Leonardo DiCaprio has gotten much better in the last 5 years. He's certainly not taking roles that rely too much on his looks at least.

I love PK Dick and some of my favorite films are sci-fi. But I found Inception empty and tedious. Disguised as something novel, it's the same old shit Hollywood manufactures for public consumption. 30,000 shootings and crash ups, not a single one quickening the pulse. No more soulful than a sudoku puzzle, it's characters are just abstractions — they might as well have been popsicle sticks — and the sham and hackneyed motivations of the hero (his kids, he must see his kids!) reveal its contempt for the human heart.

It's the land of the waking dead. Our collective dream is that we have free will. Engineers construct big-budget kinetic extravaganzas to feed that dream, seducing and then molding viewers into submissive consumption machines, machines who fancy that they're actually individuals philosophizing about, say, alternative realities! Meanwhile they’re already pinned in (hi-def 3-D) amber. These are the hip, pornographic epics that our culture of distraction rides into the broken future.

Anyhow.

(exhale)

Pisses me off.

I agree with you 90%. I'm just curious though, do you think that it is a collective dream that we have free will, or that we have it, but don't choose to use it?

Somebody told me that the theory is being kicked around the Internets that Inception is an allegory for film making. Different characters representing the role of the producer, director, set designer, etc

Nolan wanted Evan Rachel Wood for the Ellen Page part.

Ironically the 21-year old actress hanging out with the old dude is probably much more politically astute and aware than Rourke. She's the daughter of Ira David Wood III:

I liked Inception quite a bit. I felt the ending was pretty straightforward although Nolan of course leaves a little room for doubt. It reminded me a little bit of Memento (the main characters guilt regarding his wife's death), the Matrix (the other world where much of the action takes place), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (how the mental landscape begins to fall apart).

My only criticism was that there was a bit too much exposition to explain everything and the action/explanation scenes really made things drag a bit. Particularly when they were setting up the falling sequence in the hotel dream segment.

the story was ripped from the pages of a 2002-2003 scrooge mcDuck comic...
Was the plot of Christopher Nolan’s Inception inspired by a Don Rosa Uncle Scrooge comic book story? In the story, created for the European market in 2002 and published in the US in the May 2004 issue of Uncle Scrooge (#329), Scrooge’s totem is a 25-pound bar of solid gold. His “limbo” is an endless desert where each grain of sand is actually a microscopic gold coin. Both stories have characters use a machine to enter someone’s dream – and entering someone’s dream to steal a secret. The similarities don’t end there.

not so much a theory.

here's a link to an interview with the cast where dicaprio actually states that this was what nolan was up to. he calls it nolan's 8 1/2.

so there's that.

Viewer's observation skills leave much to be desired.

People, learn how to watch CIA-Hollywood movies.
Look for the keywords-themes-images that are about what spooks want us to believe:
> Positive framing of male warrior culture + government cover stories
> Negative framing of females + whistleblowers.
> Mystification of reality into W.O.O.

Yes, films are made by military spooks as psyops. Some internet boards have exposed this.
And so more fictional W.O.O. haystack goes around those needles used to inject things into the mass mind.

How could you all have missed-
the use of an elevator shaft to wire up a building for remote-controlled demolition?
By no coincidence...that's how the real 9/11 was done. There's even a May 2001 movie priming us for it called 'The Shaft' complete with buying short on the stock market. Hmm.

Hey, how about where "AriADne" asks, "What happens when you mess with the laws of physics?"
And we are shown buildings turned over on their sides just like in the movie's poster.
That's the cover-up of Conservation of Momentum proving those three World Trade Center buldings couldn't come down that fast without being blown up.
Oh, and "AriADne" is called an "architect." As in Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth's Richard Gage.

Lots of that dreary exposition was straight out of Army Field Manual FM33-1 Psychological Operations.
The two totems, a top (SPINS) and a child's pinwheel (SPINS) = spin.
That hand-to-hand battle with no gravity is right out of FM33-1 and a description of attacking your opponent's
"center of gravity."

Then there's all the decoy-negative framing of Theresa Dunkin'/ (dunkin' chair and van) Jeremy Blake/Ty Brown-DreamsEnd
because of all the internet visibility THAT doorway to CIA atrocities got.
The paranoid suicidal woman? The guy repeatedly in the ocean's surf?
The brown hues in many scenes and brown tie at the end on the plane?
Training "AriADne" on those weird stairs to nowhere? 'WIT OF THE STAIRCASE,' Theresa Dunkin's blog name!
The dreams....end? Yah. Dreamsend and his interviews on the deaths of those two people.

