Edit: I was surprised by the amount of traffic I was hearing outside, seeing as no one is supposed to leave their home, until I looked out and found that the constant flow of traffic this morning on the road by my house consists entirely of police cars and "official-looking" trucks and motorcycles. This is so surreal.

Chechnya eh? Well that's a whole other can of worms. Most of the 19 9/11 hijackers were said to have been trained and meant to fight there but got repurposed for the 9/11 attacks.
Of course Russia has massacred untold tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Chechens. From the infamous(and highly dubious) Russian Apartment complex series of attacks to Beslan to a string other Chechen blamed attacks.
The media reported that a lot of Taliban fighting in Afghanistan are from Chechnya.

People have mentioned Gladio. It's worrisome to think a full on 2008 Mumbai style attack or some sort of Beslan situation could happen in America.

The dead one is the older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev (auspicious name). That quote is from a photospread about him boxing which you can see here; some of the other quotes make it clear that he was a chap who took religion pretty serious. His family fled Chechnya in the early 1990s. The surviving (for now, I guess) brother is the younger one, Dzokhar. Also an auspicious name, it is the well-remembered first name of the first president of independent Chechnya, Dzhokhar Dudayev. Dzokhar Tsarnaev would have been born five or so years after the Russians killed Dudayev. He seems to have been just as hectic as his brother, and has posted a jihadi video calling for brothers to join the fight in Syria on his social media page.
