This is brilliant and worth re-reading..........

And see the peaceful trees extend
their myriad leaves in leisured dance—
they bear the weight of sky and cloud
upon the fountain of their veins.

Glad you liked it! I can't really say how the good ones happen, it's really hit or miss. Sometimes I get lucky.

Here's one I was just messing around with. definitely not brilliant or worth re-reading, at all, at all. haha

in graveyard mist my little hunchback
unearthed a perfect artifact
classic clam shell from a great big mac
the styrofoam was all intact

I cleaned it up with a bunny-feather duster
and took it to my claims adjuster
the prettiest case they'd ever seen
all fresh and clean as gasoline

as I'm an evil doctor always strapped for cash
I auctioned it off in a flash
they say nothing sold that fast on ebay
since the magatama of maya fey

I bought some golden stiltskin string
from a friendly burger king
and set to work sewing neat hemlines
around the monster-son of frankenstein

Igor asked, "Where you going with this, master?
This story's turn into disaster!"
"you fool, it was from the very start!
I said, "now be quiet! and give me that heart!"

while Igor wondered what's in store
We opened up the ceiling door
"I see now, master!" he pointed, crying aloud
over howling wind at the blackest cloud
Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.

"If an angel dropped down from the clouds" ~William Blake~

My mother groaned, my father wept
Into the dangerous world I leapt
Helpless, naked, piping loud
Like a fiend hid in a cloud

Struggling in my father's hands
Striving against my swaddling bands
Bound and weary, I thought best
To sulk upon my mother's breast

Wright Brothers Flying

Here for your consideration is an aesthetic picture of A glide with the double-rudder machine moving to the left, north slope of Big Kill Devil Hill. It was created in 1902.

Ode to Ugly Things

God bless ugliness. There is beauty
in every ugly thing. I don’t mean

those eyes and teeth drifted
apart like untethered boats, because they are beautiful.

I mean your sister, third grade,
her braces, each band

a yellow figure-eight, her favorite color,
and trapped between the interstice

of her front incisors, a gleaming broccoli bud.
I mean the beetle, crushed,

its husk
cracked like a walnut, broken shell

sleek as obsidian just cooled.
I mean fluff

of mold on two-week old pita bread, soft
green bloom on the dark back shelf.

I mean soar of the eyetooth,
slam of the door.

I mean blood, however it comes,
always bright and shining.

The ambulance still screaming
its wail life life life!

all its lights spinning.
The car’s plunge

over the rail of the bridge, glint
of sparks from metal wrenched,

sleeve of water opening
for whatever enters it.

Your husband fucking another woman
across town, the room paid in cash,

even there is beauty. See how they rise and fall. See how
in their faces, for a moment, is something like joy.

The Boundaries Of Humanity

WHEN the primeval
All-holy Father
Sows with a tranquil hand
From clouds, as they roll,
Bliss-spreading lightnings
Over the earth,
Then do I kiss the last
Hem of his garment,
While by a childlike awe
Fill'd is my breast.

For with immortals
Ne'er may a mortal
Measure himself.
If he soar upwards
And if he touch
With his forehead the stars,
Nowhere will rest then
His insecure feet,
And with him sport
Tempest and cloud.

Though with firm sinewy
Limbs he may stand
On the enduring
Well-grounded earth,
All he is ever
Able to do,
Is to resemble
The oak or the vine.

Wherein do gods
Differ from mortals?
In that the former
See endless billows
Heaving before them;
Us doth the billow
Lift up and swallow,
So that we perish.

Small is the ring
Enclosing our life,
And whole generations
Link themselves firmly
On to existence's
Chain never-ending.
