This might be a sensible place to point out you'd have a lot less thrown at you if you acted in what some of us thought was the spirit of the board, instead of what seems directly counter to it.
It seems to me that you mistook criticism of your ideas for defending pedophilia and the establishment and things went downhill from there.
Maybe I'm mistaken about that. But that is how it seems to me.

Personally, I would love to see more Woo. And more OOBEs. And animals.
And online argumentation software. And maybe...
I've love to see more of this. I'd love to see more posters respect each other even if they are in disagreement.
I'd like to see more Big Foot in 2017, more aliens, witches, and psychic phenomena. Peace on Earth, too.
Every time that suggestion is made ...I think to myself why doesn't that lead to someone starting an OP...what are you waiting for?

Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started. They could still get him out of office. But instead, they want mass death. Don’t forget that.
I have empathy for Jeff’s exit by imagining he left the exchanges to ease irritation with them. The alleged ambiance of the festive season hasn’t seemed to have uplifted many spooky spirits here either, then or since, still haunting the holidays.
What have impressed me are the unrequited and unrewarded moderation efforts of Wombaticus Rex, still suffering the slings and arrows of self-appointed antagonists. He’s doing a thankless job - apparently from an altruism he covers with often-caustic come-backs. Unlike Jeff and the other invisible referees, he has hung around.
I also admire the participation, perseverance and principled positions of posters like seemslikeadream, iamwhoiam and American Dream who also share, like other good guys, cut and paste published papers to support their perspectives, thus adding in-depth analysis. Agreement is secondary to learning fresh angles from such angels. Disagreent need not be nasty, unless immaturity reigns in the roost.
The best of academia often gets overwhelmed by the loud schoolyard out on the fringes, where attention-seekers are active just to play, bully and blow off steam.
Jeff might return, and so might Santa Claus with a sleigh full of toys. Hang tough!
Dead in the water
It's not a paid vacation
The sons and daughters of city officials
Attend demonstrations
It's hardly a sink or swim
When all is well if the ticket sells
Out with a whimper
It's not a blaze of glory
You look down from your temple
As people endeavor to make it a story
And chisel a marble word
But all is lost if it's never heard
But I've got someone to make reports
That tell me how my money's spent
To book my stays and draw my blinds
So I can't tell what's really there
And all I need's a great big congratulations
I'll keep your dreams
You pay attention for me
As strange as it seems
I'd rather dissolve than have you ignore me
The ground may be moving fast
But I tied my boots to a broken mast
The difference is clear
You throw it in your cauldron
Rust and veneer, dusk and dawn
Steinways and Baldwins
You start with a simple stock of all the waste
And salt to taste
But damn my luck and damn these friends
That keep on combing back their smiles
I save my grace with half-assed guilt
And lay down the quilt upon the lawn
Spread my arms and soak up congratulations
Every time that suggestion is made ...I think to myself why doesn't that lead to someone starting an OP...what are you waiting for?

Thanks for pointing out that thread! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't think I have a lot to add, but it's a good read. I think I was inspired to start the recent Jesus thread out of the same idea; not to start a religious debate, but to explore something different; and sure enough we've had at least some mention of aliens, magic, and other woo

It's nice to see some positivity on the board Well said, all of it.
I'm becoming less rigorous as time goes by. I'm not sure how much of it has to do with aging. I suspect that Fakebook is feeding my ADD however. The constant stream of information and the ability to immediately engage with shit is "appealing" I guess.
And no, I don't have a life in real life.
America is a fucked society because there is no room for essential human dignity. Its all about what you have, not who you are.--Joe Hillshoist
Neon, you are a good good person. Doesn't get no one nowhere to be good but you are and I love you inside and outside of RI.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi
