I'll take whatever application of egalitarian justice comes our way, be it some elite scumbag being singled out for the fall or any of the varieties of "limited hangout" that gets us that much closer to the truth. If we fail to recognize our successes as such, and I using "our" in the broadest possible sense as that is how I view the situation, we may fail to capitalize on our victories when it most matters. Though I don't mean to make any additional parallels between ourselves and the Carthagians, I'd hate to one day look back and realize our "victory at Cannae moment" had come and gone along with the opportunity to end this game that it offered.

well dbeach you seem to think he's going to one of those "darkie" prisons.......he isnt. I bet he ends up in some white collar facility where he has free time and doesnt make 6 cents an hour for the HARD LABOR he will never do....like most of the "GANGSTAS" you so nonchalantly evoked. Prison Labor is one of the fastest growing, most profitable "businesses" in the US.........look it up. People are making HUGE bucks off prison labor.....but the prisoner makes a minute fraction of it........dont get me wrong. Not sympathizing with the murderers and rapists but the "weed man" definatley got the short end on this one.

Bullshit that he's going to end up in a country club. He received a 24 year sentence. The feds do not put people with that kind of time in a minimum security institution. He very well may start his time in a maximum security facility... at the very least a medium security facility. The best he can hope for is a stint in Federal Medical Center, but there he gets to deal with the criminally insane... not quite a walk in the park. Since he went to trial and didn't snitch, he won't land at any of the cushy "snitch prisons" run by the Feds either...

So, Skilling will soon learn quite a bit about respect and living respectfully of those around us.

He's off to FCC Butner, a low-to-medium security federal facilty.

Enron exec sentenced to 24-year term
www.khou.com/sharedconten...b4814.html

FCC Butner: www.bop.gov/locations/ins.../index.jsp

Low: Low security Federal Correctional Institutions (FCIs) have double-fenced perimeters, mostly dormitory or cubicle housing, and strong work and program components. If he's headed to Butner, he's going to the FMC, Federal Medical Center. There, he will be in the company of many physically and mentally ill inmates... it's not the best of places, to my understanding. Probably a little less populated than the low. Once he gets a clean bill of health (or realizes that he can't adequately game the system to keep his ass out of an actual penitentiary), he'll move to a medium, especially with that amount of time. They can reclassify him later, but it'll take some years.
