What about Brazil? Bolsonaro is crazy right wing dangerous.

Postby PufPuf93 » Thu May 21, 2020 1:28 am

I just became aware of Olavo de Carvalho, the Limbaugh of Brazil.

He has lived in and worked from Richmond, VA since 2005 yet has been a huge influence in Brazil for decades, coming to full fruit influence with Bolsonaro.

Bosonaro admires and emulates Trump.

So I don't have much energy these days.

Here is lazy but a start point:

Essential topic, thanks, and there are at least a couple of existing 'Brazil' threads picking up with Bolsonaro; you may want to consolidate discussion in one of them:

Thank you Elvis

What spurred the OP was that Olavo de Carvalho had never crossed my radar.

A search of RI indicates that the only mention of Olavo de Carvalho was a post by American Dream who linked an article by Olavo de Carvalho negative about communism, specifically the Russian Alexander Dugin.

Olavo de Carvalho has lived in and done his mischief in Brazil remotely from the USA since 2005.

When I look at the Olympian range of interests the original author/creators of those two wiki's have between them, I'm reminded of a smoothly functioning machine like an Olympic committee. Olav the Oak. He looks like he's channelling Dick Cheney's morphic radio, kinda like Rush...

Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

"War For Eternity" goes into some depth about Olavo, his role in Brazil, his exile in America and his work with Steve Bannon -- and his amusing rivalry with the big homie Alexandr Dugin. If this stuff interests you, very much worth picking up. A bit muddled, too. It's the work of an ethnomusicologist from Colorado (who swears he's not a spy, bro!) who did a book on "Nordic Radical Nationalism" and their music scene, so he already had inroads and connections to the globalized whateverology. Fascist Internationale, as some of y'all call it.

Also, he loves ice cream.

Almost none of that was in the book, which was finished before the pandemic hit and printed in April. More of an advertisement with a focus on, of course, Dugin, bane of the Nation Institute and Lex Luthor / Skeletor of Russiagate faithful.
