Correct. Btw, I could fix that missing end-parenthesis for you. :gringhost:

Are you saying that 82 – who, for understandable personal reasons, jumped ship from late October through late July – came back and basically asserted a desire to now run the show single-handedly?

Yes.

I wouldn't worry about it. (I saw it and decided it wasn't worth fixing, myself. But thanks for the offer! )

Maybe we need a poll about this moderator issue...

Elvis, I am truly sorry you have been placed into this awful and contentious position. Both you and BS have stated that you had informed the board that AD was to be or had been suspended and that you offered an explanation for taking the action to ban him, conditionally, for one year, the longest suspension in RI history, barring a member's permanent banning.

I honestly never read any such notice in the thread where such a message should appear, in the Members Notice Board. So, without animosity, would either of you two please share with me a link to where, in which thread, Elvis' notice of AD's suspension and the reason for taken this action appeared. If it wasn't published in the members notice board, the claim of announcing the banning of AD and the reason for his banning, was not properly placed where it would alert all of our members of this action. Only those participating in the particular thread Elvis posted this information in would have known AD had been banned.

I was also surprised to learn that Jerky had been banned. I had been under the impression he had be suspended for only a short while. Was there any public notice of this provided to our members?

One thing we all need to be aware of is that life happens, people's kids get killed, people lose the love of their life, their parent, sibling or lover dies, and sometimes become deeply and dysfunctional depressed. After reading Burnt Hill's tragic story, I cried. I even showed their posting to my daughter, crying when I did, for having been an asshole to them without ever considering they might be suffering in any way. And then I fell into a very deep, disabling depression that lasted for several months. I had never before understood how powerful an emotion depression could be, as I had never before been so depressed, not even after my son's murder.

To see you and 82 in conflict is difficult to understand. We have this image of you two together in meat space enjoying some event or other, with your fake 'badges.' (Pit passes or something like that)

I've already shared with you my feelings about moderation and moderators being equal in authority and empowered to act independently. Now, I have no idea as to what transpired between 82 and AD or Jerky, or whether or not 82 attempted to contact Elvis before these members were reinstated, or if he did and Elvis this time and for good reason was absent and unable to respond to his circumstances at the time.

But none of that should matter to me; this is not my board and I am not part of its management, I come here for news I would not otherwise read and to take part in discussions I find interesting and to provide an answer I might know of, to any particular question asked. Inter-moderator arguments should never be made public, regardless. If you two are at odds, if you two cannot work out your differences privately, bring your argument directly to Jeff for resolution and announce whatever verdict is decided, especially important to do if your squabble becomes public, as it now has.

Moderators, in future, please utilize the Members Notice Board to announce all suspensions and provide us with the reason, ie, which RI rule or rules they have broken, for taking such an action against any member.

Btw - Jack - At the time, I thought you would have made a great moderator.

When baby grew up to be a mod, baby made it known that you are your own moderator. I said to trust in one another. I was not being a mod, I was being fair. If you know you're being a dick about something, then you know. Right out the gate, if you know it is going to harm some entity you know it because you mean harm. I asked for this not to be done.

First you speak of 'respect', now you speak of 'trust' and 'being fair'.

Your actions speak for themselves. For the record, I personally think you are 'being a dick', particularly by not owning or speaking to your actions and instead coming out with this sort of meaningless cryptic 'inspirational office-wall-poster caption' rubbish.

Haha. OK. Go way fucking back in time before I got the "calling" to be a mod and see my dick days. There were none. But I was much more of a dick in which I cannot in true faith do now out of fucking fairness to others. I break shit up now and am really stymied in what I want to say because of this non-role that I guess is a role. I freed other humans from feeling as though they are hated for reasons that I did not agree with "punishing" them over. Went to the top of the stack and asked for advice. Got it and people are in the clear for shit they were perfectly free to express themselves. So, yeah, no, banning people I did not want to see in interest of everyone is what I did. No one deserves to be suspended or banned with scant evidence other than personal peccadilloes. There will be a thousand ways in which to express this if I must but again:

You're your own moderator. All I have are mouse clicks. I mouse clicked people back into "existence" for their sake because I saw no problem. Though I do understand people ascribe to the method of antagonizing, you can and will! But it is not the role of a mod to make sure all are welcome outside certain complaints in which there is nothing to complain about.

I read something last night!

Cool, what was it about?

It was something in which I disagreed.

