I like Hugh in a funny sort of way, but I'm in agreement, the bloke has got to go. He's been given all kinds of warning, treated with kid gloves, but he's still shit the bed. My vote is let the fella go. It's not like we're drawing & quartering the guy.

I should add, big celebratory threads & posts on the guy being permanently banned should be frowned upon, imo. Just my thoughts, though.

Just sent Hugh a warning about his reply to Peartreed' strawberry post on the scripting thread. I told him to lay off the personal and focus on the topic. If his response is not suitably contrite, I suggest suspending him for a couple of weeks.

I've really had it with his impact on the board. He's like an infected tooth, and the board is only a few more HMW posts away from a permanent liquid diet.

I'm kind of with Bruce on this one. I've seen him take pot shots at Jeff in regards to this board numerous times & Jeff's been pretty damn gracious to let him push his shtick for as long as he has. Soooo.... I guess Jeff has final word on a permanent time out?

The problem has been a problem and getting worse literally every say since we started discussing this, I'm surprised with how hard Hugh is charging.

I pretty much never want to type a single f'ing sentence about Hugh again. You know?

Hugh's response to my warning was a PM calling everyone else a troll. There is no evidence that he understands why the warning was issued.

I just suspended Hugh for two weeks, but I would gladly make it permanent if we could achieve a consensus.

He pm'd me last night in regards to my little outburst at him & he was actually very pleasant. But unfortunately I think he thinks peartreed is a spook. He can't keep disrupting like that & I do understand he is genuinely thinking he is fighting a good cause but man alive...

I still vote for a ban, things will not be any different when he returns.

I think Hugh's ruined enough threads. If there's consensus for a permanent ban, let's do it and be done with him. And we should announce it.

Looks like we've got clear votes from Jeff, Wombat, Peregrine, and Me to ban Hugh permanently.

Gah. I wanted to finish my PM to him, but no big deal. He's gotta go if he's had this many warnings & disrupted this many threads.

He does seem to be learning-resistant. He isn't saying anything that anyone is unaware of, except for his specific examples, which are entertaining but bonkers. He seems to have a peculiar ability to get under skins. More liberal use of the ignore function by some people would fix at least some of the problem. I will miss him but I have to agree that the board would be a healthier place without his monomania and his bouts of delirium. Is there a way to let him keep a blog or something, but ban him from the board? So that sampling his delusions could be more elective?
