Surely not on any objective assessment, but perhaps more likely, a knee-jerk reaction against certain apparent 'trigger' phrases, or ideas, that are immediately associated with a potential 'right-leaning' viewpoint. You see, any reference to "implanted microchips", however valid, must be instantly derided as fringe right-wing talking points/"Conspiracy Theory". The Pseudo-leftist is then compelled to defend Gates. It's the same diseased mindset that in many respects is at least partially responsible for the ZEAL self-identified "leftists" displayed when they jumped on -- and continue to defend -- the lockdown/mask-wearing bandwagon, despite clear science that showcases minimum-at-best efficacy: because TRUMP uttered anti-mask sentiment. Reflexively, all those that loathe Trump refused to even CONSIDER that masks actually don't work as advertised. No different than PAVLOV's DOGS, anyone that falls prey to this. And it applies on the converse as well, of course; plenty of 'trigger' phrases out there to get those on the 'Right' worked up as well. Facile strawman constructions created to amplify white noise and divisive rhetoric, keeping the people divided and distracted from underlying activities.
*it goes without saying there is PLENTY of data out there to be highly dubious of Gates' intent

Still, there will be those that will continue to wave away these developments, at least due in part to the implication that voicing scrutiny of Gates may potentially place you within range of viewpoints held by..... The Others.
Perhaps he's not as sinister as he appears to be -- there may well be other undisclosed factors at play and a number of grey areas occluded from view. But there's no doubt he's earned scrutiny, and there will likely be minimal accountability in the near-term.
I'll be honest, back around 2012-ish I would all but snear at Russel Brand. Today I recognise that he'sgenuinely impressive, possibly the only authentic Left voice with such a massive audience, making arguments of considerable sophistication in a popular form on subjects few others dare touch. Those who hold back and won't hear him from some kind of twisted scruple are missing out on the sort of conversation which used to be possible in media but which will now get you prosecuted if you live in Germany for instance.

I'm not supporting the spraying of oil on food unless you want to fry it but ... I used to grow avos and have friends who still do and this is rubbish:

You can't pick avos commercially and have them ripe in a day or even three days. It usually takes at least a week for them to ripen properly so they are edible, especially Hass varieties - the small bumpy ones that make up most commercial production (99% of it iirc). If you want you can wait till they fall off the tree and eat them within a day or two cos they are ripe by then but they are too soft for transport if you do that, so you can only sell them very locally. If you sell them at all.

If the people who are urging us to reduce our carbon footprints are living lives of excess, how can we trust their motivations and the validity of their claims about man-made climate change?

Do you worry whether Gates funded PR, readily available from most state and corporate media, international institutions, most state governments, computer/device operating systems/search engines and most science journals - do you worry if all this will be enough to offset a rather limited critique of Bill Gates on a single twitter account?
