Instead of saying, "Say cheese", say instead, "Look scared".

Re: Johnny Gosch update
I don't see fear in the eyes of the kids so much as crushed spirits. Fear's pretty easy in comparison to fake.

The photos have a very strong late-70s-early-80s weathered vibe that I think would be very hard to counterfeit. (Also, I understand they were Polaroids, making it more likely that they're images of genuine abuse from that era.)

Yes, I agree, the photos are probably from that time period.

Quote:
Why is this the instinctual reaction? Is it easier to believe that she faked and lied about the photos than to believe that Johnny was kinapped into a sex ring run by the government?

Course it is! People don't realise that their "reality testing" only works if they are looking at phenomenon from their own social world/strata. When their lives are penetrated by artefacts or narratives from places that operate with different rules, they use concepts like faking/lying/crazy to keep their own worldview intact.

Underneath it all you can hear their distress at their intuition that the claims they are rejecting out of hand are probably true and something is going on that they can't understand.

As at least one poster here at this site can attest, I like to play around amateurishly with photography. I have learned that if you take ENOUGH pictures, at least one of them will turn out the way you hope.

Re: Johnny Gosch update
So if the pictures are "staged" they certainly seem to have at least been taken during the time period in question, that is the early 1980's. Why?
Why fake it? Is somebody trying to discredit the case? All this crap is speculation. Let's stick with what we know.

The bottom line is that this case hinges upon the franklin cover up/ Bonacci connection. If Paul Bonacci is to be believed, then Johnny was taken by that partciular ring of organized pedophiles.

And the Franklin Case seems to be true, alot of the key players were in fact indicted for criminal activity, Larry King for financial misconduct, Alan Baer, I believe for something to do with child rape or torture, among others, they're all shown in the Conspiracy of Silence documentary.

Then in the 1999 case of Bonacci versus King, the judge ruled that what Bonacci was saying is true. So for all intents and purposes the Gosch case should have been reopened at that time, and it wasn't.

My concerns are

A) Where is Bonacci?

B) What is Larry King doing now?

These are issues, at least the second one that could be easily investigated.

Also, of the 80 or so children that came forward in Ohmaha, why hasn't anyone followed up with them, or asked them for an interview on the situation, I know they recanted, but it still would seem like an easy enough lead to follow up on, just see what these kids are doing now.

How about Alisha Owen? These are the questions nobody seems to ask DeCamp or Rothstein lately.

Edited by: stackdag at: 9/10/06 9:20 pm

And with regards biaothanatoi's post, keep in mind that it is wise to always play devil's advocate to your own instinctive response.

stackdag, recantations are always unreliable, additional cooberation is always necessary.

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 9/10/06 9:17 pm

Re: Johnny Gosch update
Well this thing drives me crazy, here we are on the brink of exposing all these sick politicians, and helping to rebuild the shattered lives of these kids and their famlies and it just sits there.

And just how long should it take to "analyze" photos? You'd think that at least by now they could say if the were authentic to the time period, they were polaroids right?

"Intuition" of the "this doesn't quite feel right" kind may be your own conciousness trying to "spit out" an idea that it considers toxic or dangerous. We don't talk about it often, but consciousness does have "immune" responses.

If we don't see some determination on this in the near future, then we never will. Lack of a determination will be evidence, as far as I'm concerned.

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 9/10/06 9:52 pm
