Or just be that 2nd vote and I'll get this taken care of today!

Are you cool with me doing the announcement?

This whole forum has now been turned into a discussion about posters instead of content. I want that poll moved to the ask admin sub-forum. Asking for input here.

Yes, both my announcement thread and the poll itself should be moved to Ask Admin. I agree.

I've never been in favour of public discussion of moderation. As they say in the army, we're here to protect democracy, not to practice it.

^ As rare as this sort of situation is, maybe ban announcements like this should be limited to the ask admin forum as well, and questioners can be directed there.

Am I drunk on teh power already? ;)

Eerie synch: I watched that again last night.

That was not smart. That was a pivotal mistake of a post. I apologize for that.

Edit: A point is made. It's fair enough.

Followed by thread #2 - should hmw be unbanned?

Personally, I'm fine with Democracy. It's just exhausting. I guess something like this was inevitable in the Dog Days of 2013, according my almanacs and elders, but I do wish I wasn't contributing in such a foolish role in it.

I've banned rollingstone for outing C2W's real identity. I also deleted the post.

I just wonder now how many times we're going to be revisited by C_W in proxy disguise?

Perelandra was bringing this up earlier today and it worries me, too. It's against the rules for RI members to engage in socket puppetry, but we really don't have the tools to enforce that.

We simply got lucky when rollingstone registered the first two posts from a naked IP.

I think it's safe to say we will no be so lucky when rollingstone comes back.

Yeah, who approves new members and how is it done? It seems apparent C_W is determined to carry out some destructive retribution. Can we put a hold on all new memberships for a couple weeks?

I also think any C_W threads should be locked now, and all of it shut down wherever possible.

Jeff and possibly drew approve new members.

I think that a temporary hold on new memberships is a terrific idea. In the meantime, maybe drew can figure out a way to put some ip-based preventative measures into place.
