My best friend is there right now. The population doubled? Ha! Hope they brought some food!

I'm sure he'll have some stories.

For a long time now I've thought that all those Atlantis myths were really echoes from the future.

We are Atlantis.

I've always thought that industrial-based technology was the Anti-christ.

It certainly fits all the bills.

It's magic, it's our savior, it will destroy us.

When I sat on your lap last Christmas, you told me I was your best friend, Nordic. What gives?

Thinking about it, what is with the nomenclature of both the Easter and Christmas islands? Anybody know?

.

I've always thought Flatland tackled the concept of dimensions quite elegantly, and that was written well over 100 years ago:

...the novella's more enduring contribution is its examination of dimensions; in a foreword to one of the many publications of the novella, noted science writer Isaac Asimov described Flatland as "The best introduction one can find into the manner of perceiving dimensions." As such, the novella is still popular amongst mathematics, physics, and computer science students.

Rudy Rucker, a modern-era mathemetician and computer scientist, has recently attempted a 4-dimensional version of Flatland -- I've read some of Rucker's prior [thought-provoking though sometimes plodding] books several years ago, but haven't gotten around to this one yet:

In a tribute to Edwin Abbott's Flatland, a classic mathematical fantasy about a 2-dimensional being (A. Square) who receives a surprise visit from a higher-dimensional sphere, Rudy Rucker's Spaceland describes the life of Joe Cube, an average, modern-day Silicon Valley hotshot who one day discovers the fourth dimension from an unexpected visitation....Joe is suddenly contacted by a Momo, a woman from the fourth dimension she calls the All, of which our entire world (which she calls Spaceland) is like nothing but the thin surface of a rug.

I am interested in concepts such as the associative universe and in the primacy of mind over matter.

Those are part of the secret doctrines which have been passed on for thousands of years.

I love slomo too.

Just last night at the dinner table I was discussing flatland and the possibility of conceiving of higher dimensions with my sainted other. I don't know what synchronicity is, but it does sometimes feel that everying connects to everything else when you start to look. It's the holographic fractal universe with its as above so below replicating self similarity. Or something like that. But this always happens, I turn on the radio, they are talking about some issue I was just reading about on the 'net, or someone mentions some other highly esoteric subject out of the blue that I had just been discussing online. Sometimes these occurances seem to cluster together in high concentrations, and that can be just a little disconcerting. It really can seem to be something more than coincidence.

Thousands Flock To See Easter Island Eclipse

Stargazers who gathered for days on a remote Chilean outpost have been treated to a total solar eclipse.
The rare eclipse lasted just under five minutes and drew a 6,835-mile arc over the Pacific last night.

Remote isles were plunged into darkness with the heavenly display culminating above the Polynesian Easter Island, which lies some 2,175 miles off the coast of Chile.

"It was like being in the stadium at night with artificial light. It was like being in a dark room with a 10-watt bulb," said one awe-struck local official.

"It started with a shadow. The skies were perfectly blue, with lots of wind that chased away the clouds. Everyone applauded.

"We saw a luminous object near here and people started saying they were sure it was a UFO."

The eclipse began about 435 miles south east of Tonga, zipping in an easterly arc to cloak Easter Island.

It culminated in a pass across southern Chile and Argentina, where it came to an end just before nightfall in Patagonia.

Some 4,000 tourists, scientists, photographers, filmmakers and journalists flocked to the Easter Island World Heritage site of only 99 square miles, doubling the barren island's population.

I believe it has something to do with their dates of European 'discovery' falling close to those holidays.

For those who enjoy mundane astrology and it's synchronistic timing with world events, here's a couple of my favorite websites. I cringe a bit when they get a bit into the Icke/reptilian thing, but they are interesting nonetheless and examine many of the same topics as here:

A friend went to see that. He reports it as most impressive, and the clouds even held off until after the totality had ended. No mention of a UFO, though.
