Wasted Country
I know, right? The world owes her a debt of gratitude just for her stalwart representation of the right-hand path in the onstage world of David Bowie during the wilderness of the ill-advised Reeves Gabrels years. But she's got talent, too, as it happens. Were I she, I don't know that I would regret going the route I went, for reasons of financial security. However, it does seem a little unfair that proving you have enough star quality for it to be just as perceptible when you're standing five feet away from David Bowie as when you're not is so much more lucrative than just having it. So I'm rooting for her future solo career, personally. I doubt Mr. Bowie's going to be doing any more major touring, anyway. And if he ever needs to rub her cute bald head while
singing an a propos line of "Rebel, Rebel" again, on special occasions or something, you know....They appear to have a sincerely affectionate and collegial relationship. I'm sure they'll be able to work something out. Although I'd far prefer to see them revisit
the revamped, soul-clapping arrangement myself.
I loved seeing him play with that line-up. That band got so good by the time they did the Five Boroughs shows, they were practically breathing as one. Which just has to have entailed a little personal sacrifice, given that it would have required (usually) five of them to go that extra mile while breathing for Earl Slick.
My Christmas list? I hadn't really started thinking about it yet. Why do you ask?