Why am I emphasizing AD in "AriADne?" Because advertising and psyops are almost identical.
"AriADne" uses a pictogram of a 'wilderness of mirrors,' a spook term.
"AriADne" takes us to the bridge, not because she's a James Brown fan, but because bridging associations are a psyops technique in semantic priming of the ole lexical decision tree.

The other thing this psyops flick is promoting is the idea that "radical violent content" online, namely al-Queda and 9/11 truthers, will 'drive' young Americans into dangerous behaviors.
Remember the brown-skinned guy driving the van while the young team sleeps? No, not an Israeli like the internet 9/11 rumor.

There's a European initiative to get INCEPTION papers from cyberteams who have come up with plans to identify those online sources of "radical violent content" that TPTB are worried about. Allegedly.
Remember the brown-skinned guy driving the van while the young team sleeps?

TPTB really just want to do more online surveillance and counter-subversion.
They hate this board and others like it all exposing the family jewels of social control and are demonizing us as dangerous dupes of extremists over in Oil World.

I will second that. What they "fear most" is the word of mouth that those of us get out of this place and other places, online and off. When we start dropping like flies, those of us interested in this shit, as it were, others are bound to wake up. However, they are seeing to it that when those who are semi or marginally interested in this shit do wake up, they wake up screaming. Does that make us SWEET or COOL BRAH? No, don't think so. They're afraid of the mini Jesuses, Jesii, however the fuck one would name such a thing. They are afraid of those who do not react. Not us, but the the moment where there becomes a situation that is so clear that the whole motherfucking empire collapses as NOBODY believes in it any longer.

I don't believe it myself, as in, I just thought of it, but perhaps technology is catching up with the global human and animal and botanical brain and not the other way around. Perhaps because our human sensibilities don't know where we're headed in and of an invented and controlled system, it isn't malfunctioning, but it is overcoming it, in slow steps, slower than the cycle of the newest processor or lately, the cycle of the iPhone.

My little laptop here, sure, has a processor. My little cellphone and PS3 have processors too. Sir, how many of our processors control your life? A google search retains the activity of who knows how many processors around the world? But the processor knows. There are little processors in the submarines, which are little more tham cyborg extensions of the BP controllers at the surface of the sea, probably wearing proto-cyborg bluetooth earpieces they don't even take off when they go to bed or hell, I bet some fuckers have sex with their bluetooths on. Do the processors know? Do we know the processors? But the processors yet know. And our lives are increasingly and increasingly and increasingly not worth living really, without some kind of processor.

Live without a single processor for a week. There is no way you could do it. Live without solid state memory on a camera on a deep woods camping trip for a week -- virtually impossible. Not only will you take a pic or two, but your absence from the grid is being processed. Bank card not used, didn't clock into work, hasn't accessed Internet in week, didn't okay virus scan in the amount of time he usually does, you know. The lack of activity is the activity in many cases, I do believe.

The sci-fi writer in me says it is close to "coming alive" and it will be seized on, only not for the cause of good. Yet perhaps, just perhaps, we are, nature is, intuition is, a number of steps ahead of it. It could be only the perception that it controls us that it controls us. "It" could already be alive, but is so smart that it knows how to play dead. There is so much we just don't know and are forced to speculate over in our small and seemingly insignificant ways.

As for Hugh's commentary ... um, yeah, sure.

Find me JUST ONE DOCUMENT or INVOICE showing someone/somewhere was tasked with or paid for ANY of the things you suggest in your KWH theories and I will bow down before your Disinfo-Deciphering prowess.

And yes, I realize that the Illuminaughty have paper-shredders and only documents they want released are ever made available for our prying eyes.

Terence McKenna on Who's In Control

Terence describes conspiracy theories as "amateur historiography". He then goes on to reveal the secret of who's really in control.

Terence Mckenna on government conspiracy

In this excerpt of a Terence Mckenna lecture, Terence talks about having an optimistic view on institutions and social change.

Terence McKenna On the Global Conspiracy

I believe that this is the ultimate reality of the Illuminati, and the reason we are able to defeat them. They want to own what only God can own. ALL OF CREATION. Most of us just want to live in harmony with it (however misguided some of us may be).

For the umpteenth time...
