But tell me, where do the children play?

Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die?

Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train
Switch on summer from a slot machine
Yes, get what you want to if you want
Cause you can get anything
I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass
For your lorry loads pumping petrol gas
And you make them long, and you make them tough
But they just go on and on, and it seems that you can't get off
Oh, I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you've cracked the sky, scrapers fill the air
But will you keep on building higher
'Til there's no more room up there?
Will you make us laugh, will you make us cry?
Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die?
I know we've come a long way
We're changing day to day
But tell me, where do the children play?

you're leaving there too soon

From the sounds inside my mind
Yes, I'm one too many mornings

I certainly like the idea of a “Future Sound of Egypt”!

I know that Alvarius B character went to Egypt to record an album with the group, El Ayadi El Khafeyya a few years ago:

I liked that one.

I always preferred the Future Sound of London’s alter-ego, Amorphous Androgynous:

There was no promise made

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy2HjxaKKEo

There's no way out of here
When you come in
You're in for good
There was no promise made
The part you played
The chance you took
There are no boundaries set
The time and yet
You waste it still
So it slips through your hands
Like grains of sand
You watch it go
There's no time to be lost
You'll pay the cost
So get it right
There's no way out of here
When you come in
You're in for good
There never was an answer
There an answer
Not without listening
Without seeing
There are no answers here
When you look out
You don't see in
There was no promise made
The part you played
The chance you took
There's no way out of here
When you come in
You're in for good
There never was an answer
There an answer
Not without listening
Without seeing
There's no way out of here
When you come in
You're in for good
There are no answers here
When you look out
You don't see in
There was no promise made
The part you played
The chance you took
(When you come in)
(You're in for good)

Blue,

Are you going to ask the mods to update the name of this thread to "... 2019" ,
or are you going to be the keeper of the timeflame and start a new "Music for 2019" thread?

Great thread either way, thank you.

Yes I did thanks for remembering :lovehearts:

Balances must be defended

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OA_35yJ7boA

They were guardians of the breath
Trusted with those precious chances
Keeping gaia from the fear of death
Balances must be defended
To take only what they must
(borrowed from the future)
Live in lovers of a global home
(our children will remember)
Guardians slept while comfort came
The vapours poison, the acid rain fell
The spirit cut from earthly bounds
The creature stirred the pain
How much abuse can she take
(awake from your dreamtime)
The lines are drawn our justice awaits
(will the guardians surrender)
The forest bare, a desert born
The life pushed out
They sold her cheaply
All for a shilling for next weeks treat
A marvel that had taken ten thousand years
To take only what they must
(borrowed from the future)
Live in lovers of a global home
(our children will remember)
They are guardians of the breath
Trusted with those precious chances
They are guardians of the breath
Balances must be defended

It takes a lot to shock me but I am seriously gobsmacked that Hooverphonic have been largely ignored in the UK and apart from Out of Sight and You Loved me to Death which I knew from compilation albums I was completely unaware of their work ..... I am seriously catching up with some amazing songs, singers, videos and musicianship here. Much is made of the lead singers (and rightly so as Geike and Noemie are both fantastic singers in their own right ...how good they look is just a bonus!) but its the catchy tunes and ethereal melodies that are grabbing me by the proverbials. Raymond is a brilliant guitarist ...no frills just brilliant but every song is underpinned by one of the tightest rhythm sections Ive heard driven along by Alex's addictive basslines. He just gets it right every time ....driving rumbling bass, solid drums, sweet guitars and strings with exquisite voices .... Amazing to come across and get to know such an accomplished body of work so late. I absolutely love this video and so wish I could have seen the gig. 10/10
