A Martian psychoanalyst observing the US Superbowl on TV would be shocked by the vicious animal spirits emanating from that spectacle...
Reminds me of this:

The first half commercials featuring alien destruction of the world were educational. Interesting to see the meme so prominently placed.
I'm afraid I was too busy watching Madonna's creaky performance in the fascinated fear that it would wind up being the most tragic mid-game show ever to notice the flipped bird or the world peace thing. The mugging of the first rap girl (whoever she was) was unintentionally hilarious, or perhaps it was all the Willy's Wonder my co-watching friends plied me with. I was just happy when it was over and the big M was safely gone, to be rewrapped in bubble wrap for shipping back to LA.

When I was a kid, I remember seeing the 'two-finger' on the show "The Young Ones", and to this day, I still don't know why they do it that way!

A non-existent word coined by corporate advertising, marketing and business drones to make their work sound far more useful, exciting and beneficial to humanity than it really is. This term is most frequently used in "team building" seminars and conferences in which said drones discuss the most effective ways to convince consumer zombies to purchase crap they clearly do not need or even want.
"The board was convinced that my new ad campaign for arsenic and semen flavored lollipops for tots will be incredibly impactful and will generate heaps of sales."

Anywho, back to topic. Which was what again? Taking the ads and the performance together, it seems like the dominant theme was appropriation of peace/love/revolution. In the year of the most significant left social movement in many decades... like the Elton John Pepsi ad. Pepsi for the people. And a gay guy as king. Gay people and people of color are now free to lead the Empire.