What did you disagree with about what you read?

I don't know but I don't know if I can get over it without going out my way to hurt some unseen person's feelings.

It's the Internet guys. Shit gets posted.

All I can say is my own experience. I was suddenly given a ban notice and whenever I attempted to log on the explanation for the ban simply said "trollery". There was no real precipitating incident that I was aware of, other than Jack suddenly getting very aggressive/hostile/threatening with me shortly before, claiming that I had posted an article that he said was suggesting he was pro-Putin, or something. I was pretty well blind-sided by the year long ban and received no other explanation for who rendered the decision, why they decided this, what they thought was a fair penalty for my sins, nothing. Not at that time and not after.

Are claiming that this decision was not yours alone - that it was made during consultation with Jeff (and shared by Jeff), while completely excluding Elvis from the process?

Was the decision to exclude Elvis yours alone, or did Jeff agree to do so? Was Jeff even aware of the extent to which you had abdicated your role as moderator?

You are a liar. Your dishonesty is off the goddam charts. You have been a notorious plague on this Discussion Board for many, many, many, many years now, and you damn well know it.

Note the dates (and the authors, Project Willow and Wombatic Rex , both Moderators at the time). Emphases added.

That's far from my intention-

I don't believe that for second.

American Dream wrote:This thread was prompted in reaction to other people in other threads complaining about my putting content together in threads where I am generating the majority of the content. I kind of don't know what to do with that, as I don't see them complaining about others who do this in equal proportion. Also, I do believe in the ethic of cooperative/participatory process, even if the realist inside of me knew the chances weren't good.

Anyway, I'll stop now.

I also don't believe that for second. Having been told ad nauseum over several years, you know exactly why you are the center of agitation, this behavior:

You will stop now.

I strongly recommend reading that whole incredible thread -- including seemslikeadream's comments.

Later in the same thread, the future Moderator stillrobertpaulsen commented:

Do I need to go on? I will go on.

It is just breathtaking, this ongoing pretence by The Sneaky Bunch, this shabby lie at Elvis's expense that Elvis is somehow unique and unprecedented among RI Moderators (or RI members of any kind) in having found this affectless pseudoleft flamebaiting spambot "American Dream" a disruptive and deeply destructive presence here.

There's tons more evidence, from years and years and years back. I'll go out of my way to search for it and post more of it later, if the shameless lies continue.

To hell with the liars.

It's far from "scant". There's a mountain of data points that make clear why AD has been suspended numerous times, and was suspended again last year. Mac just posted a very small sampling of it, including commentary by 3 of our former mods NOT named Elvis.

And yet YOU "do not agree" and take action unilaterally, behind Elvis' back, with minimal/no justification other than these semi-coherent and disingenuous ramblings (which also misrepresent the situation).

Not sure if this naiveté/ignorance is willfull or not on your part; in either case, it's a detriment to moderator duties. The fallout from your decision makes this clear.

By fallout, you mean incessant whining from you and the Usual Suspects? Who would have expected different?

When I bothered to defend those whom you and your ilk insulted, attacked, character assassinated, bullied etc, etc, then dared to reply in kind to the attacks sent MY way because of it, I didn't get to do so for very long. You know why? Because your very own personal moderator started issuing ban after ban on me, sometimes for no reason at all, most of the time for absolutely bogus, hypocritical reasons.

My having participated here without serious issue since the first day this board was created didn't provide me with any kind of defense, it seems. As soon as I started questioning the logic and the possible (now obvious) malfeasance behind the wholly-manufactured fascistic psy-op that was the Pizzagate narrative, THEN I became persona-non-gratta to some here, fair game for every kind of accusation and bullshit mis-reading of what I wrote.

I remark on this coincidence without making any specific claims, except to note that it seems finger sniffing fantasist really don't like it when you suggest that, say, Hillary Clinton probably DOESN'T rule over a coven of baby-eating Satanists, and that the most obvious perpetrators of child abuse in the Hempstead horror were those who launched the accusations in the first fucking place.

Cheers, particularly to dozen or so regular former posters who no longer actively participate here because of the thuggery exemplified by MacK, BelSav, Jack and their various groupies.

See what I mean?

More lashing out with vicious thuggery. More living down to lowest expectations. More full on screaming, hissing tantrum antics.

Now all that remains is for the (rhetorical) whooping and clapping from the rest of the Usual Suspects.
