Logicomix. Greatness. Starring Bertrand Russell and a cast of thousands.

Sets paradox: The set of all sets that do not contain themselves - does it contain itself? If YES, then it cannot be in that set, because it contains itself. If NO, how can you include it in the set, because if you did, it would contain itself. But without it, the set would be incomplete, and therefore not the set of all sets that do not contain themselves. A paradox indicates the system of logic itself has some fundamental flaw in its axioms. Uh oh!

And Boole of Booleans turns out to be some mathematician who preceded Russell historically. Didn't know that.

Would you believe that this comic is a thriller? It is. And a gift from family, for which I am grateful.

The enigma of capital by David Harvey. The first chapter is pretty good and I'm looking forward to it, a Marxian look at the global economy today, updated for new instruments, markets and methods of creating money.

Just finished Cosmos and psyche... Very interesting (if a little drily presented), it makes a lot of sense and came at a good time for me personally. I got it after Jeff mentioned it in another thread and I looked into it, thanks Jeff.

I'm on a Cormac McCarthy jag... Currently reading No Country for Old Men. Can't get enough of his prose.

-That's just a word, Marlowe. We have that kind of world. Two wars gave it to us and we are going to keep it.

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.
