I love it.

OK, DE, just to calm you suspicions..this is how it went here-
1. i have all my connections at home on Cable technology.
2. hooked to my cable landphone is a regular (very old partly functioning fax machine).
3. I want to fax directly from my PC to the "world".
4. when I had a regular landphone (not cable) I was able to to dial-up faxing. However, when I hooked my internet to Cable broadband, I was told by EVERYONE that my dialup modem is USELESS. So I uninstalled the fax software.
5. a few days ago, my cable phone line was inoperative for a while, so having an alternative fax became more pressing.
6. by then it turnes out that i cannot fax from PC cause I have broadband Cable and NO regular phone where the old faxmodem would normally go. I was not sure whether the regular fax/modem hooks to a CABLE PHONE line.
7. TOday, I found out it should work with the CABLE PHONE LINE, provided my equipment is suitable, and I will have to check it out tomorrow.

No CONSPIRACY. Not many people have both cable broadband AND cable landline. in facts its highly unusual, and so not enough info about it.

Perhaps I shouldn't have placed the question here. But it is a good illustration of something, for sure. (the dumb woman asking for help with "how to replace a light bulb", and the savvy gentlemen are nearly killing each other on the way...). Meanwhile, I learnt there is something called the Church of SubGenius and the Discordian religion. Fascinating, and otherwise I would never know it exists. Rick Ross has nothing on SubGenius, but there is an "ex cult survivors website". This led me to read some more in Rick Ross, about Madona, Cruise, and Satchivananda (whom I visited for a week). Interesting stuff.
