There are many excellent ideas contained here, but I'm not clear on who has the latitude to actually implement them. As I have stated before, we may be in the classic sci-fi position of "operating" a spaceship none of us can actually control.

Software options
I know that some other Forum software like Invision used to have a 'Hardcore ignore' feature, which rendered all activity from people you put on it as invisible.
It operated a bit like a Facebook 'Block'. I have been in a Facebook group with 120 people from a forum, 3 of whom I really didn't like, blocked them on joining and have never had a problem. It is a really great feature. Searched all over for a phpBB one, but nothing found so far.
Action: Is there a Facebook type 'Block' feature for phpBB?

The Usergroups setting in the User Control Panel
Could users be given the right to create their own groups?
So that all the people who want to join that group can do so?
I do not know whether this is in Admin territory or in Mod territory

Yes and yes. Especially #2. But at the same time, the core issues have to remain. My view is this is a place for examining the Weird and developing fundamental skepticism toward official stories and dominant ideologies and paradigms, without preremptory attacks, especially from those who would seek to dismiss as "conspiracy theory" all talk of hidden power structures, deception and malfeasance in public, political and economic life. This must remain a place for evidence- and logic-based discussions of these issues without the James Randi-style sophistry or naive repetitions of liberal faith blocking discourse and inquiry.

The only 'hurt' I can really see is having it them all constantly in GD, especially as crossposting is rife. It's obviously pissing a number of people off.

Stick them in their subforum and a lot of that irritation and heat should vanish. surely the mods here have the ability to perform this.

FIGURE IT OUT. The annoying poster who takes up "too much space" can be ignored, like I do with SLAD, who starts about 14 times as many threads as AD - I will call that a "scientific measurement" without "hyperbole," since she's going to decide that is how I meant it, and will therefore post 10,000 thread links to prove that the ratio of her thread proliferation flooding this board compared to AD's is not 14:1.
