Serious red flag, Elvis.

Thanks for posting Toback's article and the video with Applebaum. I completely agree with Toback and believe Sanders is the only candidate able to triumph over Trump. I've always felt Warren to be a bit flakey, but now knowing more of her record, I cannot vote for her; she is a true DINO. Just like Sanders, but different. Applebaum also truthfully relates accurately the rightward shift of the left/right division line over recent decades.

I am certain I'll be voting for Bernie. I wonder if he'll pick AOC for his running mate.

I think he might choose Stacey Abrams
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.

Every mailer, phone call, email I get from Democrats asks me, 'which candidate can beat Trump?' No questions about who I like or agree with. My wife does hair in a college town with lots of groovy old professor types who think Democrats need to aim for the middle, after all of these conversations no one has ever said who they like. My wife mentioned she loved Bernie and a woman in her late twenties said he was too old.

I say lets fucking run Mitt Romney as a Democrat, I was going to say maybe a Lieberman/Kaine ticket, but no let's go all the way. Mitt Romney! He has all the decorum we could ask for! Maybe Democrats could just take whoever loses the Republican nomination and just run them as the Democrat, just imagine all those god damn moderate republicans we would get.

LOL Mitt Romney. Thanks, well said. I keep telling people: "middle of the road" means "keep doing what we've been doing." They talk about safe "baby steps"; they're talkin' retail level, small change.

All serious people know that political success resides in the middle. Centrists such as myself are able to see that both sides of the extreme are actually two sides of the same coin, if you will. However while we do posses the blueprint, we must have the wherewithal to commit completely to meeting halfway and not just go halfway to the halfway point. While the extremes froth at the mouth and speak in tongues I suggest the adults in the middle of the room finally fully implement the moderate approach. If this strategy has ever ‘failed’ it could only be because it has never actually been fully realized. Therefore I strongly support nominating Mitt Romney as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States of America.

Mitt has decorum to spare and will undoubtedly woo moderate republicans. You might not like him, but you probably don’t hate him and remember that is the goal. ‘Loved or hated, but never ignored’, is a great t-shirt slogan (I should know I’m wearing one now), but it does not make a winning strategy for the highest office in the United States of America dear sir! Be warned those jabbering on the extreme will mutter under their breath something about enthusiasm being good. Remember enthusiasm is what got us here in the first place, remember how excited and enthusiastic those Trump rallies were?!?!? Is that what you want?!1! A bunch of enthusiastic shouting lunatics! Again please mind your grounded middle ground guides and nominate Mitt. I promise no one will be excited and I’m sorry I keep having to spell this out, THAT IS THE PLAN YOU WILD EYED NUT CASES THAT I CAN LONGER TELL APART NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE ON THE E X T R E M E!!! POLITICAL SPECTRUM cause you are just too worked up and you are scaring me!!!! Pardon me I seem to be getting a little excited myself. Again restore America by nominating good guy Mitt Romney.

Stacey Abrams says NO!

AOC will never accept your proposal

or is it that you forgot to use the color green

there are great women in the Democratic Party and they are not the same as old white men and we are not handing the party over to republicans OR going backwards

both sides are NOT the same...one side wants to control women's bodies, does not believe in science, and are fine with chopping up a journalist with a bone saw

trump has sent 40% of House Rs packing and they are NOT welcome in the Democratic Party

but trump is a great socialist

At $28 billion so far, the farm rescue is more than twice as expensive as the 2009 bailout of Detroit’s Big Three automakers, which cost taxpayers $12 billion

and a republican Michigan governor purposely poisoned the people of Flint and now there is a spike in special needs teachers for the children he left behind
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

^^^
From CNN: Democrat Stacey Abrams just barely lost Georgia's gubernatorial election last year. And she says the 2020 presidential candidates can learn a lot from the razor-thin margin.

"(Georgia's) got 16 electoral votes, and she sees her race in 2018 as a kind of playbook," CNN's Nia-Malika Henderson said. "She got more votes than any Democrat in the history of Georgia elections. She says Democrats should focus on unlikely voters, when they typically focus on swing voters."

My comment: I agree with focusing on unlikely voters, if we get Romney there is a possibility we could get John Voight on our side, and how UNLIKELY would a John Voight democrat vote be!!! Imagine the coalition we could build around JOHN VOIGHT!

Edit to add, this could be the catalyst to reunite John with Angelina Jolie and one reason I think we could expect his endorsement. Also imagine the good will created for the democratic party if they indeed can 'reach across the aisle' and get these guys back on speaking terms.

racists are not welcome

Jon Voight has a message for the "black community" and the "angered left" -- racism was "solved long ago by our forefathers"

like having slaves solved that problem

the goal is to get new people to vote not change the minds of trump supporters because that will never happen

Voight is insane

I want NOTHING to do with Jon Voight ...I really can't tell if you are funnin' with me.... you are really not serious are you?

you are just playing with me correct?

Voight does not want anything to do with Democrats and I know of NO one that cares one bit want Voight thinks

Jon (sorry for the earlier misspelling as this campaign develops we will have a few kinks to work out) Voight and more importantly Jon paired with Agelina have huge crossover appeal. Jon played the Pope and played FDR combine Angelina and you corner the group of voters I’ll call “Roman Catholics who liked Deliverance, but never want to see it again, and whose children or grandchildren they took to watch tomb raider in the theatres when that was what people did more often and appreciate FDR and might think Jon Voight is actually FDR voter.”

the accepted protocol is to use green instead of black to avoid confusion, I don't follow you so I am at a loss in understanding your views

if you were being sarcastic please use green but if those are your real views then I have nothing else to say

Thirty years ago next month, Jon Voight joined other celebrities in Washington to advocate for the homeless. An activist I know described him as an asshole who didn’t do whatever it was he promised to do in support and, when confronted about copping-out, turned around and walked away; he didn’t even bother to respond, he was done.

...

Thousands of people from throughout the country are expected for the march to encourage the government to restore money to federal low-income housing programs. About 300 people, many of them homeless in New York City, have marched down the East Coast to join the march. They were expected to spend the night at Prince George's Community College last night before heading into the District.

Meanwhile, march organizers held a news conference yesterday at the National Press Club to issue sometimes emotional appeals for a massive turnout on Saturday.

"I beg and plead for every human being with a conscience of good to join us," said actor Jon Voight, who at one point choked back tears as he recounted efforts in Hollywood to build support for the march.

I bet he did; he’s a terrific actor—I especially liked him in Midnight Cowboy, The Manchurian Candidate re-make and Deliverance. But that’s all he is, an actor who changes roles; as a person, one-dimensional.

You've just perfectly described the core attributes of every U.S. President. There will be degrees of variance in psycho/sociopathy, of course. But otherwise, spot-on*.

Fascism, huh. One can argue the U.S. govt has been comfortably fascist for some time -- certainly many nations and peoples overseas will agree with this. There's also been an uptick in overt creeping fascism domestically, particularly in the last ~18 years, but it's been covert for many years prior to that (via COINTELPRO/MKULTRA and many other programs both obfuscated and purportedly 'revealed').

So long as a healthy portion of the populace continue to fall prey to the farcical narratives on display as presented by both establishment parties, there will be no HOPE.

------------------------
*except, some Presidents are markedly better actors than others. They are, decidedly, not consistently terrific in this criteria. Our current President, in a bit of a departure from standard acting tropes, has demonstrated apparent value -- and success -- in employing the faux 'candor' device. A trend line worth keeping an eye on, surely, as his opponents stumble to keep pace.
