http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/11/15/occupy-toronto-protesters-call-for-reinforcements-to-pack-the-park-ahead-of-looming-eviction/

A Toronto judge has postponed the eviction of Occupy Toronto protesters while he rules on constitutional issues raised by applicants for an injunction against city by-law officers.

Justice David M. Brown, of Ontario Superior Court of Justice, said everything at the St. James Park site of the protests must remain the same until his decision is made, no later than 6 p.m. on Saturday.

“I think the most appropriate way to balance the interests of all concerned is to maintain the status quo for a very short period of time,” Justice Brown stated, in granting a temporary stay of the eviction notice. He will hear arguments on Friday.

Noting the city’s concern that the camp would swell, Justice Brown also ordered that no other tents be erected in the interim in St James Park. His stay is “not an invitation to crank up the intensity of the protest,” Justice Brown stated.

The move ends a tense day at the park in which bylaw officers plastered the downtown tent city with eviction notices and expectations rose that the police would soon follow.

Interesting to see international co-ordination, too. Thanks for that.

wow, just had the misfortune of listening to a few moments of PRI's 'the world' show, and that smarmy little shit of a host had some (probably CIA-connected) joker from Egypt (who sounded like he's spent most of his life in the US) on to say the movement had "failed" and that he felt OWS letdown the arab-spring protestors, and the problem was that OWS didn't have a K.I.S.S. one-line slogan that would get the whole country full of "regular joes" on-board. What a clown. Was thinking of tracking them down and setting them straight, but then I just couldn't be bothered to wade into that shitpit. If anyone has the stomach to track down who that clown was, it could be useful to know. Certainly he needs to be targeted as he is clearly shilling a line to dampen things down.

What's the name of that US-sponsored CIA connected org that pretends to push "democracy" ?

OK, OK, here it is...

Anchor Marco Werman talks to Ibrahim Abdallah (a "fool"), an Egyptian-born businessman who lives in New York City.

Abdallah spent three days on Tahrir square in Cairo last February during the Arab Spring protests. (THREE WHOLE DAYS! wow!)

He also visited the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York.

He says the movement’s lack of clear goals may be causing its demise.

as far as identification goes, who the hell even IS this guy? "Ibrahim Abdallah" is not enough name to even start differentiating him. Just a stooge probably.

New York City councilor hit and arrested during raid; "still 'being held without access' to his lawyers along with other Occupy Wall Street protestors."

.

if you look back to February I'm sure you can find bozos on NPR saying that it's unclear what Tahrir wants, it's unleashing chaos, etc.

As if there's a shortage of exceedingly clear demands that have a consensus among the protesters (and a majority of the people behind them, in some cases).

Example:

PUT THE BANKERS AND RATINGS AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRE-CRASH FRAUDS ON TRIAL.

That would set so much more into motion!

Let's see that as an up-or-down vote of the US people. It would take many mountains of Citizens United cash to give "no" any kind of chance.

END THE WARS AND PAY FOR JOBS BUILDING NEW ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE AT HOME.

DEBT JUBILEE.

LIQUIDATE THE TBTFs.

START STATE BANKS, SUPPORT CREDIT UNIONS.

Like it matters? The idiots will still pretend they don't get what it's all about. Even though it's very fucking easy to know and the ideas I cite are among the messages that come through most loud and clear at every one of these protests.

Idiots.

Sleeping bags are apparently okay, a loophole perhaps because lawyers have confirmed that only tents, tarps, and stoves are prohibited in the language of the ruling.

Clever by the PTB and right on time. Now people will have to sleep in the snow and rain with no protection from the elements.

So what happens, now and in the longer run, to anti-violence?

Just got back from Zuccotti Park, the mood and energy there was incredibly positive and inspiring.

At one point some cops tried to get a group of people to stop sitting on one of the tall planter embankments but were essentially shouted down by the crowd and ended up not enforcing that arbitrary directive.

It was awesome to witness them back away.

A funny thing happened to the First Amendment on its way to the public forum. According to the Supreme Court, money is now speech and corporations are now people. But when real people without money assemble to express their dissatisfaction with the political consequences of this, they’re treated as public nuisances and evicted.
