She's definitely being overshadowed, but she's not breaking. I don't think she's said or done anything that her campaign will regret later, a handicap that Trump doesn't care about. He'll do or say anything and call it showmanship later. The point of these debates is to inform voters and help lean them towards a decision, but are either of these performances going to do that?

I think Hillary is stumbling on the Race Relations and Crime issues.
Again, it's the incumbent party's "everything is fine!" mentality when people on the streets are screaming out in anger, on both sides. She talked about how too many minorities have been victims of institutional racism and cited the drug war and mandatory minimums... something she and her husband championed back in the 90's. And now Donald just brought up her Super Predator line from the 90's.
It's like she stuck in the middle. She can't criticize police. She can't criticize minority groups. This is not a criticism of her, but a comment on the difficulty she's placed in by party position.
Trump is unrestrained because he's only targeting the Right for his message.

To counter my above post, I think Hillary did a good job with the Birther thing, painting Trump as a blatant race-baiter. Good for her because he 100% is.
It's funny that the question about cyber security is used by her to paint Trump as an ally to Russia, and he uses it to bring up the DNC email scandal. Neither one could go for the jugular, though. I'm not sure if the time format is allowing for that, or if they are holding back.
Yep. He's getting caught over-explaining and repeating himself, over a minor point, too.
He didn't go into much detail when attacking Hillary on destroying Libya and lobbying to destroy Syria as SecState. These are some of my biggest contentions with her; middle eastern policy (as is Obama's). I think its one of her weak points with centrists and even far-left Liberals and he barely touched on it.
It makes me think that he doesn't actually know any details. He has general complaints and ideas, but hasn't bothered to research specifics. I'd believe it.
As much as I dislike her international policy, I'll admit that at least Clinton knows details. She's been elbow-deep in it for nearly two decades, while he's been nothing but a commentator.

trump hasn't taken up those really crucial things like libya/syria bc he would likely be constrained by a security state that is of course already advising him, and won't let him take a radically different course of action. maybe he'd supervise a radically worse one
clinton of course will herself be much worse than obama about these issues

I noticed he stayed far away from the Clinton Foundation. When she jiggled him about his business dealings I was waiting on him to say something like, "yeah, and your corrupt business is the shady Clinton Foundation" but he didn't want to touch it.
For the most part he let the email thing slide. He didn't say a whole lot about it.

I think she will be Bush + Obama in many ways. I don't know if "invasion" will ever be on the table again, but I think it will be bombs away.
A pretty dud debate. Not as entertaining as I thought it would be. I'm not sure if Trump won. He started droning on about irrelevant issues towards the end, but he started strong and bullied her into standing there and smiling. She had a much stronger grasp of specifics and policies, and in a quiet way, she got him to defend himself on taxes, on the birther issue, on racism, and on the Iraq War stuff. That was very unlike him.
backtoiam, I agree, he never attacked her in any strong way. It's almost like he was holding back or he just couldn't think quick enough on his feet.
I'm not sure what to think, really.

Watched the Jays-Yankees shit show instead. Messy and unsatisfying and neither side deserved to win.
She looked as smug as fuck at the end of it, whereas I thought she would be getting carried off having an eye-rolling fit I was surprised that Trump didn't push a lot harder later on on things like Isis, and the women related stuff make him look a doofus.
Here are the edited highlights if you didnt catch it all

He really looked like an idiot, especially after the first 20 minutes:, the fatphobia thing, making fun of climate change, on the question of mistreating women, and regarding racial unity (especially that he seems to believe that blacks and Latinos only live in hell, the "inner cities". Not to mention that the innermost districts of all major American cities are improving.).
