsense! But it's evocative nonsense ripe for the conspiracy-minded. In just a few lines, Q has managed to fit in Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, and the CIA program Operation Mockingbird.

After the crumbs are posted, they're compiled and analyzed by The Storm fans in PDFs like this one.

After months, the conspiracy theory has come to encompass Pizzagate, the Seth Rich murder, the Clinton Foundation, MS-13, and many more right-wing touchstones. Despite The Storm's vastness, though, the message is simple: Trump is pulling off a string of victories over his enemies, but in secret; and everything that looks like it's bad news for Trump is actually, secretly, good news.

Mark Taylor Claims Trump Will Unleash A Wave Of Arrests Of Satanic Pedophiles In February

By Kyle Mantyla | January 12, 2018 12:10 pm

Earlier this week, self-proclaimed “firefighter prophet” and right-wing conspiracy theorist Mark Taylor appeared on the “Faithtalk” program, where he predicted that President Trump has already taken the steps necessary to prepare for a wave of arrests of thousands of satanic pedophiles in the month of February.

Taylor called on “the army of God” to pray that there would be no civil unrest “when they start rounding up these people” so that “divine justice will be served.”

“They’re fixing to, I believe, drop the hammer on a lot of these people and they’re going to start rounding these guys up,” Taylor said. “I think a lot of this stuff, from what I’m hearing in the natural or seeing in the natural—like the military presence, stuff like that—a lot of this stuff is going to start to go down in the month of February. So we’re only a couple of weeks away from when the big stuff might begin to happen. If they do pick the month of February to start rounding people up, that is usually the coldest month of the year for the entire country, so that will keep a lot of people off the streets, if you know what I mean.”

Taylor went on to claim that an executive order that Trump signed last month gives him the power to seize the assets of anyone involved in human rights abuses. This, he said, will be used to target the Clintons, the Obamas and George Soros in order to prevent them from being able to pay groups like Antifa or Black Lives Matters to protest to the wave of arrests.

“He now has the power to go in and seize this money and to grab it,” Taylor said. “So these people like Antifa, Black Lives Matter … these guys are not going to protest if they’re not getting paid, so if the funds are already drying up and they’re already seizing the money, then the money is not going to be there to pay these protesters. So that is one way that God is working behind the scenes to save America.”

Operation Rescue Latches On To ‘The Storm’

By Miranda Blue | January 16, 2018

Over the last few months, a conspiracy theory called “The Storm” has been percolating in the murkiest of right-wing fever swamps. The idea, as Kyle explained last week, is that “an anonymous 8chan forum board poster known only as ‘QAnon’ is actually a high-ranking official within the Trump administration—or possibly even Trump himself—who is slowly leaking out clues” about a conspiracy involving a “global ring of cannibalistic satanic pedophiles.”

You might think this would all be a little off brand for Operation Rescue, the radical anti-abortion protest group, but the group’s senior vice president, Cheryl Sullenger, doesn’t seem to think so. Sullenger has now authored two posts for the group’s website that draw attention to posts by QAnon, while never explicitly endorsing the conspiracy theories surrounding the account.

Earlier this month, Sullenger was delighted to discover that QAnon had posted a message about a reported Justice Department investigation into unproven allegations—which originated in part with Operation Rescue—about Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue donation practices. Even while gently mocking the “conspiracy theorists” who “are having a hay-day thanks to ‘Qanon,’” Sullenger examined the “clues” left in the poster’s message about Planned Parenthood. She tacked on a statement from Operation Rescue president Troy Newman thanking “Q and the Trump Administration” for bringing attention to the issue:

“We are grateful to Q and the Trump Administration for taking the evidence against Planned Parenthood seriously and bringing it to the attention of an audience that may otherwise never have been exposed to the truth. We hope the Qanon exposure helps wake up Americans to the barbarity of abortion,” said Newman. “Planned Parenthood is a corrupt enterprise that makes their money off the backs of dead babies and taxpayers. We urge Congress to defund Planned Parenthood immediately, and are praying for their speedy prosecution.”

Then, today, Sullenger was back with more news from 8chan, reporting that QAnon is urging its followers to unleash a tweet storm to support President Trump’s “Fake News Awards” tomorrow, which Sullenger said she expected will become a “tweet war of Biblical proportions” as “trolls and Trump-bashers” join in. “Whether you believe the Q posts are legitimate intelligence being leaked to the people from the highest levels, or whether you think Q is a LARP (live action role play), it doesn’t really matter,” she concluded, saying that the real victims of the mainstream media are the babies and offering up a few “#FakeNews” memes to share during the tweet storm:

President Trump has announced that on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, he will hold #FakeNewsAwards.

There is expected to be a huge tweet storm about it under several hashtags, including #FakeNews, #FakeNewsAwards, #GreatAwakening, #WeThePeople, and others. Of course, the trolls and Trump-bashers are expected to be out in full force as well.

Those that have been following the #Qanon posts have been asked to create memes that express truths that have been misreported or ignored by the Main Stream Media (MSM) and call them out for their dishonest reporting.

This is supposed to be a tweet war of Biblical proportions with folks joined together in a concerted effort to break through to the masses with the truth about governmental corruption, human trafficking, and even Planned Parenthood. #Qanon mentioned Planned Parenthood on January 7, 2018, saying, “These people are SICK,” which sparked a lot of online interest in Planned Parenthood and its baby parts trafficking scheme.

Whether you are following the #Qanon posts or not really doesn’t matter. Whether you believe the Q posts are legitimate intelligence being leaked to the people from the highest levels, or whether you think Q is a LARP (live action role play), it doesn’t really matter.

Nothing suffers from the MSM pro-abortion Fake News like the pro-life cause. That means babies suffer! Pro-life supporters and viewpoints are maligned and vilified while the MSM repeats all of PP’s lies and practically fund-raises for them with their glowing articles.
